Great video. I’ve just been Bass fishing a couple weeks. I watched one of your spinner bait videos and caught my first 5lber right after watching it. Thanks for all your advice!
Don’t get me wrong, I give Roland all the credit in the world. You don’t do what he has done in any era without not knowing what you are doing, but I didn’t watch this one thinking how can he know anything about a bait that came out 10-12 years ago? He’s been out of competition for so long. Wrong again, finally clicked on it and the G.O.A.T. went to work. Very informative, I had already subscribed but this video got a quick like.
You are quite the teacher, Roland! Your passion for it is evident and we are blessed when you tap into your vast amount of experience and knowledge. You are one of my favorite teachers of anything, any time!
Roland...I'm 69 years young. I've been fishing since I was old enough to crawl into the boat. Illinois and the surrounding states. I learn something new everyday. I really enjoy your channel. To me, the best part about fishing is choosing the bait that catches the fish. Thank You.
Well Greg I'm 67 and grew up fishing. Oh, I'm from Illinois, around Peoria, did a lot of fishing in north western Wisconsin ( Gordon, Hayward), Minnesota, northern Arkansas and my favorite southern Illinois. In fact I'm moving to northern Arkansas or southern Missouri. I've had enough of Illinois taxes and fees.
Mike Bingham I was lucky enough to have my dad and uncles who loved to fish. My son likes to fish but my grandson doesn’t. Oh well. I’ve tuned into Roland Martin and Jimmy Houston for many years. I recently re spooled my tackle to braided line. 1st time using it. Big lake fish always had steel leaders. I now fish for trout and bass in the Southwest. Home base is Las Vegas Nevada. Good luck to you.
Thanks for explaining and sharing your bass fishing experiences and education. Feels like I'm right there with you...looking around...saying to my self, "look at ALL this stuff!"
It shows your information is from the heart and how much you enjoy teaching us viewers. I grew up watching you and this UA-cam channel is on a new level of information from you. Thank You for the great videos that allows us to continue to learn what we all love best FISHING!
Roland I greatly appreciate you spending time in the hardware room explaining knots, lures, blades and different types of line! I am refreshing my fishing skills for 2020 and you're channel makes it easy. I would look forward to you doing used bait and tackle give aways also, so you can lighten you're burden of to much tackle in you're shop. Take great care!!
My two tips for fishing with chatterbaits: 1. pay attention after splash down. I caught 2 nice bass this spring on the initial fall. 2. Slow constant retrieve catches big bass at night because the vibration and noise allows the bass to home in on it.
Thank you, Roland! Another great video. As always I learned some new things and reinforced some ideas I had. I love the Zakos and have had really good luck with them on my pressured little Maryland lake. Can’t wait to try out the cowboy trailers.
I have caught a lot of nice fish on the spinner bait over the years. I have recently added a few chatter baits to my tackle box. I haven't caught anything on them yet, but I am sure it is only a matter of time. I love that thump that I get from the chatter bait. For that same reason, I prefer a small Colorado blade on my spinner baits paired with a willow blade for flash.
I have no Chatter-baits now but that will change soon . Got my interest in-em , I`ll prepare my poles first , next weekend finally a day in 70 degree weather , hope for sunny skies .
Hey roland. Love the vids. Can you make a video on your favorite fishing trips with scott growing up? I love hearing about you guys because it reminds me of my dad and grandpa. They're from oklahoma and talk a lot about the fishing down south, just like where you've fished. Keep it up roland!
I dunno Roland, I fish heavy cover with chatter bait and spinner baits and I do better with chatters. The fish go nuts. you just have to figure out how to keep it from getting hung up by popping it off of stuff. That's usually when a fish comes out of nowhere and slams it anyways.
I got to say I wish I stayed serious about bass fishing my #1 hobie..you have all kinds of gear .man but I have to spread out the things I love to do Evenly as I can which never enough fishing and I always finding myself having to buy plastics I always run out of .and finding myself in situations when I don't have wat I want to use because of finances usually...
Daniel McDavid: looked like a tree fall back there, maybe a hedge of pussy willows. I think I saw a bass or crappie once in a while. All kidding aside I can't say much. After fishing for 45 years stuff happens and accumulates!
I noticed the many rods as well. Personally I've had up to 15 set ups for many years. I went down to 3. Gave them to family and friends. I'm now up to 6 again. I also get a new driver in my golf bag every 3 years. I'm sure I have issues. not sure what its called.
I thick I have around 30 combos. If you fish a lot, tools accumulate. I go to many places with many species so it happens. Don't set a goal to buy a lot of rods, just get the tools you need when you need them and it'll happen. Fortunately fishing gear is relatively cheap compared to other hobbies.
I found a giant willowleaf on a 1/2 oz. or smaller spinnerbait to be a disaster. If a big fish inhales most of the bait, getting the skirted hook and the blade, the blade often winds up blocking the hookpoint. As a result, it is IMPOSSIBLE to hook the fish. Yes, I do make my own spinnerbaits.
I have never caught a fish on a traditional spinner bair. Beatle Spin killed them. A paddle tail minnow on a jig spinner kills. But a normal skirted spinner 0 for life
The first time I used a trailer hook on a spinnerbait I accidentally killed a 9lb pickerel. It went deep in his throat and I couldn't get it out in time because he kept flailing around and trying to bite. Put him back in the water and a minute later, he had a heart attack or something. Won't ever use again because, I don't like killing game I don't intend to eat. Same reason I don't like using trebalhooks unless trout fishing. Anyways good videos from a wise man!
Hey Roland, 15 year old angler here, love all the information in your videos. Keep em coming!
Always accurate, honest information from a legend that's forgotten more than i will ever know. Thanks Roland!

