- Yesterday we did a Stadium Tour of the current home of SCHALKE - Arena AufSchalke or the Veltins-Arena for sponsorship purposes... TODAY we look at the home of Schalke II (the old ground of the first team) the PARKSTADION which hosted games in the 1974 World Cup as well as concerts for big artists such as the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and of course MICHAEL JACKSON 🤩 Schalke currently play in the 2. Bundesliga - the 2nd division of German football, but despite having most of their success in the 1930s and 40s, they are still one of Germany's BIGGEST Football Clubs ⚽️ Did you ever go to the ParkStadion in Gelsenkirchen⁉️ Share your thoughts in the comments below and SUBSCRIBE for more stadium tours of grounds new, old & gone. Bring on EURO 2024 👍🏽🇩🇪

Glück Auf! 💙🤍
72000 were allowed until 1998 then the south curve was rebuilt with seats from then only 62000 were allowed. the park stadium was at times the largest Bundesliga stadium since berlin long in the 2 league
Yeah crazy these Schalke Fans. Gelsenkrichen is a very poor city, and "only" has 260.654 people in it still the stadium is full each game. Many city in Germany with bigger population cant do this. Look at Hertha BSC Berlin stadium never full. And not just Football, also Ice Hockey, The city broke the world record with the most visitors ever...
Fun fact: Schalke broke the world record for average attendance this season for a second league by almost 5000 spectators. Over 60.000 on average.
That’s impressive! 🤝🏼🍻
Should have known that.
I am from Gelsenkirchen could have show you around
2001 i was there and you have a pic of two friends of my in your Video
Awesome 😊🍻
@@RysFootyParadise are you around on ec
In Michael Jackson’s film ‘Moonwalker,’ Michael sings the song ‘Man in the Mirror’ right at the beginning. And in the background of this moment, you can see the sign ‘Parkstadion Gelsenkirchen.
I saw a bit of it on UA-cam, brilliant 🤩
Wow.awesome ...I am a die hard Michael Jackson fan❤ and a huge Germany football fan either...🇩🇪
MJ is the king.
Let me give you an Informationen about the 1997 History concert then.
It got canceled Hours bevore
@@baast5959 In the video, he was first talking about his 'Bad' World Tour in 1988 which also took place in Gelsenkirchen, so Michael Jackson has actually been there almost ten years before the HIStory World Tour... ;)
P.S. According to Wikipedia, the HIStory show at Parkstadion has not been cancelled and took place on June 15 in 1997, with an attendance of 50,000. I'm not sure who to believe in now. When it comes to some topics, Wikipedia can be slightly misleading... :D
I nearly choked on my coffee when you done the Michael Jackson impersonation Ry 🤣
Haha who remembers the show “Bo Selecta” 😅
Now at the Arena AufSchalke starts AC/DC their Tour 2024.
Unfortunately they don't come to Berlin this year, because the Olympic Stadium is reserved for the german Cup final and after that for the EURO.
Last summer there I saw Depeche Mode .
Oh wow 🤩 do enjoy AC/DC 🎸
A few facts: It took nearly twenty years after the stadium was abandoned that it was renewed. However the first game was cancelled due to Covid, while the club had massive financial problems which also led to the relegation.
So while the club struggled to pay any bills. The Ultras managed to raise some money through scarf sales and paid for the renovation of the last remaining floodlight tower who officialy openned in January 2023 in a training session with just 9 points in the Bundesliga.
After this schalke only lost 5 games in the back half of the season but sadly didn't manage to hold the class.
But every evening this beautiful old tower lights up the Berger Feld (this is what the whole area with Stadion, Arena, training pitches, etc. is called)
Thank you for sharing 💙🤍
Super thank u for sharing 👍
Back in 1987 the Pope Johannes Paul II was in the Parkstadion too.
Margaret Thatcher have a trip there too?… 🇬🇧
The Pope even gained a membership at Schalke.
So one could say God himself has voting rights.
Didn´t helped much, but could be worse and the forces of evil are strong these days.
What ever will happen, God is on our side...
Awesome video Ry best UA-camr on the planet, so inspiring ❤❤❤
