You know you have played too much Sekiro when you recognize Genichiro's basic pattern even under the guise of an anime girl
I mean, they don't even try to hide it 😂
The last boss is basically a re-skin of the corrupted monk
Cat general ahah
not only genichiro i also saw the patterns of the General miniboss, Emma, Owl, corrupted monk & the red guard (dual katana)
@@BirdWithAKnife345also some moves from the lone shadows
Unless you win via cheese, them patterns are basically engraved into your mind after the first win of the boss fight.

He has become SHURA.
"mind became one" - Isshin Ashina

We have Sekiro at home"

That was literally my thought when watching this too xD
The Sekiro at home:
this time the meme is accurate. Discount budget sekiro.
Nah, this game is too good to be slandered like this. Whoever made the game had a great understanding of how to implement the core mechanics of Sekiro. And the graphics honestly are not too bad either.
Exactly how I pictured the DLC to be

Playing this before Sekiro would probably make all the bosses 80% easier.
Yeah, it's like a Sekiro bootcamp lol. It sets the very basic fundamentals of the game flow of Sekiro unto you if you finish this game.
The bosses flow almost exactly like Sekiro bosses, it’s hilarious
@@grimreefer213 even the final boss is just monk lol
Tell that to game journalists. They'd still find a way to fuck it up

Instantly recognized the Corrupted Monk’s moveset in that last fight. Highly underrated boss in my opinion
Used to despise the monk, now I really enjoy her fight. The flow of the fight is very enjoyable...just long. Still can't stand fighting monkey.
I never understood why people hate the Corrupted Monk, it's one of my favorite fights in the game
Shame people cheese it so much with the pocket sand and firecrackers
@jxnvthvn8 wait, really? I mean, the Corrupted Monk is underrated, but I never seen it due to hatred, it's mostly because Genichiro, Isshin and Owl just outshine her in the community
@@OrangeJuiceJones00i hate her because she isn't an anime girl, glad they didn't make the same mistake in this game
The thrust counter animation goes hard as fuck
TBF, that's the only animation they didn't copy from Sekiro.
@@poleofversatility7074 that's probably because its a lot harder to make animations for stepping on a spear or sword or leg than it is to make one duck under all of them, so the one thing they didn't copy was because they couldn't copy it
@@pickleman47 Especially with such a short character, i'm not surprised they opted for something different.
@@pickleman47 The mikiri animation is actually pretty janky if you look at it too closely. It breaks midway through to position the weapon low enough so that Sekiro can step on it. They do this bc his model is way shorter than everyone else.
Except that it doesnt make any sense at all...ducking under a trust? Sheesh what mad man will do that...ur head might just get sliced or skewed in
No hate on the game btw...i think its A really well made game...look so beautiful and refined
my sekiro addiction is making me correlate the boss movesets
I mean, the first boss is literally Genichiro. The swipe that starts from a bent over stance, the jumping downslash, even the way you can catch him if you keep attacking when he backs away...
Puppet maien doesn't even try to hide its influences with the spin2win move and the swipe into floaty backstep.
@@4nto418 I think that's more the Samurai General's you fight. Genichiro is more the Crimson one.
there are couple attacks that are simmilar to sekiro. me personally i like the last boss since the two swords having to be parried twice is so cool imo
Sekiro, after breaking the curse with dragon’s bath water realizes that he can’t kill random soldiers to get momey anymore and becomes an E girl. But he now has to destroy the competition by killing other streamers
Dragons bath water is crazy

It flows shockingly well for such a clearly budget game. I can tell the creator really understands Sekiro and why it's so good. Looking forward to seeing what they make in the future.
Dude who made this understands Sekiro better than Respawn lmao
@@arnur1237 respawn?
@@epicsomethin1635probably referencing jedi fallen order/survivor (don't remember second games title) which have basic swordplay mechanics that take a good amount of inspiration from sekiros combat, with a heavy focus on parrying to break enemies guards before getting significant damage in (as opposed to the dodge roll all attacks and stab when the enemy isn't attacking gameplay of dark souls). And whilst i do take issue with that take in the sense of Respawn were making a game with lightsabers when they had never made a 3rd person game before, let alone a non shooter, so they couldn't be making a game that played like one with steel swords but also weren't going to be creating a brand new combat system in any way shape or form, i also really respect it because they are one of like 7 people who isn't saying FaLlEn OrDeR iS lIKe DaRk SoUlS because its not a particular easy game and you can dodge roll, and instead recognise it's far closer in combat to Sekiro (albiet nowhere near as goog swordplay wise)
Jedi Fallen Order couldn't have taken too much inspiration from Sekiros combat unless they did A MASSIVE overhaul within 8 months for the games entire combat system, which I highly doubt. I think it's more likely they just made similar combat systems already.@@Santisima_Trinidad
@@arnur1237Well obviously Respawn isn't literally trying to make a carbon copy of Sekiro.

