  • How to fit a shower tray base riser kit, so that the waste can be run above floor level. Great if you cannot get the waste under the floor.

    Is it ok to stick the legs directly onto the tray? In the riser kit instructions it says to attach legs to plywood baseboard and then lay the tray on it with sand and cement

    What stops the tray from coming out from the wall?

      The weight. Also mastic to wall. Some do come with fixing clips depends on the model.

    out of interest, did you tip some water down that pipe to leak test it before you put it against the wall, or have you just been doing it long enough that you know its going to be ok? Whenever I do any plumbing I spend the next week looking underneath with a torch ;)

    Great vid. I'm doing mine shortly, regarding the dealing to the walls is it best to Mastic to tiles, or mastic to a wall (possib!y chased if not square) and tile up to the top of the tray?

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  Рік тому

      Mastic to wall with tiles coming down onto the tray. Start tiling from the tray and work up the wall.

    I have seen videos of other shower tray installations without a riser kit where the tray is glued directly to the floor or bedded down on sand and cement to secure the tray in place. When using a riser kit how would you secure the tray in place to stop it from moving? Am I right in thinking that so far only the CT1 is preventing movement? Would this be sufficient or do the riser feet need to be glued in place also?

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  Рік тому +2

      The shower tray has enough weight that mastic around the two sides will hold it. No need to glue the feet down. Make sure you use CT1 mastic.

    hi, thank you for the video, i was hoping to do this with my shower, however i wanted to ask if its safe to use on a plastic shower? or does it weaken the base? my fella quite large. I also was hoping you would be able to advise on what point you would hook it up to the pip going outside? before adhesive or after and go underneath? if that makes sense? thank you in advance.

    Any tips on fitting a tray where the corner walls are not square?
    Doing the waste first does seem a lot easier than the way we do it - struggling with the small gap 😂

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  3 роки тому +2

      Cant help you with tray except to fill the corners with mastic, or chase out the wall. I always do the waste first.

    • @stephengraham1153
      @stephengraham1153 Рік тому

      I had a block-work wall seriously out of plumb and not square with the other side of the corner. I fixed it by using Gyplyner to create a metal framed wall lining and then fixed tile backer board to the frame. Worked a treat.

      @@dereton33 thanks! I ended up building off blockwork on the concrete floor for belt and braces!.. I'm seeing a tiny amount of compression in the legs when I stand on the edges of the tray - maybe barely 1mm. The tray feels rock solid otherwise. The legs I used are identical to yours. Did you notice any flex in yours? I'm assuming there must be a bit of give in the screw thread and the foam pad on top. Am i being paranoid or is this normal?
