- The Titleist T300 irons and Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal irons are two of the most forgiving golf irons available, each model providing exceptional distance and forgiveness for golfers with mid-to-high handicaps.
In this video, 2nd Swing's Jackie Johnson and Drew Mahowald conduct a head-to-head test using Trackman technology to compare the Titleist T300 irons and the Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal irons. Which of the two is more forgiving?

Tried both during my fitting. Went with the T300 because my best hits had that “pop” sound and it made me feel good. I’m a high handicapper, so I don’t regularly get that quality strike sound. When I do I know it.
Glad to hear you found a great iron for you - Thomas
You guys are teasing me over here! Expecting my HM/HMPs this week after 2+ months of waiting!!
Some of these manufacturers are still struggling to get there orders delivered. Stay patient it will be worth the wait- Thomas
I hit these (and others) in February to see what fit my game best. I am a 12 handicap and just loved the feel, forgiveness, and sound of the Mizuno's. These clubs feel closer to forged than cast while being very forgiving. They still provide feedback, so I can tell if I hit slightly toe or heel, but the ball still has tons of distance and flies straight. To each their own, but if you haven't tested the Mizuno's, I highly recommend it!
Same here. I got fitted for the Hot Metal Pros last month and I was blown away by the feel of these.
Mizuno's definitely have a nice soft responsive feel - Thomas
@@2ndswing Are these 2 sets going to be more forgiving than mizuno 225? if so, is it a few yards difference in distance?
@@jeffc1736 Way more forgiving that 225. I owned 225 for three rounds, now I have 2019 T100 which is more forgiving than the 225 also. T100 is smaller but has more MOI. I've heard some people find the 223 similar or more forgiving than 225 also.
Both great brands in irons, I’ve had both but currently have PXG in the short irons, and Mizuno FliHi in the 4-7 irons.
Would love to see Forged Tec X take on the winner!
I’ve played both theses irons and they are both outstanding. The Mizuno is very steady overall in every category. The T300s are a bit longer and equally as forgiving but don’t sound/feel as good as Mizunos especially in longer irons (4-7). When you get to irons that don’t have max impact they are very good.
Stay tuned. We will complete some Forged Tec testing here soon - Thomas
T300 All day
Love mine🏌️♂️
Glad you found some great irons for you! - Thomas
Drew slightly skewed the results by leaving in 2 obvious outliers in the 921 HM. Take those 2 out and there is little difference between the clubs, I suspect if the T300s were a degree flatter there would be no difference at all between the clubs.
Either way in Jackie's hands it seems the T300 is a bit more forgiving than the 921 but tbh it is a fairly ugly club compared to the 921 HM
Thank you for watching! - Thomas
Love the T300 great irons.
Thanks for watching - Thomas
Standard lie angles are quite a bit different. Mizuno 7i 61.5° v T300 7i 63°. Might explain the T300 shot dispersion being a bit more left.
Yes. Mizuno is flatter than most manufacturers - Thomas
And all titleist irons are 1 degree more upright than most. In fact I was fitted for the T300 irons to 3 degrees flat - and Titleist wouldn’t supply them without me signing a disclaimer
@@keithchristian77 I'm looking at getting a used set of T300 that are 2 flat.
I have the Mizuno set. I like that the average spin was 500+ higher than the Titleist.
Thank you for watching! - Thomas
Just watched a few tests of the Srixon ZX4 irons which had very good results similar to these irons. How would you compare them to the titleist and the Mizuno .
ZX4 is a little more game improvement than T300 and Hot Metal - Thomas
Which club has a longer face?
How does the Ping G425 compare to the Mizuno sound and feel wise?
The Mizuno Hot Metal's are a little softer but similar in sound - Thomas
These are both on my list of irons to upgrade from my Stratas. As well as the PXG 0211 and Callaway Apex DCB.
Hahahah same exact boat. Ditching the stratas and getting one of the ones u listed. Im going t300 tho i think
