This was one of the most amazing Pennsylvania views I have seen in my life. Thank you Elk Mountain Ski Resort! Also a big thank you to Kat Bolus, journalist for WVIA. Kat asked me if she could cover one of my climbs. I explained that Susquehanna County was among my last counties however I have not been successful getting permission to hike to the high point. Kat pointed out that Elk Mountain Ski Resort is a supporter of WVIA public radio and tv. She was able to connect directly with Bob Deluca at the resort and gain their approval for our hike and climb. We were joined by my friend Marc Lewis, and of course his dog Silva, as well as Ashley from the Northern Tier Hardwoods Association. We hiked directly up a black diamond ski slope (I’ve never done that before) to the summit. The view was incredible. We had a clear view of my next destination, Mount Ararat in Wayne County, as well as the Catskill Mountains in New York state. Marc helped me choose a nice Red Oak tree at the top for the climb. When I came down I had a great conversation with Kat for her radio interview. We talked about how valuable our forests are for wood products, recreation, clean water, and so much more. We also discussed the threats these forests face from things like non-native insects and plants. I was impressed with her background knowledge of invasives like Emerald Ash Borer and the Spotted Lantern Fly. I stressed the importance for all Pennsylvanias to get involved with conversations about how we manage our forests. I made sure she knew that my wife and I are WVIA members / supporters. I encourage everyone to do the same. How often does your radio station send a journalist on an assignment like this? I’ll be a WVIA supporter for life.

That's quite a quest you're on my friend. What prompted you to attempt such a mission? Regardless, best of luck completing all 67. Cheers.

It all started with a walk in the woods. I blog about all my climbs here. I recommend reading the 1st entry. It gives some insight into how this all came about: sites.google.com/view/vanwagnerhighestclimbs/home
