Found this song on Spotify. I am a child of abuse. A ex of abuse. I promise my kids to give them all these rights. I do not want them to know the pain I had to face. They are such beautiful souls.
Hammering home a point that too many people don't understand. We all had and have those rights, even if we weren't given them, even if they were not respected.
I took my mother to see Nightwish with Delain and Sonata Arctica. She had her doubts about going, but I kept telling her, "These bands are really good! You'll have a good time." Delain was very good, but Sonata Arctica was amazing. My mom fell in love that day. I hope to see them all again soon :)
This is a great Power Metal ballade, an ode to children and their rights and the duty of parents towards them, something that is not touched enough by music composers, Being a father of 3 and a Power metal lover, I want to thank you for bringing this song to the world.
My dad was abused everyday. There was alcohol problem too. My dad said that he decided that when he has children he wouldn't ever abuse them. He had the courage to end the cycle. And i'm so gratefull of my dad. He's given me and my Sister much love and support that we needed growing up. And he is still so important to me❤❤❤
To me, the true killer part is actually the spoken part: "I have a special right to grow up and to develop physically and spiritually in a healthy and normal way; free, and with dignity. I have the right to love and understanding. My parents have special responsibilities for my education and guidance . I should be taught peace , understanding, tolerance, and friendship among all people." Let that sink in and think about it. This is on point what a child should have in his life, and it could totally be some basic moral code parents have to follow.
I'm the product of an abusive family. I promise you, my friends, my family, the world, myself and most importantly, my future kin that I will never allow what I experienced to be a norm in their life or lives. Not necessarily the type of metal I would normally listen to, but if this song helps some kid out there, I am damn happy.
This song is also helping some adults out there who never got help when they were kids. And there aren't enough such resources out there, form my experience.
1:20 "Give me the eyes so I see, Give me ears so I hear, Give me love so I know what love is" That's actually really touching. I love how Tony sings the song. It's really repetitive which reminds me of the naiveté of an innocent young child who wants something badly and can't understand why it shouldn't get it.
When I was a kid, I don't recall to have good childhood. Everyday in school everyone said bad things to me and force me to give them my money. Meanwhile in home, my parents fight all the time, to the point the glass and the tableware are broken, and everyday I must hear my parents said they will separate. My feelings are second, or third to them. When I said that I don't like in that school because I was bullied, my parents yelled at me, they said that's because I'm weak and I have to be strong. But my 8 years old me didn't know how to be strong, so I learn to bottle my feelings up and not tell my parents how the abuse I get in school. The talkative me suddenly being silent. This song is a good example how we should treat kids. They have feelings too, and they are not their parents. They have the right to be heard.
There are issues between my father and I. He hates me and told my mom that I'm not his son. Grown me DO cry about some things. This song is really powerful and soothing, in my opinion. Great song.
+Mick D If it doesn't feel like that affects you. You'd be surprised how much it actually does without you knowing it. Now when I'm older, I can recognize lot of bad stuff deriving from my parents' divorce when I was very young. Not exactly the same, but I think you get the point :D
@Mick, my father had the same issue with his father when he was younger. I am sorry you have experienced that pain. I hope you'll be able to find a way to deal with it.
Me and my father always hated each other. When I was a kid I thought some day I would kill him. I was 19 when he pulled a shotgun at me and I dealt with him. He left in an ambulance. It was hard for me for a while, but from that day on we were cool. He did not run his mouth or threat me anymore. I think this song is typical pussified song for the pussified age. No rights should be given. Dogs are given things. Men take what is theirs. That said, I don't hate my son. I love him.
Give me the right to be heard To be seen, to be loved, to be free To be everything I need, to be me To be safe, to believe In something I have a right to be heard To be seen, to be loved, to be free To be everything I need, to be me To be safe, to believe In something Father, there's a little flower, beautiful and different All alone, all alone Is it so, dad, I'm not supposed to make the world anew? Seriously, i love this song. Sonacta Arctica makes so good music. And don't matter how they change theyr style. Every album has a particular style of songs.
This video reminds my childhood, when I draw too.. my pain and fear through the papers and throw them away before anyone could see...so many times I wanted to say; "Give me the right to be heard, to be seen, to be loved, to believed..." Hugs for everyone who had the same, you´re not alone
to everybody who finds this song I would love to give you a hug Because you are special to this beautiful world, if you understood believe it or not but this planet would be a better place if they loved you
I work with neglected and sexually abused children...they all were told they had no rights...this song could be their anthem, as you can feel all the anger and sadness they feel. I am finding peace in it, though....realizing that this "implanted thought" is reversible.
For someone who has grown up constantly bullied, and who has struggled in their family, struggled to feel accepted and loved (even when you are accepted and loved, it is just impossible to tell), this song also means a lot to me.
+reNINTENDO I hated these guys before I saw them with Nightwish... Man, recordings just don't do these guys justice. Fucking amazing performance. The raw emotion in this song especially was intense.
+AerisAngeles Yeah I cringed at the thought of seeing them live because their albums just didn't really convince me. I also saw them live for the first time with Nightwish a couple days ago. They're pretty good live, I was impressed.
I couldn't sing until I discovered Sonata Arctica. Fullmoon, Paid in Full, I Have a Right.. Must have sung these in the car a hundred times each. Suddenly I realized I really can carry a tune, I just needed some music like this to inspire me.
Heard this song for the first time at the concert on Saturday in San Antonio. When I first listened to Sonata Arctica on youtube when I bought the tickets I wasn't a fan. This song did it for me. It's so powerful. I don't know why, but it hits me right it in heart. I can't stop listening to it. Listening to it empowers me to be a better parent.
