Before Stallone would enter the set, we had to chant, " Rocky Rocky Rocky" in fake Russian accents. Eye Of The Tiger was blaring from the loud speakers. The speech he gave at the end was improvised, and we all had tears in our eyes.
If I remember correctly they asked you all to dress as "drab commies" lol. As much fun as that probably was I imagine it was also a lot of standing around. All worth it though.

And the public was downright hateful and rude. Had Stallone wanted to idealize America, he didn't have to include any of that. After all, he did write and direct this movie. And as for Rocky's believability as an athlete...there actually ARE people who are made of sturdier material than others. Some people's bones are heavier, some people's muscles and tendons are more durable...just a fact of life. Real life boxers like Ali, Frazier, and Holyfield took brutal beatings in the ring. Some football players play for over a decade and absorb incredible punishment...others don't get through one minicamp...For a guy to be as durable as Rocky would be very unusual...but it's not nearly as farfetched as you make it sound.
I truly believe after all these years as an Actor, Director, producer and writer Sly is so underrated, the man is incredible I don't think he has an equal. How he hasn't won more awards is beyond me. A true living legend.
He talks slow and slurred and that droop of his face makes him look stupid. Not flashy, charismatic or energetic.without cinematic enhancement. He is great actor, fine writer with and competent director. Similar style than Clint Eastwood has - matter-of-fact without embellishments or trickery.
I feel like BECAUSE he is so smart and evolved he is not a good fit for the Hollywood machine. Seems like he doesn't care much for the charade, hence he's being ignored by it. Makes me like him even more.
The title should say, "Free Film School By Sylvester Stallone". Anyone wanting to be a filmmaker needs to watch this over and over. Let every word sink in. Mr. Stallone is literally giving away free filmmaking tips that others have paid thousands to know.
Sly def isn't underrated.... but I hear you. This movie , Rocky IV, is one of the greatest movies, ever. It has always been my favorite, since I first seen it in 1989, at 6 years old... the mind behind it all is why!
"I must break you" ... that is a killer line. Sly is master of pumping up an audience and actually never gets the credit he deserves. Very intelligent and hard working guy. Him and Arnie are a big part of my teen life. Thank you Sly, Arnie, Dolf, and all of those 80s and 90s action stars.

Stallone explains the very valid reasons as to why he felt compelled to Recut the movie….and in my opinion, he’s made Rocky4 SO much better than what was originally released in the Cinema! This Director Cut made Rocky 4 much more grounded, and much closer to the first Two Rocky movies, which were by far, the best!! It’s just like Stallone says, this Recut is much more of a Drama rather than being like a MTV Rock Video ….
When you are your own worst critic, your work ends up being amazing. The way that Sly analyzes these characters, the story, camera angles, and lighting is amazing on so many levels. He is a true genius of his craft. For all the fanfare still very underrated.

Not only is Rocky IV my favorite of the Rocky Saga, but it's truly a perfect film in my opinion. It's a 90 minute film and it feels as if it flies right by in not even 40 minutes. So emotional when Apollo Creed dies. I saw this film in the movies and everyone in the theatre shedded a tear when Apollo died .

Stallone is really treating this director's cut like a chance to really improve the film, make up for mistakes/lost opportunities, etc. and not just cash-in on an anniversary for Rocky IV. You also get a deeper insight to him as an actor, director, person, etc.