Goes to show how phenomenal Sekiro's sound design is and how much it adds to the weight of the combat.
that and animations. It seems the one who made this game, made kind of "linear" animations. Usually when you try to make lifelike animations, there is acceleration and deceleration, so the animation speed is more alike to a bell curve. This also makes a big difference imo.
@@Darkayne666 Yeah, i think God of war 4 & 5 have the most heavy hitting animations, you can feel the power in every swing, i think sekiro could improve the standard combo a little but everything else hits hard.
just wish sekiro had more martial arts moves because those were sick.
Also camera perspective adds to the intensity, close third person like 'the evil within', 'the last of us', dead space, etc is my favourite. there's a mod for sekiro that puts it in close third person and it looks so good but it snaps the camera unfortunately.
@@voltaicburst4279 funny, i was thinking of replaying ragnarök :-D its settled then.
I think sekiros standard animation is fine, tho, katana is more of a finesse weapon. I think it fits, since it also differs when you get blocked or when you deplete the enemies stamina.
I do agree on the martial arts moves.
@@Darkayne666 Yeah it’s definitely good, but an example of more heavy hitting katana swings is orochi from for honor imo. Sekiro is definitely good enough though.
Yeah I might replay it too, the anti-war nonsense before realising they very obviously didn’t have another choice but to fight the tyrannical dictator all along dragged the story right down for me but the gameplay is chef’s kiss.
@@Darkayne666Several people say Wo long, Nioh2,etc etc have more in depth combat than sekiro due to more bosses, build variety..... but sekiro's greatness isn't any of that. The sound design ,animation, the cinematic feel, overall polish plus a beautiful scenery is what makes the combat so good. Also, the overall journey outside combat feels like a journey too, where most soulslike fails miserably.
I appreciate how using the mikiri leaves the enemy with their sword raised too high to defend themselves, it explains why you can get a free hit on them afterwards.
In the game, it looks like the mikiri causes the enemy to stumble/be off balance, thus giving you an opening. But I like to think they're just stunned and thinking something like "motherfucker stepped on my sword? Bullshit!"
Or maybe they're just momentarily in awe of how cool the move is.
@@seeker38it's also got an intimidation factor: this short king just styled on you so hard.
In Sekiro, you stomp pn the sword and that naturally fucks up the enemy's balance- giving an opening to strike. And that opening is likely elongated by the fact that they're thinking "wtf is happening"
The deflection sounds like someone aggressively ringing a bell
Well, it's what you would hear if Sekiro was a cute moe anime. They're not strong enough to make the explosive clash that happens in the orginal Sekiro.

Making a study of sekiro is probably not a bad idea
Imitating masterworks (aka studies) is a very common practice in the teaching of arts so there’s gotta be some merit to it
Honestly, the creative mix of some of the moves is not bad, but what stands out to me the most, is that somehow, the moves seem to be way more clear in terms of seeing them, and the telegraphing might be better too, tbh. Sekiro's graphics and setting had a lot more visual clutter.
@@danielantony1882 it actually feels like a study on combat animations since the less cluttlered and simple graphics let you see more of what is going on
I like how it's not even bad, it just needs more variety in gameplay
And to all the replies saying it copies Sekiro: No shit that's why I said what I said.. It takes Sekiro's core mechanics but didn't expand on it, hence why it lacks variety. But at the end of the day, it's obviously meant to be a parody. They probably just made it for shits and giggles, I doubt they ever planned to continue it anyway.
It’s bad
@@user-pb1yn7ni2enuh uh
@@user-pb1yn7ni2e it's made by 1 guy, for 1 guy to be able to get sekiro''s gameplay down this much is impressive
These are literally just simplified versions of Sekiro bosses. Same animations and everything. Geneichiro, monk, armored warrior, owl. They ain’t slick.
They seem to have copied 1:1 Sekiro's mechanics so it's not that surprising. Although, depending on how different the 2 engines used are, reproducing the system could be impressive.
Nameless Warrior = Genichiro Ashina
Cat General = idk, some isshin i think
Little Demon = ROBERTTTT, and Monk patterns
Guard of Mist = Owl (Father)
Night Fox = Ashina General, weak Isshin and some Monk patterns too
Crimson Shadow = Owl, and Isshin.
Niten Usagi = The red mtf with 2 swords in the Ashina invasion
Puppet Maiden = Corrupted Monk re-skin