There's just no word for this: this band is just awesome, live or not. They inspired me to become a musician and singer and I'm glad they did. They played this song at their live yesterday and it just reached everyone. Seriously, if you ever get the chance, go see these guys live and encourage them cause you can tell they love their fans back.
Some people always said "they are boring because every song sounds the same", and when they changes their style, they comment like "meh, they are not the same anymore". Just enjoy the fucking awesome music from Sonata Arctica.
I have the right to love the fact that people are commenting in spanish, french, english, swedish, danish and now på norsk :) it just means that SA is growing bigger than ever. And they deserve it so much! greetings from Norway :)
It's great to be Finn. I am very close to 60 years old fart, however I love music like this. I recall band called Slade, Sweet, etc. in my youth back in 70th's. In that time that was all, now we've more choices to listen. I am very proud of bands like Sonata Arctica, Verjnuarmu, Kilpi, etc.
This song should be soundtrack of campaigns against child abuse. The guys in Sonata show again their music talents and poetic lyrics. I've loved this band since I was 11, and they're still one of my favs. This song is special. I think the lyrics are the most important part. They tell that a child should never face violence or drug addicition. That parents MUST take their responsibility for a safe childhood. For some people here it doesn't seem that obvious, so that's why I'm stating it. ;)
That's like saying to a girl: "I still love you, I just hate the person you are now that you've changed." You dont' love the band, just their old stuff. If you loved them you would support that they're trying out something new. Bands can't stay the same forever.
I don't care how "metal" is a song... I don't need a metric system to evaluate a song! All I want from metal music is to speak directly to my heart and "I have a right" accomplished that with flying colors! Spread the message of the song instead of arguing about how "metal" it is...
I heard these guys back in 05 and couldn't stand them. Saw them live with Nightwish two days ago, and holy shit, recordings seriously don't do them justice. Amazing amazing band, see them live if you can.
+Laura Bailey Agree completely. The recordings are nice, but oh my god, I had never heard of them before seeing them in alabama with Nightwish, and damn did they put on a good show. I was blown away. Far better than the album versions.
I´m thinking just the same. Zero-tolerance against all kinds of violence especially in schools or any place about children. They have right to grow up in safe and love.
This is one of the few songs that bring me to tears. Such a powerful messages beautifuly delivered. We all human beings have that right. We need to assert it to ourselves, and respect it to others.
Love the melody! And in regards to the "message", children NEED control. To be told what to do, where to go, how to spend time and what people to interact with. Any other way - you get a child that strays away from it's intended path of success towards the unknown.
overmind06 The message was more directed towards child abuse. So control wasn't necessarily in question, but more of the character of the parent that is in control such that the child will grow up confident, gradually self-controlled and independent.
Sonata Arctica is and will always be one of the best Finnish bands for many things: his music is unique, have never lost the sense, still feels the darkness and the mystery in his songs, reinvent themselves with each album, adapt to changes always give a little for everyone, grow with their music and their audience which makes them a professional band with maybe some of the world's best in their instrument and their voices ... well ... who does not accept this, not accept evolution ...
I'm autistic, and learned that to be true in my adulthood. However, I regularly work with children with a variety of extraordinary needs, and I share this with the parents of each child after a period of familiarization. I have always recalled something that my grandfather told me, and it speaks deeply to the heart of this song: The credo of a child survivor is "Don't Talk, Don't Trust, and Don't Feel." I go out of my way to teach the children I work with their own way of doing all three, because my mind is something that I had to learn to fight to have the confidence to do all and more.
Just heard this song for the first time at the Rock Fest in Barcelona yesterday and I fell in love with this song. Very emotive and I love their passion :)))
Oh, I fucking love this band. Every single son is so very unique, with its own important message to it, but they still all have the recognizable Sonata Arctica thing to them that would make me recognize them any time. No other band sounds like this one, seriously. It's amazing. I wish more people knew about this band.
Out of all the songs I've listened to, this song is the best one that I've heard so far, because it talks about what should and could be vs. reminding me of what I've already gone through and would just as soon get past.
Love this. Sonata Arctica have always inspired me, and I'm proud to have had them as a part of my life. Their songs hit home, and they inspired me to make my own music-something I'm sure I wouldn't have pursued had it not been for them. I love the way they've changed over the years-they never give us the same thing but it always comes out great. Kudos SA, this is amazing!
+bruno pagnani Es verdad, muchas bandas en concierto usan dos guitarras, y para canciones sencillas! Estos solo una guitarra en concierto (al menos al quie fui) y tremendo!
Some people just don't understand the power that music holds. Music can really tell a story and can really speak in a universal language that everyone can understand.
I know man, i was just using the lyrics of the song to say that we all have "the right to like everything we want" and this world needs more songs with messages like this. greetings from brazil!
completely agree with you!!! it's right that sonata try to change their sound...i totally love the old sonata but I'm loving also the new way!!! true sonata fans stay with their forever!!!
That little boy is cute. I have a right, we ALL have a right. I wish we all can hold hands and just get along. It seems simple but in practice, it's not. I love this song already
Found this song on Spotify. I am a child of abuse. A ex of abuse. I promise my kids to give them all these rights. I do not want them to know the pain I had to face. They are such beautiful souls.
Same xx
same here... ill give them everything i didnt have.
Aww:(
In this clip, it wasn't his father that abuse him.
I'm a (the) single dad and i have a Right to ne there... no own rights.... maybe someday....
This is one of those songs that's 90% chorus, but the chorus is so killer I don't mind.
Liar liiar
It's so damn catchy
Oh yes... but the guitar is killer as well
Absolutely right you are. It starts with chorus, and ends in chorus as well as well :D
Hammering home a point that too many people don't understand. We all had and have those rights, even if we weren't given them, even if they were not respected.