what I have always admired about Sly, is that he has NEVER been afraid to admit when he is wrong, or when he has screwed up. and when I hear him talk about his mistake of killing Apollo off and how mad Carl would be.....it just brings me back to how much I now admire this older more wise gentleman.
I just watched all six rocky movies for the first time (they are all free on UA-cam!) and now I’m obsessed. More importantly, being a 90s kid, I learned so much interesting pop cultural information that I never would have known otherwise. For example, I had no idea that Mr. T’s catchphrase, “i pity the fool”, is from rocky 3. I had no idea Mr. T was even in any of the rocky movies. I also didn’t know he was a professional wrestler at one point. By the 90s and 2000s, he was in a lot of commercials saying funny lines, but I had no idea why he was famous, or where those phrases came from. I feel so culturally enlightened now lol. There’s no much that my generation doesn’t know about American pop culture history. This is why I love and appreciate older movies, music and tv shows so much. Thank you, Mr. Stallone! You made a helluva franchise. The ultimate ‘feel good’ movies. 👍🏽
I’m 45 yrs old and had an accident this past August where I tore both my patellar tendons. My recovery has not been easy. In spite of the pain, I always push myself during physical therapy and imagine I’m Rocky in one of those training montage scenes. The first time I walked around my house again I played ‘Eye of the Tiger’. Thanks Mr. Stallone for creating Rocky, one of the most iconic motivational characters of all time.
I am in physical therapy also. I had rotator cuff shoulder surgery and am 2.5 months post op. I am also watching the Rocky movies and listening to the Rocky music to motivate me! I can’t raise my arm yet and I am aiming for Christmas with Eye of the Tiger and especially the main Rocky theme! LOL It really motivates me!!
I've been in Sylester Stallone mode all morning for some reason, and I've never respected the man more than I have today! Watching him go back and explain why he's editing his movie the way he is, is enthralling! Makes me wish I were there with him watching him at work and explain why he's doing what he's doing - what he thought then vs. what he thinks now. It's all in life's experiences and the "growing up" that he's done since this movie was made. COMPLETELY FASCINATING!!!
One thing that comes across very clear in the final cut, was that humanity in Drago. His reaction to the lights, music, dancers, etc as he enters the ring shows a childlike wonder, as if this is the first time he’s ever seen something fun. This of course quickly transitions to rage as he realizes it’s at the expense of himself. We see it again when he’s asked about his steroid use, his wife answering for him while he looks around in shame and guilt. Everyone speaks and makes his choices for him, so when he finally fights Rocky, and sees the true passion and resolve this man has with no steroids or machine powering him, and isn’t here to make a joke of Drago. Drago earns a respect for Rocky over the course of the fight, Drago finding his own passion in what he does as a fighter, not as a political symbol. It’s here where Drago is able to break free from the leash of his superiors, and fight back, throwing his manager into the crowd. The look of terror on his manager’s face as he realizes this mule is sentient and free thinking is enough to show the years oppression Drago has gone through.
I saw an interview with Dolph Lundgren that he wasn’t acting when he first saw James Brown, the dancers, the music and the whole scene going on around him. He said he wasn’t expecting such a spectacle.
I feel like Stallone is beating himself up for the Masterpieces he created. Stallone and Rocky are the best with so many life lessons. My favorite movie of all time
Love seeing this side of sly. Many grew up with his movies watched and saw the ‘actor’. I’m appreciating this stepping out of the actor skin and his appreciation and vision and analysis for the craft. This man really is an artist in his own right.
I should be asleep to go to a film set early in the morning tomorrow but my mind wouldn’t rest until I’d watched this.. it’s so very hard to put into words how I feel about Sly and his determination.. he’s uncompromisingly genuine and for that I’m eternally grateful to see and learn from all of his journeys.. and to borrow from his experiences to help nudge me along my own.
Sly Stallone is and always has been one of my all time favourite actors, ever since my young teenage years. Now in my 50s, this man always gets my attention.
I love how he admits the mistakes he made in editing the first time around and applies the wisdom he’s gained with age. Can’t wait to watch it and see if it’s actually better 🤷♂
I just saw it and was struck by how grainy it looked. Apparently Fathom Events using a low-res streaming process. The opening Rocky III scenes were really grainy, and I was hoping for a sharp contrast to the IV recut. Story-wise, I think the changes were a mixed bag.
I love love love all Rockys and love Sly. But Rocky,4 is special to me. When I was in second grade I got hit by a car and broke my leg and was in the hospital. My grandpa knew that I loved this movie because I always picked it to watch at his house, so he brought me in the VHS and I watched it every day and the doctors and nurses called me Rocky lol

My son and I have been watching the Rocky series, but I only let him watch 1-3 so far and we are going to the theater to see Rocky Vs. Drago next week. I'm really excited to see how it works for him. He's 12 now, and I have never seen him so invested in a movie as he was at the end of Rocky III, he was literally jumping out of his seat and up on the back of the couch. It was amazing. Can't wait. Good parenting Randy! I got introduced to the Rocky series, starting with Rocky 2, when it came out a few months after my 9th birthday. I still hadn't seen the original, but then I saw Rocky 3 when it came out just before MY 12th birthday, and I had a similar reaction to your son's, not to mention it planted the fitness lifestyle seed in my head that I've had for the past 36 years, because when Rocky 4 came out, I REALLY decided to dedicate my life largely to fitness. I thought it was going to suck and, to me, compared to the first three, it kinda did. It was too fake and the message of "rocky saving the world" was . . .yeah. But, here we are, damn near 40 years later, that "rocky saves the world thing" kinda worked? The Wall fell 3-4 years later, we realize that "Soviets" aren't aliens, the Russian and real people, and it's a different damned world.

