Nobody posts gold panned out using one of these. It PULVERIZES the gold into fine dust that you cannot recover in a pan or in a sluice. The particles are so fine they glide out on top of the other material. Or, they show gold BB's on the screen inside the crushing chamber.I am building one, gathering materials as we speak.Quartz is HARD rock. Gold is a SOFT metal. All you want to do is separate the gold from the rock. Your goal is to hit the rock hard enough to separate mineralization, nothing more, nothing less. This is a brilliant crushing tool. Just needs some tweeks. The rotor speed is WAY TOO FAST! I plan on reducing my speed drastically. Trial and error, so I will have a range of sheaves that I will try in increments. The discharge needs to be open. You do not want a recirculating load inside a horizontal impact crusher. Placement of the feed port and the discharge in relation to the crushing zone is very important. My discharge opening will be cut out, and an adjustable plate on a bolt to adjust the opening. This will let you play with your product size. If you can achieve modest size reduction on first pass, you are going to recover 90% of the gold in any given stone. Quartz is hard, it is going to break along mineralization first. If you are going to chemically extract the minerals, by all means, make flour out of that stuff! Gravity separation on a small scale like a weekend prospector? Look into a jaw crusher. Besides, these things kick out the dust. Quartz dust-PURE SILICA. Silicosis is a very real thing, and running this will expose you to the hazards of silicosis. FAST!Wear a respirator and work upwind. It is not the dust you see that kills you, it is the dust between 2-10 micron that get in your lungs and lacerate the tissue. It scars and you loose that portion of the lung, forever. Please, wear PPE. This is also very loud. Double up- Plugs and muffs.Jaw crushers are the most efficient at 6:1 reduction factor.

are you talking the Aqua Regia, or Eucalyptus oil for extraction?

Darn right about the silica dust warning and the PPE.

I do like the in-feed shaker chute using the vibrations from the petrol engine. I also liked the out-feed tube going straight into a sealed bucket with a hole in the top. Still too much dust flying around though.

That's what a dust deputy by oneida is for. They make plastic ones for around 50 and steel ones for 200. Worth every penny
