  • Adjusted the TPS from .58 volts to .643 v and it cleaned the bike up instantly. Bike starts instantly no more sputtering or struggling, idles faster/steadier/smoother, no more low end lug like it constantly wants to stall and cleaned up issue with flame outs. Throttle instantly feels snappier and smoother down low. Will update over time as I ride on this voltage more.

    Thanks ill check this out i have a 17 husqvarna fc450 and it pops on deceleration alot. You mention flame out, i had flameout really bad on the motocross track. I bought a fuel rail from Best dual sport bikes for about $75 and it cured all my flamout issue. Took 10 minutes to fit. Well worth it

      The graphics I had on in this video are KTM factory enduro graphics kit it comes with front plate and the number plates in all black you can search google and find a place with them for your year bike

    Did you have the correct value or you just try until It work well? I have same problem on a 690 Smcr, i read the "correct" value in a forum but if I put those on my bike the engine work so bad. Is It fine if i change value just trying to make my engine works better? (Sorry for bad english)

      The same voltage does not work for everyone and every bike, it's a good place to start and then you dial it in until it runs perfect

    what end cap do you have on your exhaust? is it wider than stock? where did you get it?

    • @mazzeo321
      @mazzeo321  4 роки тому

      It was the bestdualsportsbikes.com end cap, it is much wider opening than stock and freed the bike up alot much louder and better flow than stock end cap and a good option if you dont want to go with a new muffler, i had it on temporarily just to hold me over until i could get my fmf and with my new bike went straight to fmf muffler and a fuel tuner is the best way to go

    My brand new (2 hours on it) European 2019 KTM 500 EXC-F runs so bad that top speed is 95km/h, but up to that it runs sort of ok as long as you do not give to much throttle and it do have very little power but never stalls and starts easily. If you remove side cover to the air-filter so it gets more air it gets a lot worse... I had a Mercedes 190E car that did run just like that when it was running way to lean with 40% alcohol to save money. Everything points to that it is running scary lean and KTM dealership is 5 hours drive away and closed for 1 week so I will have to see if I can fix it myself...

      Rondo Cat I recently worked on a 2018 Ktm 500 to adjust the TPS, it is possible but they made it harder to get to. I chose to loosen the clamps on the throttle body and rotate it by prying it with a long flathead screwdriver and then was able to get a torx bit in there to loosen the tps and adjust it. They also changed the plug so a older generation tps adjustment plug won’t fit, I ended up cutting the wires and splicing in a connected that I could hook my meter up to and test the voltage that way

    • @mazzeo321
      @mazzeo321  6 років тому

      The cover that is protecting the tps is the hardest part to get off because the screws are behind the frame once the cover is off it’s not too hard to adjust the tps itself. I left the cover off for now so I could make adjustments over time if needed

    How do you take the plastic cover off the TPS so you can adjust it?

    • @mazzeo321
      @mazzeo321  6 років тому

      The TPS has a rubber boot over it that can be slide down by hand, sometimes I use a pair of needle nose to pull it off and pull it back on . You are just sliding the boot down the wire so you can unplug the harness and hookup a meter directly to the tps and adjust

    • @not_a_street_bob
      @not_a_street_bob 6 років тому +1

      The TPS has a big plastic cover over it so I cant get to the actual TPS adjustment
      screws at all
      I can undo the lower screw on the plastic cover but its pretty well impossible to get to the top screw, im guessing I need to undo the throttle body clamps & rotate it round just to get to that one screw in the cover to remove it?

      1290 WARPED this video is showing the 2016, 2017 and up are a new generation and require more work to adjust the TPS, it was previously held on with one bolt on the bottom but the new ones have a bolt at the top, that I believe at a minimum you have to remove the seat, plastic, and motor mount in front of it in order to unbolt the top

    What pros of tps adjustment? More responsive throttle? Torque? Or what? Please

    • @mazzeo321
      @mazzeo321  6 років тому

      The main benefit is getting rid of the dreaded "flame out" that many of these street legal EXC bikes suffer from out of the factory, usually more common once you have desmogged the bike and made any changes to the exhaust. The bike comes severely detuned and exhaust restricted for emissions purposes in the US, a simple reflash to the Euro map will change the fuel mapping to a much better aggressive map, and removing all of the smog BS off of the air intake system helps free up the motor to breath, but the default TPS(Throttle Position Sensor) setting is a bit too low and causes a flooding effect with the fuel when you blip the throttle, causing the bike to sputter and stall out. Increasing the voltage of the TPS will move the default voltage value at 0 throttle input over to the right, basically moving the entire range of throttle to the right, in effect increasing the idle a bit and making the bike run smoother at 0 throttle. It helps the bike run better at idle, take off smoother and peppier, and the throttle generally does seem to be much more responsive . In my experience it makes the whole bike run better and eliminates stalls.

      @@mazzeo321 where did you find out how to do this? Can i make my own jumper and what are you actually turning?

    • @mazzeo321
      @mazzeo321  5 років тому +1

      @@jawknee21 you could make your own jumper by cutting the wires and stripping and putting both ends into the same side of a butt connector to complete the circuit while leaving the other end of the butt connector open to stick your meter lead into . What you are turning is the tps itself, and as you turn the body of the tps the voltage that you read off of it will increase or decrease. The baseline voltage with.no throttle applied is what we are setting

    • @jawknee21
      @jawknee21 5 років тому

      @@mazzeo321 so I stripped some thick wire and put them in the plug and jammed the plug back together and got it set to .64 but I changed my exhaust and supposedly I have the euro tune but I'm not sure how to make sure its done.

    • @mazzeo321
      @mazzeo321  5 років тому

      @@jawknee21 the same voltages dont work for everyone, especially with different exhausts and tunes. My bike has euro map as well and if I remember correctly I may have needed my voltage higher after the bike got the new exhaust. Maybe closer to .69, it's all going to be up to you to adjust the voltage, carefully tighten the tps and rev the throttle and feel how smooth it is how responsive it is and how it sounds, is it chopping, is it bogging, is it stalling? It may take a few adjustments and attempts to get it dialed in until it runs just right

    What elevation are you? I'm at 7000 feet and struggling to find a setting that make this feel like it did when I lived at 1000 feet. I have an FMF Snap and TwinAir Powerflow system as well as put an XCFW Exhaust on it. Any help would be appreciated.

      I'm right outside NYC so we are super low 280 feet elevation , I'm honestly not sure what kind of setting would help at such a high altitude, I would have to do some research myself