Omg.. It's a far Dream of me to see Nightwish and Sonata Live 😍 How much had The tickets cost for one person? Did you know that yet?🙈
@@Calyn3 Where in what year? I saw them in kansas city in 2016.
@@TheFireSwordGod we saw them in Missoula, Montana in May of 2016. It was a Mother's Day gift, and she had the best time since we saw Pink Floyd :)

You don't like Sonata Arctica??? :O :O :O I thought there wasn't a single soul in the world that didn't like them.
This song is also helping some adults out there who never got help when they were kids. And there aren't enough such resources out there, form my experience.
The song is more and more relevant every year.
Wonderful lyrics, music and music video.
Thanks!
Cool username, I love that movie. All of Studio Ghiblis movies actually.
*looks at the news* ... yep, very much so.
I think it would be relevant everytime, its the type of song you listen to at a campfire with your son. Its so fucking deep
This is shit is garbage is not near to the real sonata arctica from 99. This band turn into gay crap

So tried and true, 'cause I'm not you!
I have a right to be heard
To be seen, to be loved, to be free

Develop physical and spiritually in healthy
And normal way, free and with dignity
I have the right to love and understanding
My parents have special responsibilities

Jsem vděčná za to, že slyším! Absence tohoto vjemu by mě ochudila o požitek z poslechu tohoto nádherného hlasu a kompozice celé skladby.
I don't care how "metal" is a song... I don't need a metric system to evaluate a song! All I want from metal music is to speak directly to my heart and "I have a right" accomplished that with flying colors! Spread the message of the song instead of arguing about how "metal" it is...
Hoje acordei com esse refrão em mente, cantarolando pra todo lado kk Totalmente aleatório. Há tempos que não ouvia.
Super utwór i ten wokal 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I heard these guys back in 05 and couldn't stand them. Saw them live with Nightwish two days ago, and holy shit, recordings seriously don't do them justice. Amazing amazing band, see them live if you can.
+Laura Bailey Agree completely. The recordings are nice, but oh my god, I had never heard of them before seeing them in alabama with Nightwish, and damn did they put on a good show. I was blown away. Far better than the album versions.
This is one of the best Sonata Arctica song to me
"Give me love, so I know what love is"💓💓💓💓
This was incredibly powerful and moving, and spoke to me deeply. How could anyone thumbs-down this song???
I´m thinking just the same. Zero-tolerance against all kinds of violence especially in schools or any place about children. They have right to grow up in safe and love.
Arctica hit the bullseye with this one. Just can’t get enough of this track
Nobody else rocks out feeling songs quite the same....you guys hit a good level of metal. Rare n goood🤘
This is one of the few songs that bring me to tears. Such a powerful messages beautifuly delivered.
We all human beings have that right. We need to assert it to ourselves, and respect it to others.
Just saw these guys in San Jose last night and looked this song up the moment I got home
-Bravo-
+tonedeftony I saw them in Anaheim last night and did the exact same thing when I got home
This song deserve 100M views 🔥
That vocal flow. So addicting. Amazing track.
Sonata the BEST of power !!!! Looking forward to see you in Bolivia!!!!!! LOVE YOU!!!!
Doesn't matter your background or where you live--this song is relevant everywhere. Especially in America.
Saw them perform this live last night. Such a great song
I love, I love, I love this song...
Never let this song die!
I'm autistic, and learned that to be true in my adulthood. However, I regularly work with children with a variety of extraordinary needs, and I share this with the parents of each child after a period of familiarization. I have always recalled something that my grandfather told me, and it speaks deeply to the heart of this song: The credo of a child survivor is "Don't Talk, Don't Trust, and Don't Feel."