I’ve broken 31 plus bones , beat cancer, heart surgery, an so many other things before age of 35, im 49 now and just coming off a triple back fusion and 3 back surgeries in one. I’ve walked over 2000 miles back to working out an staying lean am mean. I live Mic’s motto , ( it’s not how many times you get knocked down , but how many times you get back up ) hunted and fished more with my daughters this year than ever. I agree with Stallone’s comment about Talia Shire. Not only has she not been given the credit she deserves in the rocky movies. I don’t think that she’s been given credit as an actor in general. She is a main character in a couple of the most historic movie sagas in history, the rocky movies, and the Godfather movies!
Yeah, check out her performance in their 'wedding night' scene in Rocky 2. She says more with a look than most actresses are capable of doing with heavy dialogue. There's this moment where she looks at him...wondering aloud if their future will be as happy as their current newlywed state...and there's something in her eyes...something sad, and also kind of cynical...as if she's seen enough of life to know how many things can go wrong...and yet, she also projects the happiness of a typical newlywed bride...It's rare that you see a starry-eyed romantic who manages to look that weighed-down by realism...WITHOUT it ever draining any of the romanticism from her...Incredible performance.
I know Stallone will never see this comment, but I want to put it out in the universe. His story really resonated with me, since day one. I was born in poverty, and it wasn't my parents fault. Shit falls where it falls. I went through the group home, foster home system. I've always wanted more. I want a good home for my family. I'm now married, with a son. I've worked hard to where I got, and his story, and even the story of rocky, it helped push me there. I will never be satisfied, my family can always have more. I will always want more for myself, and those around me. This man has made everything off a dream and will.

Can't say im surprised to find you here! I'm interested in this new version as well. This movie as well as the very first one were my absolute favorites and to me had the most power/emotion in them. So curious as to how Stallone really wanted this movie to pan out.
When I saw this movie for the first time back in the 80's at the movie theatre in National City, California on a date with my girlfriend whom is my wife today, it blew me away. It was an emotional movie and yes futuristic in a way from the robot Rocky had from the Lambo I remember the lic plate Sothpaw as he drove in the night when Apollo died hearing the song no easy way out. I even bought the sound track back then and listened to it as I jogged at night. I cried when Apollo died. One of my favorite movies of all time.
Great video. As a Rocky fan and a fan of the film industry, it was very interesting to see Mr. Stallone's work on this director's cut of Rocky 4. Not only to get to know his vision of this film but also his stories from back then and to learn more about his philosophy. Especially to follow his thoughts, how he evaluates his work at that time from today's perspective and what he would change with the knowledge he has today, was very exciting. I like to look behind the scenes from days of shooting, but it's also so exciting to see how a film director works. I can listen to Mr. Stallone for hours without getting bored. In my opinion a talented actor as well as a great director.

I'd rather watch Rocky and the Rambo series over any cgi Marvel stuff. Nothing beats this movie. Nothing beats this fight with Balboa vs Drago. At the time when I was a kid going to see this Historic movie on Christmas day with my family was a moment in time ill never forget.

I’ve seldom been so shocked as I was to watch the director’s cut. For me one the most inspiring and profound lines in any film ever, in the original when Rocky is speaking to his young son says ‘by going one more round when you don’t think you can, that’s what makes all the difference in your life’… and in the revamped version Stallone substitutes it 🤯😱
When Sylvester Stallone made the point about staying true to yourself no matter how many people go against you, this really hit home for a situation I'm going through basically standing up for myself and feeling alone. To have this point also incorporated into the new cut is beautiful. Held off on watching this until after I saw it. A job well done. Of all actors/characters giving much inspiration, I'm happy to see it came from one of my favorites.

