Well it’s nice to know where he got the goggles from I was always curious about where he got them from and why he wanted his gundam to have a desert type suit but another thing I was surprised he didn’t have was his own commander type suit as well

though what I love about Quatre's back story is that he learned and had a 180 turn for the better upon learning what he's suppose to be hostage takers were actually doing and earn to be one of hem in the process.
I do love the Sandrock, the G unit designed for close in combat that uses physical weapon, Deathsyche is also a close in G unit but it uses energy based weapon (damn, kinda shows my age on these reply/post ^_^)

It's funny because both Amuro and Quatre are voiced by Brad Swaile in the English dub.
The bright slap is so iconic you can find it in So many Gundam anime like in Zeta or seed or see destiny heck I’m pretty sure every Gundam anime I’ve seen at least had a character slap some sense into somebody
One reason why Shinji is like that in Eva he didnt get a bright slap or beat up

@@marcosdheleno exactly, and considering there was a data file that had the zero systems program info in it quatre should have read it and realized he didn't even need to make the zero system for the wing proto as the proto didn't need the zero system for anything.

Quatre almost reached Kira levels of OP there, especially in the MS piloting. Its a good thing that he ended up in one of the least OP Gundams with the Sandrock.

Quatre is my favorite Gundam Wing character, and one of my favorite Gundam characters, period.
That scientist wasn't Dr. J, that was H. The scientists J,G,S,H and O are with Heero,Duo,Trowa, Quatre and Wufei respectively.

Maganac Core..the only core that have all of its mobile suit till the end of the series...a rare feet in any gundam story where almost all grunt suit is blown up..
This is why I want an anthology series of stories from the Gundam franchise. They could cover the G Units, the deaths of Kira's biological parents, the origins of the Wing pilots, etc. Like Pokemon Chronicles.

Considering he grew up around an industrial family, it wouldn't be too fast fetched if he had some time behind the controls of a construction mobile suit. Theoretically, the controls of construction mobile suits are similar to military ones. That can easily explain how Quatura could pilot one easily.
The other interesting thing is the dynamics between Quatura and the group. On the battlefield, he's their commander next to Rashid, but within the safety of their base, he's treated like a kid brother to a good extent.
Maganac: From the Tagalog/Filipino word "mag-anak", that roughly means "family members".
Wing Anime story: Heero and Wufei are the most badass pilots.
Wing Backstory: Quatre outperforms literally every other gundam pilot by an order of magnitude.

This really doesn't feel like the soft spoken, extremely caring and comparatively well adjusted Quatre at all. This Quatre seems like a completely different person entirely.

100 Leos stuck out to me since at the beginning of Wing 3 Leos being lost caused a huge freak out.
Quatre is such a pure and precious cinnamon roll and HE MUST BE LOVED AND PROTECTED AND GLOMPED
I really wish they made more light on his being an implied New Type....it is NEVER once touched up on and I hate it. xD So the wound and being able to pilot, if he WERE a new type proper it would've made sense...but they never actually say yes or no.
Yeah, Wing really wanted to bring Newtypes into the series, but never committed. Both Quatre and Heero are strongly implied to be.
@@KyriosMirage Indeed, and I've even seen it suggested that Wufei would have been, and that it'd be why he is a dumbass who fights everyone all the time, since he can sense the motivations of his opponents in battle. That'd have at least explained him being non-stop hostile towards everyone in all situations, versus him just being a jerk for no real reason in the show.

Most likely he was trained with operating a mining suit and being a rich kid some marksmen ship training with a old fashioned musket as well as basic swordplay like fencing

In my head-canon, Quatre learnt to pilot mobile suits as a rich boy leisure activity.
As an explanation for how Quatre gained the respect of the Maganac, this actually did kinda hit me in the feels; but like you said I feel like this is the the exaggerated story the Maganac members tell people like Trowa and Sally Po. Also my headcanon would be that, like Kamille and Banagher, he would have had some experience on the AC version of a Mobile Worker, Med, or Junior Mobile Suit and most likely had done simulations since he did live and work on MO-III.
Yeah, that's a weird choice for an origin story. Quatre always felt like the least capable of the Gundam pilots in terms of combat skills and the most sheltered emotionally. it's why the evolution of his character over the course of the series is the most dramatic among them, he's not built mentally like the others and can't cope with the fluctuating politics of the setting.
As much as I like Duo, he's probably the least skilled of the pilots if I had to pick, not Quatre. Of course, Trowa, Heero, and Wufei are freaks of nature, and Duo's mobile suit's stealth means that his skill set is to get in and get out, not have protracted battles or provide leadership, so it's apples and oranges.

I'm glad Quatre gets an OP backstory. I found him to be the most interesting of the 5 pilots.
Duo was the most entertaining, and Heero and Trowa were meant to have that stoic cool factor.
But Quatre was actually the most human of the group. And in any other story, he'd be the one with the personality most befitting of a main character.
He has the charisma and the hero energy. Not too mention the conflict between his empathetic nature and his willingness to kill without breaking down over it. That's true strength. To be a killer yet maintain your humanity.
Imagine a new gundam series and a character like Quatre is the main character. He would be a fan favorite.
The notion that he's weak or boring just isn't justified.
Also EW Sanfrock is my favorite GW suit after Tallgeese 1 and 2.

