    I study electrical and electronics engineering, it was not my first pick, I study this because I could not enter to computer engineering department but I still want to do programming so now I try to find subdivisions and other possible ways to find something I can enjoy doing after I graduate electrical and electronics engineering. But, I was hopeless, thinking I won't be able to find a job I actually want which is related with my own department but you gave me hope, after I graduate I will definitely try to change career.

    Great video thanks for doing this mate, I've just graduated from my degree apprenticeship as an automation engineer (mainly for industrial applications). I like the idea of embedded system work as you get to do the fun stuff without doing shifts in a factory, what IDE would you recommend for starting out? If it works on MacOS that would be even better! Cheers

    • @GreidiAjalik
      @GreidiAjalik  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the support Arnie! The IDE would depend on what boards you’re using, but STM32 has a decent one. I personally use MSVSC to edit my code and then just use the mcu specific IDEs for compiling and debugging.

  • @michaeljcarn

    I graduated with my EE degree in 2019. Currently working with automation and controls in the manufacturing industry. I work a lot with PLCs and other industrial devices. The pay is very good, but I don’t feel very engaged by this type of work. Plus the travel can be brutal at times - usually 1 month trips at a time. Im hoping to transition to an embedded systems or product development position within the next year.

      Thanks for the support Edgar!! Really appreciate it! I don't think I will do a video directly about it, but I'm planning on doing a Crypto Trading Bot video series where I could build it into an application and discuss about packaging the python program... but, you can look into using PyInstaller, which is one way to package the application.

    Is it possible to learn embeded systems all by myself? I have no electrical or software background . Im a mould maker but embeded system driving me crazy . Biggest problem is to find the right way to learn it . I started like 4 months ago and bought 4 books on python but after watching you it seems like a mistake

    • @GreidiAjalik
      @GreidiAjalik  3 роки тому +2

      Hey WAKAS! Short answer is Yes, you can totally learn it by yourself! I understand where you’re coming from, it’s important to have the right focus. I’m personally a visual learner so I really prefer UA-cam videos, but some books are good. If you’ve already learned python it’s very good and highly important skill to have in embedded world. You can program in both c and python (c is just the most common one). I’d recommend refocusing and start with c programming (check description for some two really good and extensive tutorials in C). Then buy a development board (raspberry pie or stm32) you can program both in C. Hope this helps, let’s stay in touch and let me know if you have any other questions! You got this man! Cheers!

    Hi man. How was the process of getting a visa/job in the US?
    I'm currently an Electronic Tech in Scotland (from here originally). I hold a Bachelors in Electronic Engineering, and might have the opportunity to do a Masters at my current workplace (I work in a university). I've always loved Embedded engineering - software and hardware, so I'll probably go down this path. I'd love to move to the US once I get my Masters, so any info you might have on how to do that would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers, and keep the videos coming!

      Hey! Glad to have you here! TBH the process itself can be pretty stressful. I came to the USA on a student visa (F1), after graduation I got OPT + STEM OPT. Then got my green card through marriage to a US citizen.
      Your best options are probably H1B and L visas if you do school abroad - maybe UK has some other visas for USA that I'm not aware of to enter USA for work.
      Cheers! Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

    • @GreidiAjalik
      @GreidiAjalik  3 роки тому +1

      For a student I’d recommend a portable one... you could look into analog discovery 2 by digilent (they should offer student pricing). You’d want to look for how many samples per second you need, resolution, bandwidth, input ranges, and triggers.

    Wow. That sounds exactly like what I am currently experiencing. Do you have any advise???
    Summary: I was a process engineer. I started tinkering with python code to automate filling out tidious paperwork and automatically print it. Something that took 30 min can be done in seconds now. I never studied CS or anything like that so I discovered that I really love to code. Started doing other projects, but I was dissatisfied with my job since I wanted to do more. Had a job offer but bc of hiring freeze, didn't end up going there so I dropped everything and started my Masters in CPS (I started this August). However, now I'm unemployed and lack of income had a crushing beating to my mental health (depressed) -- well technically I work as a TA on the school but pay is so low and work is bla that I do not consider it "real" work --- so I'm currently interviewing but for Industrial engineering and other similar positions so I'll probably dip out from this in person masters program, start working again, and just go for an online Masters degree as that is much more flexible. But I really really WANT to do software. I know R, Matlab, Python, Visual Basic, and starting to learn C. I've implemented some applications to a SQL server, including web app but it was simple and made through flask so very basic.
    Any recommendations as to how I can "break in" into software???
    Should I just continue my plan? That is... Accept job offer as Industrial engineer, work for X years while I complete an online masters in CS or similar (data eng also seems interesting) and then go look for a software job or similar, or is there something I can do TODAY?
    Any recommendations? Advise?

    I can relate to all what you said. I am currently also EE student entering the final years. Still wondering why didnt I take CS lol. Thinking of changing to software but I'm not sure to go with which one. Right now I'm self-learning about ML and going for Deep Learning later on. Do you have any advice for a final year EE student who somehow loves to code? Which part should I explore? Im kind of dilemma for my future rn.
    Also, if you are thinking of creating discord community of EE major going SWE, do tell me. I would love to exchange views and information with them.
    p/s: google's recommendation is very scary. they already know me in person hahaha.

    • @GreidiAjalik
      @GreidiAjalik  2 роки тому +1

      Finish your EE degree and spend majority of electives on programming courses. Switching careers once you have an engineering degree will be pretty straight forward. Also do some LeetCode to prepare for the coding interviews. Don't stress about your first job... it's your first job ... just be good at it, whatever you decide to do.
