I have a set of Tours Edge C523 irons. Super easy to hit and feel great off the ball. They compete with these other clubs and are about half the price of most of them. This is the best bang for your buck hands down in my opinion.
I have a Tour Edge C523 set coming in next week and am wondering how the wedges are, I specifically am getting the SW and AW. I would love your feedback if you got the wedges as well!
Most “playable” irons look like the Ping, Titleist and Mizuno. Obviously depends on your delivery and other factors but a great video. Appreciate it being done at 80mph. Thomas is a machine!
Nice Video. Black Friday I picked up the Callaway Rogue ST MAX OS Irons and it has help my Iron Play a lot. Being in my 50's I was looking for more distant and forgiveness.
Nice comparison video guys. I'm not in the market for GI irons but if I had to choose one ... I'd give up golf 😂. There's not one that delivers a 'balanced' performance. It's either decent spin with low peak and land angles or it's higher peak with low spin, etc. I'd need to be playing links golf to make any of these work but for those that need/want them, you've done a great job in identifying the similarities and differences 👍
Great video. I've been waiting for this one. Would have liked to saw the Cobra Forged Tec-X included but other than that this was awesome. Looking to replace my Titleist 981 irons (bought new in 99 or 2000), will probably go with a players distance iron but have been really interested in the Stealth irons and the JPX 923s.
Hey guys great comparison. I would really like to see a comparison done with top 5 accuracy and consistency for distance and dispersion in a forgiveness iron with good backspin(6000+). We all know hitting off a mat is easier than how the irons interact with the turf. It would be mice to see your thoughts on this from the short to Long irons 4-PW since most of us only get to test a 7-iron. Great stuff keep them coming.
I really enjoy the watching your guys videos, tons of good info. I’m looking for new irons for next yr, currently game the G425s. Have hit the 923 HMs, sweet irons, better than the G425s. Will be trying the Calloway DCBs, and some of the ones had on your video. Wish you had a store in Western Canada. Keep up the good work.
A suggestion: always throw out the worst of each set...that 1 bad shot can skew the data. This would be more realistic for us hackers who are going to ignore bad shots anyway...and why we have mulligans, breakfast balls, etc.
Somewhat disappointed to not see the Cleveland Launcher XL game improvement irons in here.. have used them for a year now and they've been very good. Have taken me from being a high handicap starting golf, to a 6 now. And they made golf digest gold.
those are super game improvements like the Cobra T-rail, Titleist T400, and the JPX HM HL. Kinda a completely different category they are more like hybrids while these are still somewhat a normal iron
@@enzy6434 ah no I was thinking of the launcher XL halos. never new the regular xl even existed. they probably are not popular enough for people who would watch this video to even consider
So I’m a sweeper as well. Which of these would you say is best for that type of swing? And in that range of club head speed? Great review. Lots to digest.
Thanks for watching!! A sweeper will likely need some more loft in order to generate enough spin. So we would initially recommend G425. However, we ultimately recommend getting fit and testing out the clubs for yourself to really see!
I am 14 handicap, turn 74 very soon. My irons are callaway Rouge x. Should i get new or take what I have to the great beyond. Still play from white or blue tees. Also play 18 everyday.
Loving the videos with the slower swing speeds. I also am in the low 80’s with a 7iron but I see that you smash factor is so high. Is it actually possible to get 1.48 with an iron as I thought 1.37 is the top end with irons?
Please do a dispersion challenge from 175, Player's cavity vs Player's Distance vs Game Improvement. Whatever club is needed to hit a pin at 175 for a player at 90% of Thomas's ability. 😅
Thanks for the comment! We've put them in the game-improvement category in the past, but they can also function as players-distance. They have the best of both categories
LTDx under 4k spin what? I had them and i had a carry of 170 with a spin in the low 5k with a swing speed of 83 mph with my 7i... and i thought my spin was too low
You two guys are putting in a lot of good effort here as usual, so thank you. Firstly, your comments on lower CoG and increased ball speeds on modern tech irons giving more distance but still achieving decent descent angles and reasonable stopping power is noted and acknowledged. However, one cannot compare apples with pears and LTDx at 26.5° loft to G425 at 30° loft. A more meaningful comparison would be to use the same shaft with LTDx 7 iron versus G425 6 iron because both are 26.5° loft. But, yes, one cannot expect testers to swop different club heads around if the manufacturers give them 7 irons only for demo testing. So, how does one try eliminate these differences in variables and loft in particular? As an IT professional and a programmer by background, the launch monitor software should be enhanced to give further options to factor in these variables and adjust accordingly. For example, we program the software to adjust each degree of loft difference as equal to, let's say, 2.9 yards for swing speed of 80 mph. We then click on this recalculation adjustment option which will adjust the LTDx and G425 carry and total distances to reflect same loft distances. So, some work required by the launch monitor techies.
Over focus on static loft really. It's just as bad as focusing on the number on the bottom of the club. Just look at the ball flights and work backwards from there. Static Loft is only one variable in how it gets there, how accurately, and how consistently.
@@lawbinson yes, you are quite correct. Variables in addition to static loft are shaft and shaft length, tipping and puring, grip size, club head of manufacturer, lie angle, offset if altered, etc. However, the number on the bottom of the club is not a variable. Regards and have a super week of golf.
Are these thing really running out 10-20 yards? Not sure how you can hold a green with that much run-out. Is that just a weirdness of the trackman? I know my 7i doesn't roll out like that on the course
I spin the crap out of the ball. my 8 iron with the Callaway Rogue St Max, it will spin 6400 , my club speed 90.6 carry is 158 and launch angle is 20.4, height is 102 . smash factor is 1.27, I hit the ball so much different , I don't get it.
I hit my 7 iron 140 yards. This example of club distances is simply not realistic to average players. Put the clubs into the hands of an AVERAGE player and then it could help guide us.
does any race car driver really care how about their car sounds or looks , or do they only care about how it performs ? give any golf pro the ugliest worst sounding club in the world , if it would perform even 5% better they would all use it

