    Computer world by kraftwerk inspired this one I think.

      Thanks for checking this out! It definitely started with a single fully-analog drum loop (JoMox Alpha Base) which is a fairly Kraftwerkian approach, but the final track has certainly gone a different direction. Check back as I plan to release it a little later this year!

      I moved to guitar from piano by borrowing guitars - and since I'm super left-handed and my friends/relatives are all right-handed, I learned upside-down. Hendrix had the good sense to restring his guitar, which I couldn't do because they weren't my guitars, and I didn't yet know how...😆

      @@TannerCundya left handed guitar strung right handed would be a cool move. Doyle Bramhall II does this 😊

      @@NewHopeAudio Absolutely, and would probably make a lot more sense for pinky volume swells and other cool moves 😁
      Side note, Bramhall is a super tasty player. Great tones and choices.

    Love the mood. Do you think there are free software to create backing tracks in that style?

    • @TannerCundy
      @TannerCundy  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for checking this out! Absolutely, there's an increasingly wide selection of free (or very inexpensive) synths/effects/DAWs. If I was starting from zero budget, I'd pick up Reaper for a DAW if you don't already have one - I think it's worth the $60 if you can swing it, so that you aren't limited by tracks or features as you're composing. Ableton Live Lite and Garageband are other options too, with some great built-in free softsynths, and give you an idea of what full Ableton or Logic Pro (my current primary DAW) would feel like if you wanted to get into one of those products.
      On the softsynth side, I lean into Native Instruments stuff quite a bit and they have a free pack (synths AND effects) - Komplete Start - that's definitely worth grabbing. Most of my backing tracks here (Prophet, Moog) are subtractive synths - Helm and Vital from Matt Tytel and the Tyrell N6 are mentioned as solid additional freeware options to cover that segment. The drums are from the Alpha Base using a house-type kit with some 808 layering, which you can grab free samples of from a number of sources and load them into your DAW's sequencer to replicate almost exactly what the Alpha does. Slate's free version of SSD5 might let you do exactly that but I haven't personally used it, so I'm not sure (I use Battery for most of my in-DAW drum sequences).
      Finally, effects...my favorite category. Perhaps the most useful idea I have here is to sign up for email lists from the major effects (and softsynth) companies - iZotope, Native Instruments, Arturia, Soundtoys, etc. They'll periodically release new plugins for free before putting them up for sale and I've built a library over time of totally free plugs that I use constantly. Among them are ValhallaDSP's three free plugins (easily some of the best-sounding plugs, paid or not, out there) - Supermassive is HUGE, deeply powerful, and I use it on this track.
      Hope this helps, and feel free to throw any more specific questions back here and I'll see what I can do!