If Maganac means family then it's mispronounced. It's mag-anak. Mag is a suffix equivalent to co-. Anak means child which is spelled here as anac. Even though it's co-children the relationship is equivalent to familial.
The word is most likely derived from an original like alot of names used in animes

I still find it hilarious that ADULTS asked a MINOR CHILD what they should do! I don't know about you guys but, at 13 I'd probably be like, "Welp, Jesus take the wheel or whatever." And then maybe cry.

they could've used an artificial womb to let them mature outside of the mother. (surprisingly, this tech is now true but still in the experimental stages) if I remember correctly, in Gundam Seed, they used an artificial womb to clone Rau. Celestial Being also used artificial wombs to clone Innovades.

i still dont get why is the mother in danger giving birth when:
1) she could do a surgery.
2) it should've been the baby that would suffer the stress the most, not the mother.
they should've just said she was someone born in the colonies, who wanted her child to be born on earth.
Matter in fact, a test-tube baby / in vitro fertilization only concerns the fertilization part. When the embryo's have grown enough, they are placed in the mother's or surrogate mother's uterus. Throwing the term IVF around does not explain enough why child birthing isn't happening anymore. Or they use some weird future tech maturation chambers, or (with Wing's techlevel taken into account) generally use C-section.
Death by childbirth is a very common anime trope. Healthcare in anime is...iffy.
I will say this was a story that would have benefited a character from the U.C. universe that had a new type background and this was the first time we saw it. In the A.C. universe there were no new types so this story raises more questions and gives more head scratchers than it should.

True. However with this fact, I consider Brad Swaile (voice of Amaro, Quatre, and Setsuna) as the Peter Cullen of the Gundam universe (at least for the English dub).

In several official file books, Quatre's 39 older sisters were from the ovum from 39 different women, and Catherine (Quaterine) Winner was the mother of his 40th and final child, Quatre.

I completely agree that Quatre see very out of character in this story. The idea that he would just blow off being taken hostage doesn't match him at all.
He was younger and at the time didn't value his life much. He basically went his whole life thinking he was just a test tube baby that could be manufactured pretty easily.
I mean he has 29 other sisters who were test tube babies. So he felt like his just didn't matter.
It wasn't until after this incident that he got a new lease on life and valued it.

I kinda just figured in the show that since the Winners were so wealthy that the Maganac were Quatre's personal body guards and always had been and called him master Quatre the same way a British butler would call the children in the family they were employed by young master so-and-so. Maybe the Maganac started out as mercenaries that became mercenary freedom fighters and believed in the cause but were still paid maybe. Donno why they didn't just go with that

As I saw Quatre's origin, this gave me the feeling that it was partially the inspiration of both Kicker Jones from Transformers Energon, and Rock from Black Lagoon, since they both had similar character arcs which could have used some improvements. Well I don't know about you, but what do you think?

Mobile suits must be like a sword or gun, simple to use
I mean when a child Duo Maxwell is able to steal a Leo and when just about anyone can pilot one no matter how green they are at it, probably the case. The After Colony timeline must be the easiest timeline for mobile suit piloting. No prior training or properly tuned software and AI support required.

I’m sure that’s covered in Gihren’s Ambition and whatnot. But I’ll throw in a guess.
Romantically, freedom for the Space Colonies and mankind leaves the Earth so it may heal over the years and maybe technological development into life further beyond the stars may happen. Maybe in a thousand years by then, humanity would fully evolve into Newtypes as their souls are fully free from Earth’s gravity.
But really, it most likely ends in a world dictatorship under the Zabi Family and quite possibly things get so bad that it will inevitably begin to spark the flames of war yet again down the line; whether it is remnants of the defeated Earth Federation or possibly people from the Colonies that are against the Zabi Family, or even Char who hasn’t given up on avenging his father’s death if he hasn’t died in this hypothetical scenario. Incidentally, Anaheim Electronics is most likely still there and who else would be willing to sell their new hot line of sweet and sexy mobile suits of high-end performance to people who desperately wanna wage war with well-armed mobile infantry units of mass destruction?
@@TheHiddenBoss Realistically it'd just be Earth Federation but nazi until they inevitably implodes and gives birth to Earth Federation 2.0. Gihren's Greed is not an accurate representation of what could have happened because for Zeon to win there, they'd have to act completely out of character.

In addition to all that you said, the difference between the performance of a Leo and a Maganac would probably not be too different. Sure, it said the Maganac's performance is superior, but the difference is probably not enough to take on 20 Leos by itself while piloted by an inexperienced pilot. Unless of course the power of Plot Armor is involved (i.e Quatre punching the shit out of a Virgo I with an Aeries), which, let's face it, is something G Wing is famous for (i.e a Leo piloted by a grunt blows up when you sneeze within 50feet of it, while a Leo piloted by Heero can probably survive an orbital strike)
Also, fun fact: the Maganac was based off the Filipino term "mag-anak". Although the word does roughly mean family, it is closer to the word "relative" (i.e you dont use it to describe your direct family, but cousins, aunts etc are lumped in that term). I guess the word "pamilya" (direct translation of family) doesnt strike fear to the hearts of their enemies XD

okay but who would win between Quatre in the Sandrock Custom vs Quattro in the Hyaku Shiki
Hm, well despite some personal favoritism for Cha-I mean Quattro, the advantage is leaning towards Quatre’s favor. The Sandrock has physical weapons, the Gundanium Alloy has some resistance to beam weaponry, and due some awfully convenient skills in piloting way before he ever got into a Gundam along with what we do see of him in the series, Quatre is more likely to hold his own against some of Quattro’s piloting tricks and close-combat maneuvers; including that special kick of his. Only catch is Sandrock performs best on land and is strictly a close-range commander type; even more so as the Endless Waltz version that ditches what little ranged weapons it did have.
The Hyaku Shiki does have the speed advantage especially in space, but with Gundanium’s surprising durability even against some beam weapons, none of its weapons can immediately damage the Sandrock in one or two hits minimum which is kind of a big deal when most battles against individual MS in the UC are decided within one or two hits. There is the Mega Bazooka Launcher which is most definitely strong enough to destroy the Sandrock but only in like a turn-based SD G Generation or Super Robot Wars scenario will that ever work successfully.