It's not like Star Wars where Lucas refused to let fans have the original while he continued to make a series of awful changes over the years. Nor it is some Peter Jackson over indulgent making every movie 5 hours long. It just feels like a fan edit to me, and it was interesting to see how he feels about aspects of the movie now vs then. I honestly didn't like a fair bit of what he changed but it's hardly Space Odyssey to begin with. I just thought it was intriguing.

But whatever your opinion about the movie, itself, my point was more about Stallone and his utter frailty. With those first 4 Rocky films, he created beloved characters who became parts of our national mythos. Nobody ever achieved what he did with those films. And for him to come back and grovel and plead for critics and the public to give him another chance...I have never seen a man of his caliber degrade himself in such fashion. He used to be larger than life. Now, he frantically ASPIRES to smallness...

I went to film school because of movies and guys like Sly. What a treat this was. It's downright criminal this channel only has 30,000 subscribers. Should be a couple million.
Here in Brazil the cinema was crowded with people , people standing , people sitting in the floor and when Rocky finally start to punch Drago. Everybody was claping hands and screaming like in a real fight. That fight was real everytime all day long.
😀This is absolutely awesome to see Sly doing this, and his comments are priceless. I direct too, and I believe in Sly's philosophy that you should be able to get a dialogue scene in 1 to 3 takes (not counting technical mistakes) and not draw it out with 20 or 25 takes. The most important thing, as he said, is to come to the set prepared and don't waste everyone's time by not knowing your lines. I have always been a huge fan.
I absolutely loved Stallone's reflections on life in general. Even if you are born with an old soul, it is still contained within a young "Stallion" body. When an old soul is carried into older age, that's when "Yoda" appears. Sly has definitely fought his way into the Yoda Zone. Six feet of depth is guaranteed, the rest we have to earn.

This is great to watch. Learning a lot from Sly's directing style. Its very clear he knows what he wants and how to get it in his films. It's good to see him as a human being dealing with COVID like everyone else. Its been a tough time for us all.

@@1981jamo exactly. It says 40 minutes of new footage. So scenes have been deleted (the robot), reworked and added. It's the added/changed stuff that's amounting to 40 mins. I'd wager the movie is probably 10-15 minutes longer with probably 25-30 mins of new footage or alternate takes. Some stuff you probably won't notice unless you're an absolute fanatic. You'll get the same scene, line for line, beat for beat. But Sly may choose an alternate take of it.
I coach Olympic Gymnastics for a living and since the 80's my best mentors have been Russians and Americans In 2000 and on I had the luck to interact hundred and hundred of hours with a young Russian coach I interviewed him about everything regarding Russian training and culture His comment about Rocky 4 and Drago: "The funny thing about this film is that REALITY is exactly the opposite!" Meaning Americans having all the money and equipment And Russians not having anything alike Rude awakening for all fans of this movie!

The guy with the camera is filmmaker John Herzfeld who wrote & directed a ton of stuff from the Scott Baio (after school special) classic Stoned in 1980 to 2001's Robert De Niro thriller 15 Minutes. He and Sly are old friends who have known each other for over 50+ years and they have worked together before, but I just can't remember on what film(s) and in what capacity.

And the public was downright hateful and rude. Had Stallone wanted to idealize America, he didn't have to include any of that. After all, he did write and direct this movie. And as for Rocky's believability as an athlete...there actually ARE people who are made of sturdier material than others. Some people's bones are heavier, some people's muscles and tendons are more durable...just a fact of life. Real life boxers like Ali, Frazier, and Holyfield took brutal beatings in the ring. Some football players play for over a decade and absorb incredible punishment...others don't get through one minicamp...For a guy to be as durable as Rocky would be very unusual...but it's not nearly as farfetched as you make it sound.

I truly believe after all these years as an Actor, Director, producer and writer Sly is so underrated, the man is incredible I don't think he has an equal. How he hasn't won more awards is beyond me. A true living legend.
He talks slow and slurred and that droop of his face makes him look stupid. Not flashy, charismatic or energetic.without cinematic enhancement. He is great actor, fine writer with and competent director. Similar style than Clint Eastwood has - matter-of-fact without embellishments or trickery.

