Tried getting my Volvo S60R out of the snow bank it was plowed into with out shoveling. Much to the doubting of my neighbor i made it. Maryland Snowpocalypse storm Jonas is no match for the R
Yea but the point Is, that if a driver this bad can get out of that (revving the cold engine and all that), then imagine what a better driver can do with this car. This just shows the capability of the S60R
@@Dewree69 Indeed 100% agreed! related to a conspiracy in my head: Are you polish? because i have 5 polish friends and 3 of them have volvos. I feel a conspiracy here🤣 can you tell me what is it with polish people and volvos? Except for the fact that volvos are safe, reliable, and amazing overall 🤩... Are you thaught in school of "the great volvo" or something? Or most of the polish fathers or grandfathers talk about and know about how amazing the volvos are? or just 'cause Sweden is close to you, just over a little water to the North? or all of the above? 🤯
Always this guy. It really often depends on the quality/type of snow too. I got my Vw Touareg (haldex) with two lock diffs (center and rear) stuck in 6 inches of snow at our ski resort because the type of snow made a perfect cradle to the wheel (tires are Yoko ATs). Nothing was going to get it out without the help of a shovel.
@@mattbroadvick3595 so is this system not good in the snow i live in big bear mountain and was planning to purchase the car in the video the s60r bc of the AWD combined with the horsepower. Im also looking at a subaru legacy. You seem to know very well about this topic and wanted your insight. Should i not buy the s60r ? And what awd would you recommend. Because if i go with the subaru it doesn’t have much horsepower. Okay thank you in advanced
@@jamesramos124 that comment is 3 years old. Go with the outback, power isn’t everything. The volvo is a fantastic car but if you are buying it just for power and its haldex you will be disappointed. My favorite things about my s60r are the interior and the exhaust note as I have a cutout.
@@Eastsidegeorgiaboy Volvo’s AWD system in this vehicle sends up to 60% of power to the rear when it senses just 15 degrees of front wheel slip, that’s not terrible for an AWD system. Also, not all “front biased” systems are bad. Mitsubishi’s Lancer SE S-AWC offers a system that can be FWD, AWD auto which bounces power around where it’s needed most, or AWD lock, which locks power at 40% to the front and 60% to the rear due to the active center dif, making the car an absolute tank in the snow, I daily one and it outperforms the Impreza I had before. The Evo X’s system is even better, being able to lock up to I believe 90% of the power to the rear with its active center differential, and it’s torque vectoring rear differential sends power to the outside rear wheel in a corner to promote a controlled slight bit of oversteer, so the car doesn’t under steer and therefore making it faster in the corner. My second car is a Mazda Speed6 which also has a haldex system but is running at 95:5 front rear ratio making it a true full time AWD system albeit a front biased one, with the ability to go 50:50. It also has limited slip differentials, making it handle very well.

once he heard that 5 cilinder engine sound roaring he new phill was getting out haha
Considering the R is really low, not bad
now if he had snows....man i love the sound of the s60r i wish they still made it exactly the same.
Applause to the S60
Volvos don't need no stinkin' snow shovels. :-)
lol that's awesome, my R is in the shop right now getting a new bumper and lights, cant wait to drive it home
Why not just back up a couple of yards, seemed to be less snow there. To easy maybe.
They wanna be cool
Just stupidity...
Just a tool trying to be a tool
Its great revving a stonecold engine👌
I was wondering my self how warm it was....
It was already running, he definitely waited for it to warm up
That "freeing" could've been done with 10-15% of the gas and effort this guy put in...

I luv Volvo I had an 99 v70xc awd it was very good in snow and bad weather.
I'm pretty sure all S60 with an R badge are all wheel drive. Great car

a lot of these are fwd
Hirmuli Nope, all AWD. The previous generation was available in FWD but all P2 platform R models have the Haldex AWD system.
And a fair number of them have angle gears with toothless splines and no working AWD.
All 04-07 aka P2R Volvo are AWD.
Sounded pretty good actually
Hhaha..luv it how pesimistic u started off and gradually turned optimistic. ...
Are we surprised? This car is Swedish and the Swedes sure know what snow is 😉
Proud of my Volvo XC40 too
put some studded Bridgestone blizzaks on that bad ass and you'll get out of there with no problem at all
Nah nokian hakkapelita
@@einar8019 True, best winter tires I've tried have consistently been Hakka's of different generations.

What a sound
Thankful.
And thanks for watching, 😊
That person in the car doesn’t know How to drive with AWD...
Icenberg most of the struggle cam from the driver here.
Didn't surprise me, my XC90 has gotten "stuck" so many times, and free'd just as many.
winter tires?
My dad said never boy did I prove him wrong..
with the same car wish I had a vid
When was the last time you checked your angular gear collar? Your AWD seems a little sluggish.
Wierdo.
VOLVO POWER!
I wonder what happened to his trasmission
Thats what swede cars are mad to do

There is a certain madness to Swede cars...
epic
remarkable!!! haha
🔥🙌🙌🙌
pretty sure his awd is going
It just does what early haldex does best, pulls diagonally
Its a fwd based awd. Nowhere near 50/50. Its working properly. He is just not driving it like he should.

That engine sounds crazy but audi with torsen would've been out like in 3 seconds :D Just saying.
Please clear off all the snow from the windows and lights
Bet on the Volvo, it's better odds.
hahahhahaaa yup s60r is like yea i got this
With so cold engine..full rpm....nice....engine like that
That was not full rpm. You would hear the 5 cylinder open up. You barely heard exhaust. Just wheels spinning. Im sure he didnt pass 5500 rpm
You know... you cant get out of snow going full throttle right..?
We kinda dont want the wheels spinning. TRACTION.
Dingus.
How do you know it was cold?
thats a lot a snow
