How come no one here is talking about the ethernet port on the Legion 7? This was my game changer that Im glad I didnt go for the slim 7. Downloading steam game using the wifi was 2-5mbps for me, after plugging the ethernet directly, the speed went up to over 100mbps!.... gg.
I bought the Slim 7 AMD Advantage 2 weeks ago and by far the best feature for me is it stays completely silent during normal business use - web browser, messaging, office apps. And during games, especially older titles I can keep it on silent profile and still get solid performance with almost no noise. Coming from a MacBook Pro that almost never made any noise this is HUGE for me. I have it hooked up to a 34" Ultrawide and 2 27" 1080p displays during work hours. I bought a Thinkpad X1 Extreme at first but fans on that laptop were always on and loud from just being plugged in to external displays. Slim 7 is silent! Really loving it so far. And cherry on top - it stays cold to the touch throughout the day during the workday and cools well when playing games. I mostly play Cities Skyline and sometimes some World Of Tanks which it plays on Ultra on a 34" 1440p display with no issues with over 100FPS.
Thank for the sharing your experience with the slim 7. Do you do any video editing with the slim 7, and if you do, do you see a difference to the MacBook pro in terms of performance?
giving the photoshop, after efffect benchmark is really useful. More people need these comparisons more now compared to just gaming benchmarks. Thank you for this!
Longer battery life? Check your specs. The slim you tested had a 71w battery and the legion 7 has a 99w. I get about 6.5-8w browsing on the Legion 7. That’s 10 plus hours
Another great comparison Ben, I like the Lenovo Legion 7 because of its long battery life and its performance. The cons of slimming the chassis are that it reduces performance. But you can still pick the slim 7 if you don't mind a slight decrease in performance for a lighter laptop.
Wow, comparing two AMD laptops from the same manufacturer? I remember the days where I could not find a single AMD laptop in the market, how the times have changed.
Everything for me points to the slim. I wish the ram could run at least 32GB in dual channel for when I start doing revit. The 7 might have to be my next computer when my 2017 surfacebook 2 finally gives up (its close!). Honestly after this review I think the slim might be out, will have to see if I can find the performance drop from dropping dual channel and if its not noticeable real world on the slim then it could redeem it. Essentially I need a laptop for my side projects in IT/Software and a future in revit maybe. So I need a SOLID AMD setup and everything points to legion!
Did you misspeak at 7:40 about the Solidworks score or did you really mean "287" score? Because your bar graph shows 187, but you say this is the best score you've seen. Is 187 the best score you've seen? Or your mistaken 287 score?
first thank you for this amazing and usefull video , if i need a laptop for 3d app like sketchup and render with Vray in real time photo which one i have to choose ? thank you again
Great review! Here is my thought as an engineering student, I will choose legion 7 than the legion 7 slim, as I saw in the test result of autodesk and I really consider the battery life of the legion 7.
Hello, a question. Is a legion slim 7 with ryzen 7 5800H, 32gb ram, rtx 3060 graphics card 4K screen at 60Hz better or a legion 5 with ryzen 5 4600H, 16gb ram, gtx 1650ti graphics 2K screen at 120Hz? For competitive games I don't know if a 60Hz screen is enough
Does anyone have any gaming specs on these 2 models? I know he's more of a creator, so thats what the reviews are geared towards. But how do they rate against, let's say the Acer Helios 300, with the 3070ti?? Thanks all
the big 7 with the AMD 6850M XT will perform better with higher wattage on the GPU, but the slim will probably be either similar or worse than helios with the 100w limit on the lesser S series GPU.
man I'm looking at the scores the Legion 5i got compared to both 7's and I think it might be worth the investment on the 5 based on the comparison. Can the ram be upgraded in the 5i?
I was planning to buy legion 5i i9 13900HX RTX 4070 (140W) 24C 32T but I got told by many don't go with 4070 instead go with 3080 because the performance is going to be the same and battery backup is terrible on 5i pro
1:18 when he said "...and a little sample of audio for you as well" three times in a row... I heard that. Yes, I know I'm not funny, no need to remind me that lmao😂
I need a new laptop in the worst way but I have to admit that I am in the paralysis by analysis mode right now.
What did you pick ?
@@jesushinojosa7248yeah what did you pick?

Come on people... 11K subs to go. This guy does so much... hook him up. You know you watched all Ben G's reviews this holiday season.

