- Give Me The Simple Life sung by John Payne to Connie Marshall in Wake Up And Dream (1946) with June Haver, John Ireland, Charlotte Greenwood, and Clem Bevens. Here's my friend's new rodeo song Bull Rider: • Bull Rider by Doug Wel...
What a beautiful song, pretty good sung by John Payne!
I certainly have a notion to second THAT emotion ! You obviously have excellent taste ! 😊
@@jubalcalif9100 well, thank you very much, dear Jubal! 🙏
I love this sweet song. ❤️ John Payne is wonderful.
I heartily concur ! It's one of my all time favorite songs. And even though John Payne is no Percy Helton, he's a handsome gent with a sweet singing voice !
Great song and even greater actor, with a dreamy voice, John Payne,
Connie Marshall is so outrageously sweet!!
I heartily concur !
Great song, John Payne and June Haver enjoyable actors, John always very good singer in the Fox musicals especially those with Betty Grable. Would be nice to see more of the movie clips musical numbers. Thanks for the video.
I certainly have a notion to second THAT emotion !!
I just love the film. My son, now 33 and I watched this film together when he was a wee one. I have looked and looked for a copy to no avail. I would love for my little grandson to enjoy this timeless classic. Can anyone out there help me.
Thanks Spacecomics for posting.
You give this sentimental old fool a bit of hope.
Here it is :) ua-cam.com/video/Y4L81fCICbs/v-deo.html
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful !
Thank you.
My sentiments exactly !!
What a great clip!
You speak the truth Kemo Sabe !
In 1977 there was a commercial with this song to: '"Give Me the Campbell Life." (Soup)
Now I know what charm is. I have always loved this simple song by Harry "Hurray for Captain Spaulding" Ruby; now I am hooked on Mr. Payne.
As I do when I take off my hat, you make a good point !!
John Payne was a good, appealing actor who made a good number of musicals and was a better than competent singer.
So very true !!
John Payne is so hot! I wonder why he never released an album of songs back than? He could've had a career as a singer. Excuse me while I go take a cold shower!!
Lol! Gee I sing too
He was no Rondo Hatton, but the late great John Payne was indeed one handsome chap !
@@jubalcalif9100 I had to look up who Rondo Hatton was. I hope that was a sample of your warped sense of humor
at the first look the girl looks like Melissa Gilbert hahhahahah.Lovely classical movie
thanx for posting.
She does indeed !!
I guess we both have the same taste in music. I rented some of John's movies from Netflix, if they had them. I even Goggled images of John and turned them into wallpapers. I'm just a hopeless romantic!
Pardon me for sounding like Mr. Know-It-All when it come to jazz vocal groups of the 40's, but I'm quite positive that the uncredited swing vocal group (singing with the 20th Century Fox orchestra) on the jukebox are The Lyttle Sisters. Definitely not the Merry Macs. Many of the dozens of 40's swing vocal groups had their own distinctive sound, and these sound exactly like The Lyttle Sisters, who were actually the four Gourly Sisters, who sang regularly with Tony Martin. Also they can be heard singing in the Fox film "Margie," made this same year. The year before these film came out, The Lyttle Sisters, again uncredited, were beautifully showcased singing "I Hope The Band Keeps Playing" in a nightclub scene in "Abbott and Costello in Hollywood." (1945).
every year or so I'll check this clip to see if anyone answers my quest to find the group who sings this on the Juke box and I believe you've got it . Thank you Sandaglad, I've already heard a clip of Easter Parade with Fred Astair "Steppin out with my baby ",singing by the Lyttle Sisters with the Meltones,I would agree its them.
Giving correct information is not sounding like Mister know-it-all
I have never heard a version I did not love.
I'll sing it for you. That'll change your mind.
@@hijodelaisla275 Ha !
Danny Hurtwiz the one in the diner who swings is the Actress June Haver great Actress in her time. She also starred in 3 Little girls In Blue.
Indubitably ! She went on to marry fellow actor Fred MacMurray, having a long & happy marriage til his death in 1995. She passed away in 2005.
very nice! thanks for posting!
I agree 100 per cent !!
Love John Payne! Remember "Restless Gun" on TV? Who is the little girl? Seems familiar! I love the old movies!
The little girl is Connie Marshall (1933-2001). www.imdb.com/name/nm0550820/
John Payne may be a somewhat bland actor among the male stars of Fox. But neither Dana Andrews nor Tyrone Power had an ounce of the singing talent that John had. As for Connie Marshall, what a wonderfully talented child actress ! If you like both of these stars, I would recommend "Sentimental Journey".
+pertinax ....Dana Andrews studied opera but gave it up and didn't let on that he could sing, his singing in "State Fair" by R&H was dubbed as he said he didn't sing, he was afraid that he'd end up in musicals and wanted to be in more dramatic roles. I'm currently reading a biography about him that came out in 2012. I think Connie Marshall was a gifted actress, unfortunately I haven't read anything about her so don't know if she continued acting as an adult. I loved her in "Sentimental Journey" also she did a movie with Dana Andrews and Peggy Ann Garner.
+gossamerwings I think that Connie Marshall appeared in another Fox movie with Vincent Price and Gene Tierney. It might have been Dragonwick.
+pertinax ....yes she was in "Dragonwyck"....I wish i knew what became of her but there's nothing about her that i can find.
Well said and well put !!
JOHN PAYNE is a superior actor and its a matter of opinion,JOHN--JOEL MCCREA-- AND RANDOLPH SCOTT all superior western stars and that's that
Don't forget Don Knotts' riveting performance in "The Shakiest Gun in the West" !
this song seems quite similar to the one moon doggie (james darren) sings to gidget (sandra dee) in the 1959 movie. interesting that they would pll it out of the file drawer so many years later.
I also would like to know who sings the one that swings in the diner
I thought the same thing! :)
Great! I just wish you could have extended the clip slightly to include the remainder of the lyrics sung by the chorus. Any chance of that?
I bought the movie in hopes to hear the rest f the song ,but on the clip is the full extent, no more than this ,short lived pleasures
The
End
I like that next song they play/sing in the diner on the juke box.
What is it?
Anyone know?
I'm going to guess, it's the King sisters
My guess it's the CREW CHIEFS. They sang with Tex Beneke and the Glenn Millerr orchestra.
Danny Hurwitz Could be!
songanddanceman100
The song is "Give me the simple life"
songanddanceman100
The song was sung by "The MerryMacs" ,a popular group of the 40s. They appeared in the movie" Ride EM Cowboy' an Abbot and Costello movie on You Tube
is that dog toto?!
So this is where that God-awful Campbells Soup Song came from in the 70s....."Just give me the Campbell's Life!!!!"
Wow, that girl does NOT want to be there...
This was one of the most disappointing movies ever! It had a promising cast: John Payne, June Haver and Charlotte Greenwood but no real musical numbers, terrible color and extremely boring!
The songs good though
@@windstorm1000 Yes, it's a wonderful tune ! One of my all time faves. Been recorded by hundreds of singers and bands over the years.
I'm playing the piano version and it's very boring