I just got fitted in the cobra ltdx and love them

Really enjoyed this video. I'm thinking I want either the hot metal 923 or the G425 (def not the coming 430) in the spring, so this was nice to see.
Interesting test folks. Keep up this important work.
Got fitted into the Callaway Rogue ST Max by Club Champion 4 months ago.

Not the biggest fan of this category but I understand golfers that need these type clubs. Though I wouldn’t necessarily put the G425 in this group.
I have the D9s. Great video guys!
Are the Cobra Dark Speed irons a significant improvement over the LTDX irons?
I am 14 handicap, turn 74 very soon. My irons are callaway Rouge x. Should i get new or take what I have to the great beyond. Still play from white or blue tees. Also play 18 everyday.
Nice review 👍. LTDX and ZX 4 are really good 👍.
Great comparisson. It would have been nice to see dynamic loft with each of the clubs

Depends on your dynamic loft and AoA. Thomas is super efficient with shaft lean and neutral AoA. So, super high efficiency and lower spin.
Therese irons are almost cheating, I tried one set in a fitting and the smash for a 7 was 1.43 avg, and I’m not scratch golfer.

Awesome stuff. Could we also have dynamic loft in the data in the future?
just wondering, what classification would my Callaway Apex DCBs fall under? I love them, & I shoot in the 120s

What were you shooting before the DCBs?
When can you guys get your hands on the Ping G430 irons?
They jacked the lofts, wondering if they’ll be competing for longest now?? 🤔
I think they could afford to go a degree stronger
LTDx under 4k spin what? I had them and i had a carry of 170 with a spin in the low 5k with a swing speed of 83 mph with my 7i... and i thought my spin was too low
Thanks for watching!! The difference is likely the way you deliver the club. Your attack angle is probably much steeper, generating more spin.
How would the c722 play with the rest?
Ping G710??
