I’m only 27 and i can’t wrap my head around it, that there a people who never heard this song. or that in 5-10 years, the youth won’t know who the gorillaz are. if i ever get a kid, i make sure he grow up with that

I always find it cringeworthy when ppl act like things are a small niche, not so good thing, when in actuality are one of the biggest and best groups in the world and have been around for decades.. I HIGHLY suggest after 'reacting' to a song, looking the artist up afterwards to see formed/albums/sales/awards ect, youre not going to gain a very strong following by remaining ignorant and turning noses up, especially the woman far left.
Honestly, when I was growing up at the time, they were pretty much a niche. And I don’t understand why, considering everyone else on the Internet had a different experience.
I did have some ‘friends’ in middle school and high school who dug Gorillaz, but that’s because I was the one who turned them on.
Most people treated me as weird for being a Gorillaz fan, at least during the self-titled and “Demon Days” eras alike.

The album this song was on was called Demon Days and it was released in 2005 while the Iraq War was going on and supposedly near its end. The chorus says “Windmill windmill for the land, turn forever, hand in hand”. “Tilting at windmills” is a British expression that means fighting an imaginary enemy. Many Brits were upset UK troops were committed to the war. There’s also a line that says “So while you fill the streets, it's appealing to see
You won't get out the county, 'cause you're damned and free”. It’s a really interesting song.

The band Gorillaz has two members- the musician Damon Albarn and the artist Jamie Hewlett. Jamie draws the animated band members 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs, and Noodle. The rappers are De La Soul.
My understanding of this song is that "Feel Good Inc" represents the music industry, keeping everyone locked in a tower and feeding them drugs and keeping them overstimulated.
The singer (2D) wants to get out, but sees "real music" - in the shape of the guitarist (Noodle) on the windmill island - floating away.
The band was conceived as an animated band, so all their songs are accompanied by an animated video.
There's a fictional backstory between the band members, and an ongoing story of sorts, told through their videos.
Was hoping somebody would mention this. It could also be how so many people are caught up in the overstimulation of sex and drugs (note the tower looking similar to a syringe) and either the industry or "friends" essentially calling him a killjoy and to enjoy it to "feel good" where his cries to the windmill play as the hope he has for getting out of the self destructive lifestyle yet everybody around him keeps pulling him back in
Ngl, it would be a great ride for everyone if y'all decide to go on the Gorillaz journey, they have so many amazing songs

The Gorillaz singer/songwriter, Damon Albarn, was also with Blur who you've likely heard perform Song 2.
Their earlier songs that had just a small following in North America (Bang, There's no Other Way, Girls & Boys had some airplay on alternative and college radio). In the UK, they were up there with their arch nemesis, Oasis.

@@NicholasCorvin Blur were so drunk and high on their Leisure tour, that I only saw them unintentionally touring for their 2nd and 3rd albums for the opening acts: Pulp, and then Ned's Atomic Dustbin/Elastica.
Gorillaz are decent, but I mainly saw them to give Damon Albarn a chance to redeem himself live, which he did. He was much more gracious and appreciative of the audience, and put on a great show.
