  • In this video action steps and procedures necessary to replace in service the rear differential in a 2014 or 2018 GM vehicle. The vehicle shown in this video is a 2014 Chevy Silverado 2wd and is equipped with the 5.3l engine. GM recommends you will replace the fluid in these differentials every 30,000 miles. Especially if you’re doing a lot of towing or if you have big off-road tires.     There is a magnet that sits on the bottom of the diff under the ring gear.its glued in place

    I was given good advice and will pass it on….Always break loose the fill plug FIRST before you let all the oil out. If it is rusted in place or damaged preventing removal, it’s a bad time to figure that out once all the oil is drained.

    You missed the most important part. You never cleaned out inside the bottom of the diff housing where all the dirt and break in filings sit.

    Just changed mine thanks, i tried the hose and pump, I found it easier to squirt it in using the squirt bottle. If your oil does not come with squirt cap use a generic condiment bottle