When you are your own worst critic, your work ends up being amazing. The way that Sly analyzes these characters, the story, camera angles, and lighting is amazing on so many levels. He is a true genius of his craft. For all the fanfare still very underrated.

Not only is Rocky IV my favorite of the Rocky Saga, but it's truly a perfect film in my opinion. It's a 90 minute film and it feels as if it flies right by in not even 40 minutes. So emotional when Apollo Creed dies. I saw this film in the movies and everyone in the theatre shedded a tear when Apollo died .

Stallone is really treating this director's cut like a chance to really improve the film, make up for mistakes/lost opportunities, etc. and not just cash-in on an anniversary for Rocky IV. You also get a deeper insight to him as an actor, director, person, etc.

what I have always admired about Sly, is that he has NEVER been afraid to admit when he is wrong, or when he has screwed up. and when I hear him talk about his mistake of killing Apollo off and how mad Carl would be.....it just brings me back to how much I now admire this older more wise gentleman.
I just watched all six rocky movies for the first time (they are all free on UA-cam!) and now I’m obsessed. More importantly, being a 90s kid, I learned so much interesting pop cultural information that I never would have known otherwise. For example, I had no idea that Mr. T’s catchphrase, “i pity the fool”, is from rocky 3. I had no idea Mr. T was even in any of the rocky movies. I also didn’t know he was a professional wrestler at one point. By the 90s and 2000s, he was in a lot of commercials saying funny lines, but I had no idea why he was famous, or where those phrases came from. I feel so culturally enlightened now lol. There’s no much that my generation doesn’t know about American pop culture history. This is why I love and appreciate older movies, music and tv shows so much. Thank you, Mr. Stallone! You made a helluva franchise. The ultimate ‘feel good’ movies. 👍🏽

I’m 45 yrs old and had an accident this past August where I tore both my patellar tendons. My recovery has not been easy. In spite of the pain, I always push myself during physical therapy and imagine I’m Rocky in one of those training montage scenes. The first time I walked around my house again I played ‘Eye of the Tiger’. Thanks Mr. Stallone for creating Rocky, one of the most iconic motivational characters of all time.

I am in physical therapy also. I had rotator cuff shoulder surgery and am 2.5 months post op. I am also watching the Rocky movies and listening to the Rocky music to motivate me! I can’t raise my arm yet and I am aiming for Christmas with Eye of the Tiger and especially the main Rocky theme! LOL It really motivates me!!
I've been in Sylester Stallone mode all morning for some reason, and I've never respected the man more than I have today! Watching him go back and explain why he's editing his movie the way he is, is enthralling! Makes me wish I were there with him watching him at work and explain why he's doing what he's doing - what he thought then vs. what he thinks now. It's all in life's experiences and the "growing up" that he's done since this movie was made. COMPLETELY FASCINATING!!!

One thing that comes across very clear in the final cut, was that humanity in Drago.
His reaction to the lights, music, dancers, etc as he enters the ring shows a childlike wonder, as if this is the first time he’s ever seen something fun. This of course quickly transitions to rage as he realizes it’s at the expense of himself.
We see it again when he’s asked about his steroid use, his wife answering for him while he looks around in shame and guilt.
Everyone speaks and makes his choices for him, so when he finally fights Rocky, and sees the true passion and resolve this man has with no steroids or machine powering him, and isn’t here to make a joke of Drago.
Drago earns a respect for Rocky over the course of the fight, Drago finding his own passion in what he does as a fighter, not as a political symbol.
It’s here where Drago is able to break free from the leash of his superiors, and fight back, throwing his manager into the crowd.
The look of terror on his manager’s face as he realizes this mule is sentient and free thinking is enough to show the years oppression Drago has gone through.