I go out of my way to teach the children I work with their own way of doing all three, because my mind is something that I had to learn to fight to have the confidence to do all and more.
mais que uma música! um hino!
Just heard this song for the first time at the Rock Fest in Barcelona yesterday and I fell in love with this song. Very emotive and I love their passion :)))
The flow of the lyrics is awesome!
these guys have been my Favorites for a long time"
this changes nothing
that makes me cry.. :'(
so beautifull song
I know right
Oh, I fucking love this band. Every single son is so very unique, with its own important message to it, but they still all have the recognizable Sonata Arctica thing to them that would make me recognize them any time. No other band sounds like this one, seriously. It's amazing. I wish more people knew about this band.
REALLY EXCELLENT!!! LOVE THIS SONG!! ONE OF THE BEST NEW SONGS OF SONATAAAA!! PERFECT!!
I never had heard this one before, I first heard it on the Rio de Janeiro / Brazil Show 17-03-14... PERFECT!
I meant to say that the first time I heard it I thought it was perfect... LOL

+Raven Darnell Well last night I mean in Anaheim, Ca
Thank you for all those years you were in the band Marko!!!! You will be missed.
I love thaht song! We have the right!
Out of all the songs I've listened to, this song is the best one that I've heard so far, because it talks about what should and could be vs. reminding me of what I've already gone through and would just as soon get past.
Am I the only person who thinks that this song should used to advertise children rights'? 🤔
It is now at least in my school
Metal is evil.. so no 😢
@@RJ-V1C4R10U5Why is metal evil?
@@RJ-V1C4R10U5 try listening to metal bands singing about beautiful things. Ghost for example.
It was! It was sold and the profits were given to UNICEF if I remember correctly
Another great song!!
I love this song and I love Sonata Arctica. You guys are brilliant and speak to my soul. Beautiful and magical.
This is so...but so meaning true. Thank's given to you!
I do not know what happens in Finland but the music is great as this group
Every album is different from the other. It's not about music genres or metal categories. That's why I FUCKING LOVE SONATA ARCTICA.
ME ENCANTA! :)
Sonata Arctica, Thank you very much for that AWESOME SONG!
Not really my music, but big thank you for saving my sons from Robin and Cheek, this song is their favorite now :)

Toivottavasti on vitsi xd
This music is the best of the album, my opinion but, SONATA STILL RULES!!!

Some people just don't understand the power that music holds. Music can really tell a story and can really speak in a universal language that everyone can understand.
this is the best song of the world
absolutely. and Sonata Arctica, one of the best bands in the world. ❤
This is a great track- highlighting the rights of children all over the world - United Nations Act- thank you, for bringing this this our attention.
You have the right to remain silent

Just kiddin' :P
I know man, i was just using the lyrics of the song to say that we all have "the right to like everything we want" and this world needs more songs with messages like this.
greetings from brazil!
I Love Kemi
One of the best calls for rights - and Tony - it is a good move to have Janni's hair color for a while :)
completely agree with you!!! it's right that sonata try to change their sound...i totally love the old sonata but I'm loving also the new way!!! true sonata fans stay with their forever!!!
awesome song!!!
That little boy is cute. I have a right, we ALL have a right. I wish we all can hold hands and just get along. It seems simple but in practice, it's not.
I love this song already
Zayk me trajo a esta canción ;)

Hahahaha a mí también
This shot right to my heart and soul. I have no words. Amazing message.
Don't let the child inside everyone of you to die...
