I love watching your videos! I really appreciate how if you need something done you just do it. I try to be that way but there are many times I will hire something done because I don't know how to do it. My mom just had her well pump replaced about a month ago.. it was right at $4k to replace. The pump was only 5 years old. Pumps use to last 15-30 years or more.. It's like the design stuff to fail after so many years now days.
Ouch! It’s incredible how much everything costs now with the Hyperinflation Administration at the helm. Sad place where our country is. Absolutely agree with “stuff is designed to fail”. That’s how corporations stay rich and the slaves keep feeding them. If that pump would have been manufactured in the 40s, it would have a 100 year service life😞
We've noticed that too....anything and everything....pumps, TVs, water heaters, stoves, refrigerators, all made in China!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pure Junk, all cheap components!!! No wonder they don't last!!>>>we've sold our souls to the devil and we're going to pay the ultimate price I'm afraid!! I guess Im showing my age, hey!!?? Kinda like dying and having to explain your life to God....and make excuses for our foolish actions...Sad, very sad indeed. I hope he can understand how we got ourselves into this mess!!! But hey, he designed and built us so who's to blame??? I really can't say. I just hopes he understanding how deeply flawed we all are!!!
Makes me grateful to have a 120 ft well in west texas...I went back with poly pipe . My well had not run in 35 years , went back with 1 hp submerge able pump .....reminded me of tripping pipe on drilling rigs ....thanks for the memories!😂
We used to always cap the electrical connectors with a spot of silicon to keep the moisture out as well.
I will fill the nuts with dielectric grease normally, but wouldn’t you know I couldn’t find it 🤦🏻♂️

It’s really a simple task. A well company will charge 1000-1500 more for just the pump than you can purchase yourself. I paid $569 for the pump. I was quoted $1690 and that didn’t include labor or an emergency fee🤦🏻♂️if you have rigid pipe make a tripod, hang a simple tackle and block and get after it. You might want a better pipe slip than we had thought. A rental yard might have a proper set of slips for rent. Good luck my friend
That duct tape was a bad idea the rest of the work looked great.
Waterproof gorilla tape. Only needs to last a year. Gonna replace the pump with a Grundfos or the like soon. Hopefully doesn’t fall off😬

Very cool video. I haven't had to deal with a well as of yet (who knows, if I head out to Montana at some point). I get a lot of the hydro principles, but have never actually seen the physical workings of that type of well pump. Live to learn!

He’s my younger brother…Jk. Most people are capable of more than they give themselves credit for. I find most are either lazy or lack the confidence to try something new. No one became great at anything by staying in their “comfort zone”. I always say if you can work with your hands, you’ll always be able to feed yourself. @@tickcreekranch I can definitely relate to the lack of confidence. Renovating a home and I can do the electrical and some other things, but the drywall (of all things) has me running in the other direction.
@@NavyCopMA1 try your hand at a closet or a utility room first and if it’s still kicking your ass by the end make a phone call😀 Sheetrock is too difficult, being efficient at it is another story… You can always hang it and then hire out the tape and texture. Been there done that. Just keep at it, you’ll get it

Hi fellow Ozarkian! I had a friend recommend this channel today. We live about 20 miles north of Branson. Moved here almost 2 years ago from West Coast, and after 2 months of being here, our well pump went out. Cost us a couple-$1,000. There was no way it'd get done if we had to do it, we have no idea how it even functions. This was interesting to watch and learn something about it.
And, the sound of those cicadas at night...they are something else, aren't they? They're LOUD.

Before watching a well has only a few issues.
Ants in the points.
Capacitor (always have an extra).
Air admittance valve not working, and water hammer from a waterlogged pump.
Pump or hole in down pipe.
I have this style of pump around 120 meter (400ft) down and it's been going for over 35 years now. It's an Alfa Laval pump. I'm terrified that it would stop working since the hole actually collapsed slightly after the pump was submerged. Either i just tug on it until something breaks or it comes up. Lowering it is also an alternative. Just leave it down there and submerge a new one on top of it. In my case it's a continuous pvc hose. Not sections of pipe. I live in northern parts of Sweden.
Good thing I have some kids, our went out a couple times, called and asked how much to have someone fix it and they said $1500.00 minimum (and thats just replacing the pump) for how deep mine was. I have pulled our well like 4 times, 2 times because the power wire that leads down rubbed against the side until it wore through (there was no rubber anti rotation device, installed on) , found the bad spot, fixed it, and two times due to holes that came about in the plastic pipe. Its about 150 foot deep, and wore me out hand pulling. Eventually I am going to save up some money and get a whole new line and wire and do it for the last time I hope. I wish I had a big old wood wire spool on a frame with a big crank to get it out, maybe I will make one before the next time I pull it. But my kids and I have saved ourselves atleast 6 grand doing it ourselves lol.
Kids are pretty useful:) I assume you have hdpe pipe. I would advise you have cable guards or something to centralize the pipe and wire if you’re having chafing issues. Next time I’ll replace this with 250 psi poly. I’ll fab a bracket and roller that attaches to the casing so we can pull the pipe and pump with a wheeler or vehicle.
Man it's good to have water.
Plastic coiled pipe is MUCH easier and lighter. No joints (or very few).

Wow, nice videos,new subscriber. . I was surprised to realize how close you guys are to where I live, didn’t even realize that. Did you rent that boom for the skid steer or do you own it ? I’m getting ready to set my pump at 600 feet and watching all the videos I can and UA-cam recommend your video and it turns out your just a few miles away .

How many plastic pipes? How far to water? How many gallons?
450’ bore. Pump is at 400’ 20-20’ joints. Static water is 30’ and the well log report shows 17 gpm.