More very good info, always teaching his viewers. Just love that "son" shares his knowledge. Keep on Catching.

Roland, just want you t know how much I appreciate, enjoy and learn from your videos. I am relatively new to fishing at age 63,
using your technique I learned from your Sinko video, I caught my largest bass ever yesterday, 5.8 lbs... THANK YOU!
As always , top notch info! And I always get a smile watching your videos. Keep them coming!
You just can’t beat advice and tips from a legend. Thanks for the informative videos bud.

Roland, you taught me almost everything I know about spinnerbait fishing! Thanks for doing what you do. I love these sit-down videos you’re doing.
This is my good buddy’s bait, but his stuff breaks. Buy mine. Lmao!! God Bless ya Roland!

Thank you Roland it was great information 👍
That's some valuable information that I'll treasure! It feels like I have visited an expensive Bass fishing class! Thank you.
Would love to see a rod tour/count video.
Your collection is impressive. Thanks for the great vids!

Bill Dance gold, Colorado blade twin spinner bait, can not be beat !
Older than dirt, but few years younger than, Roland :- )
I have no Chatter-baits now but that will change soon . Got my interest in-em , I`ll prepare my poles first , next weekend finally a day in 70 degree weather , hope for sunny skies .

Well, how about it, would really be something to watch. Think Bill would be up for it?
So glad I clicked this. Roland rocks🙌 green pumpkin & black and blue tubes for smallmouth guess the same goes for chatter
I like black and blue and green pumpkin in both a Chatterbait and a regular jig
Thank you Mr. martin great info!!
As a practical matter, it is a lot easier for bank fishermen to carry a variety of chatterbaits in their tackle box or sling bag.
Thank you for your helpful tips
Roland is THE MAN. Always great information. Occasionally the hookers blow up his phone but it’s NBD. Thanks Roland keep the content coming!
Hey Roland thanks for the info!
Epic Video Son!!
Great video Roland. In the future, silent mode on the phone! haha

Chatterbait seems like it needs more wind and cold water whereas the spinnerbait seems more versatile and not quite so picky to work
You could be on target
Possibly.
First time using a war eagle double gold willow...threw it 2 days ago very clear deep rocky reservoir, I caught the second biggest bass in my career
I got to say I wish I stayed serious about bass fishing my #1 hobie..you have all kinds of gear .man but I have to spread out the things I love to do

What about a chatterbait with an underspin? Cowboy trailer worked really well for me last fall but only when rigged sideways rather then flat.
I haven't tried that
Great videos Mr. Martin! You're videos have taught me much! I still think you can't fish finesse :)~
I'm a better power fisherman
I'd like to see a fishing challenge between you and Bill Dance!
Your the spinner bait King!
Son..
Fricken legend
You are my idol Roland!!
Just caught my fist 20 pounder watching your videos thanks Roland
What species
Love both baits. I have more success here in East TX with the spinner bait BUT by a hair.
Hi Roland, there is a duck sound in the back,.
spinnerbait every time.. it is very versatile
Can you help me with lake Allatoona ga , love ya and Thank you for all your work !!!!

Chris Bramblett,
Does anyone else notice the amount of rods behind him in the racks? Personal goal of mine is to just have 5 setups... lol

I’m your neighbor Roland. May I stop by to say hello?
Sure
let me know if you ever have a yard sale. Lol
Roland! I loved watching you as a kid growing up! Don't take this wrong but your vid intro makes you look like Joe Biden!
I'll look into that for sure!
Not one of the best (BUT THE VERY BEST) .
Spinner baits = big bass
ChatterBait with a lizard

I don't follow you Roland. I think you are going to have to take me fishing for me to understand 😉 😆
First
Take all that chatter off. Just jig. That is where I’ve caught all my large mouth.