I just saw it and was struck by how grainy it looked. Apparently Fathom Events using a low-res streaming process. The opening Rocky III scenes were really grainy, and I was hoping for a sharp contrast to the IV recut. Story-wise, I think the changes were a mixed bag.
It was great. Really enjoyed the added character development.
I love love love all Rockys and love Sly. But Rocky,4 is special to me. When I was in second grade I got hit by a car and broke my leg and was in the hospital. My grandpa knew that I loved this movie because I always picked it to watch at his house, so he brought me in the VHS and I watched it every day and the doctors and nurses called me Rocky lol

My son and I have been watching the Rocky series, but I only let him watch 1-3 so far and we are going to the theater to see Rocky Vs. Drago next week. I'm really excited to see how it works for him. He's 12 now, and I have never seen him so invested in a movie as he was at the end of Rocky III, he was literally jumping out of his seat and up on the back of the couch. It was amazing. Can't wait. I still hadn't seen the original, but then I saw Rocky 3 when it came out just before MY 12th birthday, and I had a similar reaction to your son's, not to mention it planted the fitness lifestyle seed in my head that I've had for the past 36 years, because when Rocky 4 came out, I REALLY decided to dedicate my life largely to fitness. I thought it was going to suck and, to me, compared to the first three, it kinda did. It was too fake and the message of "rocky saving the world" was . . .yeah. But, here we are, damn near 40 years later, that "rocky saves the world thing" kinda worked? The Wall fell 3-4 years later, we realize that "Soviets" aren't aliens, the Russian and real people, and it's a different damned world.
I didn`t think I`d spend the time to watch this whole video. But Watching Mr. Stallone work and just be so cool was worth it.

Yeah, check out her performance in their 'wedding night' scene in Rocky 2. She says more with a look than most actresses are capable of doing with heavy dialogue. There's this moment where she looks at him...wondering aloud if their future will be as happy as their current newlywed state...and there's something in her eyes...something sad, and also kind of cynical...as if she's seen enough of life to know how many things can go wrong...and yet, she also projects the happiness of a typical newlywed bride...It's rare that you see a starry-eyed romantic who manages to look that weighed-down by realism...WITHOUT it ever draining any of the romanticism from her...Incredible performance.
I liked her more in Rocky, though.

I know Stallone will never see this comment, but I want to put it out in the universe. His story really resonated with me, since day one. I was born in poverty, and it wasn't my parents fault. Shit falls where it falls. I went through the group home, foster home system. I've always wanted more. I want a good home for my family. I'm now married, with a son. I've worked hard to where I got, and his story, and even the story of rocky, it helped push me there. I will never be satisfied, my family can always have more. I will always want more for myself, and those around me. This man has made everything off a dream and will.

When I saw this movie for the first time back in the 80's at the movie theatre in National City, California on a date with my girlfriend whom is my wife today, it blew me away. It was an emotional movie and yes futuristic in a way from the robot Rocky had from the Lambo I remember the lic plate Sothpaw as he drove in the night when Apollo died hearing the song no easy way out. I even bought the sound track back then and listened to it as I jogged at night. I cried when Apollo died. One of my favorite movies of all time.
Great video. As a Rocky fan and a fan of the film industry, it was very interesting to see Mr. Stallone's work on this director's cut of Rocky 4. Not only to get to know his vision of this film but also his stories from back then and to learn more about his philosophy. Especially to follow his thoughts, how he evaluates his work at that time from today's perspective and what he would change with the knowledge he has today, was very exciting. I like to look behind the scenes from days of shooting, but it's also so exciting to see how a film director works. I can listen to Mr. Stallone for hours without getting bored. In my opinion a talented actor as well as a great director.

I'd rather watch Rocky and the Rambo series over any cgi Marvel stuff. Nothing beats this movie. Nothing beats this fight with Balboa vs Drago. At the time when I was a kid going to see this Historic movie on Christmas day with my family was a moment in time ill never forget.

I’ve seldom been so shocked as I was to watch the director’s cut. For me one the most inspiring and profound lines in any film ever, in the original when Rocky is speaking to his young son says ‘by going one more round when you don’t think you can, that’s what makes all the difference in your life’… and in the revamped version Stallone substitutes it 🤯😱

When Sylvester Stallone made the point about staying true to yourself no matter how many people go against you, this really hit home for a situation I'm going through basically standing up for myself and feeling alone. To have this point also incorporated into the new cut is beautiful. Held off on watching this until after I saw it. A job well done. Of all actors/characters giving much inspiration, I'm happy to see it came from one of my favorites.
The training montage alone is a masterpiece,and this movie is the GREATEST drama masterclass on film medium made for all mankind💪💪💪🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 the ups and downs of Rocky✊✊✊✊✊

I like how comfortable he is with liking his own art. I bet he could watch a Rocky marathon and get lost in it just as much as any audience member. There's no faux modesty, he knows Rocky is the shit.