@@Grapplezilla I do edit videos sometimes, but I haven't done it on this laptop yet. However, photo editing in Lightroom is super smooth.
@@zhenya2055 Thank you for sharing. 🙂
@Juri V Thank you for the info, appreciate it!
Great job dude, it's the Legion 7 for me. Upgradability is everything. Greetings from Nigeria hope you get to 100k
Legion def did amazing with the slim 7 this year, if only it had better upgradability it might dethrone the 5 and 7 as the best mid ground.
This !! i think 16gb does not quite cut it nowadays. Always better to upgrade to 32 (16 +16 dual ) as opposed to (8+8 or 8+16)
4.52 Lbs vs 5.51 Lbs is 2.5 kg vs 2.49 kg, lol, 4.52 should be 2.05 kg
I chose the 7 only because of the ram upgrade. Otherwise I would have preferred the slim, but I refuse to buy soldered RAM laptop anymore
i have the Lenovo legion 7 full amd+radeon and its amazing
How are you liking the laptop now?
giving the photoshop, after efffect benchmark is really useful. More people need these comparisons more now compared to just gaming benchmarks. Thank you for this!
It is pretty cool that slim 7 comes close to the regular. But legion 7 has more upgradability and that is bonus in terms of future proofing it.
Great review as always 👍 but at 3:27 u have mentioned wrong weight by mistake.,🤗

The only noticeable difference is RX 6800S and RX 6850M XT graphic units in order of gaming FPS matter.
I thought that Legion Slim 7 also has an RGB lit keyboard but not the peripheral edges of the chassis.
i own the legion slim and it does have RGB, only in the keyboard.
How do you always have the exact videos I need????
Another great comparison Ben, I like the Lenovo Legion 7 because of its long battery life and its performance. The cons of slimming the chassis are that it reduces performance. But you can still pick the slim 7 if you don't mind a slight decrease in performance for a lighter laptop.
I love Lenovo laptops, always built with quality. Great video Ben.
i think the legion 7 is the way to go over the slim. The pros outway the cons. If only it was in stock....
legion 7's webcam is clearer and mic. Is on time tracking but in leigion slim 7 it is a bit blurry in edges and mic seems to captire delaued sounda
More ports wins for me, thickness/thinness isn't a big deal to me.
Wow, comparing two AMD laptops from the same manufacturer? I remember the days where I could not find a single AMD laptop in the market, how the times have changed.
I swapped in the 99.99Wh battery into the Legion 7 slim for significantly increased battery life
Where did you get it?
I got the Legion slim 7i (2022) during Black Friday. I was wondering if you have a video on that laptop yet or plan on doing one
Has anyone tried to upgrade their Slim 7 to 40 (8+32) Gigs of Ram ?
Can you make this video again fkr slim 7 vs slim 7i..specifically for ryzen 7 7840hs and i7 13700h?

Is it just me or is the webcam on both laptops better than the ones macbooks have
I am pretty sure lenovo legion slim 7 and 7I hav per key rgb option
Legion Slim 7 is definitely the way to go. Possibly the debate would be between Slim 7 and Slim 7i.
Thanks you so much
What version of DaVinci did you use for the testing?
Great review!
Here is my thought as an engineering student, I will choose legion 7 than the legion 7 slim, as I saw in the test result of autodesk and I really consider the battery life of the legion 7.
How about customization on the Slim 7 to
- Ryzen 7 6800H
- 8GB onboard + 16GB add
-Radeon RX6800s
Really wish they had not canceled last minute the mini led version this year
indeed..
The 7i has a GPU working mode like you mentioned on the 5i and 5 pro. I'm guessing the all AMD is the reason for your slim 7 and 7 not having it.
Is Legion slim 7 a better buy compare to MacBook pro M1 with 1TB? I am not a gamer.
Hello, a question. Is a legion slim 7 with ryzen 7 5800H, 32gb ram, rtx 3060 graphics card 4K screen at 60Hz better or a legion 5 with ryzen 5 4600H, 16gb ram, gtx 1650ti graphics 2K screen at 120Hz?

Great video! Let's get Ben to 100k subs, he deserves it!!!! Ben, keep on with the great content!!!!
Any chance you'll get to test the legion 7i?
wait what. Legion slim 7 is heavier than 7 . Thats insane
No, the slim model is around .7 lbs lighter.
