This is so far my favorite song. I needed some time to get used to this kind of music. But today I either was in the mood for it, or it’s the song. What I always loved was their voices that’s why I wanted to find out more. Also from the guide i know the music style changes so I am looking forward to listen to the next songs. Piano man is the first song I am adding to my playlist 🫶
Esna is one of the people who was involved in writing pianoman, ahh oop and some of the other jazzy mamamoo songs. When you watch ahh oop, and after you rank it.. would recommend watching ""eSNa (에스나), 'Ahh! Oop!', MAMAMOO (마마무). What really happened." | ep.010 | NSC HIGHLIGHTS" followed by ahh shit by esna for a bit of fun. Esna was hard done by RBW with this song. its an interesting (and sad) story.
i'm usually say i was a moomoo when i came across peppermint chocolate by complete accident, but i deep down i KNOW it was moonbyul doing a coyote ugly in piano man that legit made me fall in love with the greatest GG of all time.
You haven't caught the lyrics, have you? :D Here's an excerpt: As your fingertips sweep down the keys I think I keep getting naughty thoughts My chest is staccato Hey Mr. Ambiguous My whole body is like a piano The story of Ahh! Oop! is pretty sad. Esna is very very bitter about it, and kind of hates RBW with a passion, though she bears no grudge against Mamamoo themselves, just the company. There's a video where she talks about it, if you are interested (dunno if it's reaction material, but just in case you want to know more): ""eSNa (에스나), 'Ahh! Oop!', MAMAMOO (마마무). What really happened." | ep.010 | NSC HIGHLIGHTS"
Also one of my favorites and they dont drop the jazz and retro, they do it again and for Solar one of her solos(Big Booty which she wrote the lyrics and music for). Also, you didnt have the lyrics, something else about mamamoo is they are not afraid to push Korean conservatism, They are singing about a man and what he can do to a woman's body as one of Wheein's lines says. Mamamoo is also one of the few groups I recommend watching everything Live and the MVs because their MVs are well produced almost telling a story as a performance not simply choreo.
the first song that got me into them and the song that hooked me 1. Piano Man 2. Don't Be Happy 3. Heeheehaheho 4. Mr. Ambiguous 5. Baton Touch 6. Peppermint Chocolate 7. I Do Me
The song that made me a Moomoo. Although I knew of Mamamoo for two years, I did not 'dive in' to their material. My loss but I still probably would have not been able to see them live even if I had been an avid Moomoo from the off. Thank you for reminding about the Piano version. Hopefully I have that somewhere. I have various videos of Piano Man, live from TV shows.
On. The. Top. The only thing about this that is working less, for me, is the drop off at the end. I'm never ready for it to end. Still always a replay when it spins up on shuffle.
Really great song, my favourite so far. Their vocals are just perfect for these jazzy songs (and for any genre they decide to do) 1. Piano Man 2. Mr. Ambiguous 3. Don’t be happy 4. Peppermint Chocolate 5. Baton Touch 6. Heeheehaheho
1. Piano Man 2. Mr.Ambiguous 3. Don't Be Happy 4. Heeheehaheho 5. Baton Touch 6. Peppermint Chocolate 7. I DO Me I LOVE this song. It is probably one of my favorite Mamamoo songs period. It took a few listens before I really appreciated it, but once I did I never stopped listening to it. This song will probably top the list for me for a long while. Can't wait for more 💙
I was thinking that with your ultimate ranking if you're going by album/single release you will miss some great CF song releases and OST releases but you may already have them on your lists but if you don't have them I would recommend including some of the following Mamamoo songs that are part of a CF or OST: 1.) Woohoo - released April 2016 as part of a commercial music video LG commercial. 2.) Everyday - Released March 2018, commercial music video for a yogurt brand. 3_ Sky! Sky - released July 2018 as part of a mobile game commercial music video 4) Gleam - released July 2019 as part of a glasses commercial. Has an MV 4) WOW - 2019 song from a Kdrama called WWW:Search (great drama) 5) Wanna Be Myself - released 2020 commercial music video for an athleisure company NOTE: I probably left some songs out so anyone can jump in to comment. But HIGHLY recommend including these songs in your ranking but no pressure! Just really love some of these songs lol My ranking so far :) 1- Piano Man 2 - Mister Ambiguous 3 -Don't be happy 4- Heeheehaheho 5 - I Do Me 6- peppermint Chocolate
Oh don’t worry. So what I use for the rankings is Kpop Profiles. If the OST’s are on there, I rank them. But regardless even if they aren’t I’ll be reacting to plenty of Mamamoo 🤟 Just probably won’t be ranking those ones
You are really going to struggle often. I assume this is true all the times you do the rankings though. Again, this next point i am going to make is probably true for other groups too. The lyrics of many mamamoo songs have a good meaning, and usually add to the aesthetic of the MV or the song. Unfortunately, one of things that does not translate well to the lyrics is they very often have word play in their songs, that we english speakers miss out on. Mentioning this because, as someone else pointed out - This sing has lyrics where they are asking the pianist to play their body, like the piano.
Yeah I see your point but I honestly have to stress how when it comes to music, it’s the music and vocals and feeling I focus on more than anything else. I appreciate the meaning of lyrics don’t get me wrong but my adhd will simply not allow me to focus on the lyrics as well as the MV and the music 😂

Sounds good! 😄

Mamamoo has e best discography in all kpop history
This is such a good song. All the instrumental melodies can stand on their own topped off w/ godly mamamoo vocals 👌

@@K-RossReacts please include them. Some of them I predict will go straight to playlist. (Gleam and wanna be myself)
first time i heard this song and let me just say its really good top so far for me but still not all time my top mamamoo song :D
I’m agreeing with you great sounds great visual, I’m also not sure if it’s above or below ,so as you put it at 2 I’ll put it first 😄
Hahah COIN FLIP
Please do Decalcomanie❤❤❤
I’ll be getting to it, I go through all their official songs in chronological order 😄