@@tgriffin3059 I don't think I'd take it quite that serious. It's not like Star Wars where Lucas refused to let fans have the original while he continued to make a series of awful changes over the years. Nor it is some Peter Jackson over indulgent making every movie 5 hours long.
It just feels like a fan edit to me, and it was interesting to see how he feels about aspects of the movie now vs then. I honestly didn't like a fair bit of what he changed but it's hardly Space Odyssey to begin with.
I just thought it was intriguing.
@@ymb9shinzou743 Oh, I can assure you, I am DEADLY serious about it. Rocky 4 is among my all-time favorite films. But whatever your opinion about the movie, itself, my point was more about Stallone and his utter frailty. With those first 4 Rocky films, he created beloved characters who became parts of our national mythos. Nobody ever achieved what he did with those films. And for him to come back and grovel and plead for critics and the public to give him another chance...I have never seen a man of his caliber degrade himself in such fashion. He used to be larger than life. Now, he frantically ASPIRES to smallness...

Wow, what an incredible 93 minutes for die hard fans of Rocky IV. I loved every second. I wish it had been 5 hours long.
The fact that this man is in his 70s and is able to walk so freely the way he does with ease is wonderful

people sitting in the floor and when Rocky finally start to punch Drago.
Everybody was claping hands and screaming like in a real fight.
That fight was real everytime all day long.

😀This is absolutely awesome to see Sly doing this, and his comments are priceless. I direct too, and I believe in Sly's philosophy that you should be able to get a dialogue scene in 1 to 3 takes (not counting technical mistakes) and not draw it out with 20 or 25 takes. The most important thing, as he said, is to come to the set prepared and don't waste everyone's time by not knowing your lines. I have always been a huge fan.
I absolutely loved Stallone's reflections on life in general. Even if you are born with an old soul, it is still contained within a young "Stallion" body. When an old soul is carried into older age, that's when "Yoda" appears. Sly has definitely fought his way into the Yoda Zone. Six feet of depth is guaranteed, the rest we have to earn.
Always when Stallone speaking you feel that he is polite guy and good heart ❤️ we are lucky to have him in our childhood life and all past years 🙏🏼 we proud of your work Stallone 👏🏼

I enjoyed it very much. I saw the original as a junior the night before my football team played in the state semifinals. We lost, but Rocky 4 always has held a special place in my heart. Looking forward to the recut. Thank you for the behind the scenes look!
This is great to watch. Learning a lot from Sly's directing style. Its very clear he knows what he wants and how to get it in his films. It's good to see him as a human being dealing with COVID like everyone else. Its been a tough time for us all.
I really enjoyed the insight into Sly the human vs the character on screen. It’s great to see a rare glimpse even down to someone just enjoying a film in his home.
My favorite movie of all time and now I'll not only get to see it in theaters, but it's 40 minutes longer too. Christmas is coming early this year. Thank you, Sly. You're the greatest.

@@1981jamo exactly. It says 40 minutes of new footage. So scenes have been deleted (the robot), reworked and added. It's the added/changed stuff that's amounting to 40 mins. I'd wager the movie is probably 10-15 minutes longer with probably 25-30 mins of new footage or alternate takes. Some stuff you probably won't notice unless you're an absolute fanatic. You'll get the same scene, line for line, beat for beat. But Sly may choose an alternate take of it.
Unfortunately it's only 94 minutes. I was hoping for a 2hr movie but the official release details confirm 94 minutes.

I interviewed him about everything regarding Russian training and culture
His comment about Rocky 4 and Drago:
"The funny thing about this film is that REALITY is exactly the opposite!"
Meaning
Americans having all the money and equipment
And Russians not having anything alike

Every bit of that was awesome, Sylvester Stallone is such a gripping guy, all his wisdom and views, I could have watched another few hours of footage 😂.

The story in the breakdown of Drago's sick fade is a beautiful one itself.
The guy with the camera is filmmaker John Herzfeld who wrote & directed a ton of stuff from the Scott Baio (after school special) classic Stoned in 1980 to 2001's Robert De Niro thriller 15 Minutes. He and Sly are old friends who have known each other for over 50+ years and they have worked together before, but I just can't remember on what film(s) and in what capacity.
