- You are watching some of the very first moments your English ancestors looked into the lens of a camera. I wanted to stitch together a timeline of some of the very first waves and smiles of the English people captured on film. It's particularly sweet when the kids chase the camera and doff their caps in amusement and curiosity!

Me too. My house was built in the year this film began. It is painfully sad, those people, all dead now, looked so bright and optinistic and they would be outraged at the state of Great Britain now. I feel I've let them down, even though I've worked hard, raised my children to be decent members of society, etc.

My Grandpa grew up before cars. Queen Victoria was still on the throne when he was born. He saw horses as the norm when he was a child. Electricity was new. He was a wagon maker, sign writer, bell ringer and church warden. Hands like leather. Kind, wise and unmistakably indigenous English.
Rugged but a gentleman.
When he worked he wore a working class flat cap and white shirt with braces and sleeves rolled up. Shiny black hair Brylcreemed back like an Italian of that era.
When it was the weekend he wore an expensive trilby and suit.
An Englishman down to his spit shined Chuches brogues.
Three decades later I still miss him and people like him.

My message was aimed to convey that I left my homeland because I had no support system at all so as a youngster I took a big chance to 'start a new life'. After living amongst foreigners for over a decade to see all those ethnically English people in the video gave me goosebumps and made me understand how disjointed it all is on so many levels.

My Nan was born in 1900, when Queen Victoria was still on the throne! I have photos of her holding up her petticoats in the foaming waves under the old West Pier in Brighton as a little girl. Her stories and the stories my mother told me of their childhood in the 1920s/30s, are like something out of Dickens! I'm so grateful to have that connection to the "old world".
It's vital that the present generation reconnects with their forebears. They have been deprived of that pride and understanding of their history and lineage.

She told me that before WW1, on Sundays, all the girls and boys would put on their Sunday best and parade on Hove Lawns. The boys walking one way; the girls, the other. Eyeing up the talent!! She looked after the injured WW1 officers, taking them on the West pier. They called her "the girl with the china blue eyes."Good working class stock and as strong as an ox. She left us at 94. My grandmother and grandfather were both born in Rotherhithe London in 1900 Pop went in 1967 and Nan in 1989 . Miss them both .

Excellent as always. I was actually helping my grandad go through old documents and family tree items. Although I grew up in Canada, I still consider my self English or at least Anglo. I found out two relatives died in France in WWI and I was able to hold letters and documents they signed over 100 years ago. Even have a handwritten invintory from my great great grandfather's shop in Brighton.
I suppose that's why online DNA tests and history websites are so popular now. People feel disconnected from the past of our ancestors and what they accomplished and build. Makes it worse seeing what we have let it degenerate into. I wonder if my relatives whose names are carved into the Vimy Ridge memorial or burried at Tyne Cot would recognize the nation's they built and protected

My parents came to Canada after WW 2. We still have both my grandfathers British military medals from WW 1, trench art, a log book and a captured Ottoman military prayer rug still in the family. I used to have a photo of a group of street kids in Manchester that included my father, and one of my mother, a `Berkshire girl, both taken in the early 1920s.

Thanks for putting together such a beautiful video, what jumps right out at you is the sheer volume of children in the public space, a much healthier society indeed. The public seem happier too, so much energy or something, its hard to find words to describe it. The populace seemed to know that they were part of something much greater than themselves, and that is unfortunately lost on our contemporaries.

Funny to imagine my grandma whom I knew when I was a child and a teen, was a young girl and nearly a teen herself during the time these video clips were filmed.

That first clip brought back memories. When I was young, you used to have flocks of feral pigeons everywhere. In fact, you could buy small packets of bird food from a man in Trafalgar Square and feed the pigeons there. They used to crowd around you and they used to get very close, so close that I remember the wind from their wings in my face. This was around fifty years ago.
I fed the pigeons in Trafalgar Square in the mid-1980s, when my nan would take me up to London for the day. I've got a picture of me standing there feeding them somewhere.

I watched your vid about the government deflecting the grooming gang petition, you seemed to speak in favor of deportation in that vid. The Britisher says ALL nationalists are n@zi monsters and that's why they support evils like deportation. The Britisher also said he doesn't care if all of England becomes African as long as they drink tea and share his attitudes. If he is a man of genuine good faith maybe you could discuss this on a stream with him? You would attract a lot of people to your channel and it would help clarify things. Is your friend just throwing sht at us because of his own emotionally based biases (they seem extreme ironically) or is there something that we nationalists need to hear? Leaving things as is wastes an opportunity. You are perfectly placed to speak to him and we must have these discussions openly as a normal thing or what will soon be left of England will not be enough to survive.

It was a really good movie to watch, some of it reminded me of my grandmothers photos of her as a girl and of my great grandmother as a girl, they have since been lost since nan died and my aunt's in law took it upon themselves to clear the house for selling before we had even buried her, lots of photos, pictures and ornaments went missing. She always said that her mother told her that during the wartime, both of them, was some of the best times she had, they were hard and worrying but the solidarity and friendships built on those times lasted a lifetime, women's lives changed completely and they were suddenly thrown into learning new tasks, everyone was put on an equal footing and was responsible for doing their bit no matter the time of day your designated job started. Neighbours all helped eachother with childcare, cooking, gardening, laundry if one was working. So whar3vvd sect

I love silent film in general, and aside from comedies, the documentary reels are some of my favorites. You can see, especially here, how the world was still very Victorian. Love it!

I was watching The Ladykillers today , Kings Cross, St Pancras 1955. How times have changed , apart from Herbert Lom the only non Briton was an Irish fella. It looked plenty vibrant to me.
Truly sad to think most of these only around a decade later would die in the First Great War.

Very evocative; especially as we know that many of those young boys will find themselves in the trenches 12 to 15 years later.
Not all from Britain though? We go to Russia at around 7 minutes in, those are Russian soldiers on the right hand side of the screen. In the group portrait in the following scene the man in uniform looks like an Austro-Hungarian or Italian soldier. Not sure, hard to see clearly but not British.

Even as an American I'm proud of my Austrian roots. Small town there named for my family. I think Poland and Hungary have the right idea. I can see a future where we will be forced to take up arms to keep our culture
