Much better WW sprite art here. IJ2 has ugly, woke female fighters. Supergirl is animated well, but she's busted. Black Manta looks amazing & The Atom looks totally half-assed; 0 consistency. Too many guest characters, too.
An advantage Wonder Woman had was her bracelets let her reflect an enemy’s beam/projectile attack back at them. Even Darkseid’s Omega beams, if I remember right. If it’s a tall projectile like the Flash’s tornado, it can’t be reflected.
Of all the villains they could have picked to work for Darkseid, Cheetah feels the most random. And to have her fight after Despero's is even more questionable considering Despero is stronger than Cheetah.
They probably just included her for fanservice. You know, tits and all. It's like someone during production said "ok, we need another villain to work for Darkseid, and they need to be a good fanservice character since we can't just have one".
@@camulodunon That and you can't do Wonder Woman and NOT have Cheetah. Some might say they are like Batman and Joker, or depending on your opinion, Superman and either Luthor or Darkseid (universe as environment the latter).
Yeah, Cheetah is probably the most slept on DC villain. She has Flash adjacent speed, and because her powers come from an evil god, her talons can damage literally anything. Catwoman runs into her in "When in Rome", and lays out a pretty coherent case why she would fight Bane any time but wouldn't dream of fighting the Cheetah.
It's a pretty solid albeit basic SF2 style fighter but keep in mind that it kinda lacks any real depth if you're used to fighting games like this. The only reason this isn't in the bargain bin is the fact that it's a Justice League game.
While most of the characters fight like Street Fighter with some Mortal Kombat attributes (freezing opponents) and some dashing tactics, but Cheetah fights like one of the few characters from Samurai Shodown - basically a fusion of Gen'an and Nakoruru's moves, the fighting style partially from the former.
I haven't played as Cheetah in the SNES game yet, but what I can tell you is that cheetah in the Genesis game is the fastest bastard you'll ever have to fight behind Jetta Maxx, and she's got this bullshit air attack that takes almost all your health and usually ends the round, yeah.
I know it's bad AI and all that, but I enjoyed seeing Wonder Woman totally dominate over Darkseid after so many messed up adaptations of Wonder Woman or just versions that get wrecked too easily by too many.
It's completely inaccurate though. No version of Wonder Woman is that powerful. Even the likes of Mongul would kill her if they fought, and he is far less powerful than Darkseid.
Despite both getting quite a bit of flak, this and the Genesis game by Condor are perfectly decent SF2 style fighters that are perfect if you want a 2D fighter with DC characters. The SNES game is certainly the more polished product overall but I feel like the Genesis game has this strange charm that you won't find in this game.
To me, the biggest difference between this and the Mega Drive version is that the SNES version has characters bounce when they hit the ground while the Mega Drive version just sees them SPLAT in comical fashion.

The Penguin, Cat Woman, Darksyde, Luthor, Darkseid....hubiese sido emocionante....
The art is indeed great, but the animation doesn't really hold up to any of the Neo Geo fighters that came out around the same time. I'd say it looks better than the first couple Fatal Furies but that's about it. I actually prefer the way the Genesis game looks. Not quite as professionally drawn but in return it has larger sprites, a more spaced out playfield, and 3D floor scrolling. And in my opinion it has a more authentic, comic look to the sprites.
The Mortal Kombat folks did a "MK vs. DC Universe" game a while back that was the proof of concept used for "Injustice." So you wonder if they learned from this game when they did their own.
Granted with SNES limitations this is poor game designers. Some of the stages did not match the heroes except for Aquaman, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. The stages should’ve had music as well and it’s nothing but running water. If they could convert arcade Street Fighter 2 into Super Nintendo with great animations and graphics that tells you ther the SNES can hold more animations and better graphics. I feel the sprites were squashed causing some blurriness on the visual of the super heroes and villains.
In between was Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, which showed you could give comic characters a battle upgrade if the story conditions allowed it. That game had the Elder Gods confer on Liu Kang more powers as their champion with the cry of "MORTAL KOMBAT!" in the style of Shazam.

I think the main problem people have with this game is that it fails to really bring anything new to the table, and in general it doesn't have that much depth. Like, outside of cheetah, all the characters feel basically the same with a lot of them having functionally equivalent moves with the same button inputs, and on top of that there isn't any unique gameplay feature it has that a bunch of other SF2 clones that came out earlier didn't have. Outside of that, it's a thoroughly solid fighter and perfect for DC comics fans at the time who wanted to beat the shit out of each other as superheroes.
Some of the gameplay footage were recycled into Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (XBOX 360) which was released by Midway and had a ESRB rating of T for Teen despite having DC Universe characters (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc) fighting alongside Mortal Kombat characters (including Scorpion, Liu Kang and Sub Zero) against Darkseid (who was hired by Shao Khan and Shang Tsung)
@@pliniomsann I've never understood how people have trouble with the special moves in the Genesis game. I guess you could say the move system isn't quite as polished as those of it's contemporaries but often times I don't have much of a problem literally spamming hadouken motions (mostly Green Arrow's attacks since he's my main). And I also prefer how the Genesis game relies a bit more on charge moves, on top of there being more moves overall for the characters. I kind of agree on sound, the in game music is honestly not great and doesn't fit in the game at all but the cutscene music, character select music, credits music and high score table music are pretty epic imo.