Cool project, sweet homage to Sekiro.
An amusing observation: while there's not much lore to why in FromSoft games the protagonist is shorter than many enemies and NPCs, here it's because she's a little rabbit girl.
I can't believe Dark Souls takes place in the the world of One Piece.
Well, wouldn't it be pretty frustrating to be a giant motherfucker and have to slay human sized bosses?
Wait....is that a game idea
Nah wolf is like an average sized man but everyone he fights is like 7ft tall
Its solely because of the camera: with the camera position and angles that From chose for their games if protagonist was the same size as enemies you would not be able to see them properly.

am I crazy or did Sekiro never do this? Im wracking my brains trying to figure out if any of the enemies actually had a sweep-thrust combo like this. Genuinely suprised From didn’t use that. Neat way to add to the mechanics.
Nah , there is not any enemy that does a sweep+thrust combo and you have to choose how to respond .
There's exactly one - the Shinobi hunters with all the thrust attacks you find at the Hirata Estate. They have one sweep attack, and like to immediately follow it with a midair thrust.
theres a monk with a spear and black or white uniform that usually does a sweep and immediately afterwards does a thrust
The Owl Bomb followed by Shadowrush/Shadowfall.
You have to jump the Owl then Mikiri the actual Owl.
Not as familiar because the bomb has no danger kanji, but it's there.
Other moves also is Owl(Father) too especially attack that pushes the Usagi back.
in an alternate world where sekiro never existed, the world wouldve gone crazy over kannagi usagi combat system
ppl blaming on this game are so unreal, it's just a j4f project made by a single developer that really like Sekiro. It's not even cost you anything to play, completely free on Steam, not even those trash free games with bunch of ads on mobile. Btw this game is way too polished for a small project that made by solo dev like that.
Tell me this is what Miyazaki originally envisioned Sekiro to be but the general masses aren't ready for such masterpiece.
Ok I've played about 20 mins and this game is incredible for what it's going for. It shouldn't even be free for what you're getting but I'll take it. Wow it's good

It looks like an inmense amount of work was put into the boss attack animations lol. Obviously some of the movesets are heavily inspired from Sekiro with 11:50 probably being the most obvious but it still looks pretty fun.
Heck even hud straight up similar
I've played it after seeing this and it's a must try. Especially for free
What you mean heavily inspired? They put it for free because they know they're going to get sued if they sell a reskin of Sekiro lol
Their version of Mikiri also looks very satisfying. Definitely will give it a try.
Actually really excellent art style, a nice color palette and fairly high quality textures and models. Better looking than most anime-style games which just over do it with the manga/comic-book look.
Somehow, I can see Wolf smiling upon this Rabbit.
Netin Usagi was honestly an incredibly good boss, actually worthy of being in the base game imo
As much as I love the mikiri counter, this other method really keeps the flow of combat going even more. I'd love to see them both in Sekiro 2.
S-ranked the game myself around last weekend after a day of practicing and stuff, but I could never reach this level of mastery that Ongbal displayed. As usual, the true master is truly magnificent.
I saw in order they are: Owl, General Naomori Kawarada, Headless, O'Rin of the Water, Old Isshin, Genichiro, Interior Ministry Red Guard, Corrupted Monk.
One thing that I think it does better than Sekiro is that when you restart a fight, you don't have any loading screens like in the sekiro gauntlets. Straight to action. I know sekiro can't because of limitations but funny how things go
The Sekiro DLC was in him all along.
It was his guiding moonlight
that fight with Ninten Usagi near the end there was actually really mesmerizing to watch. this game looks amazing, even if it's literally an anime knock-off of sekiro.
and you're telling me it's free? dang it, i need to put this game on the list to try out once i do finally build my PC. this macbook is incredibly capable at doing many kinds of work, or for consumption of media. but i can only ever play minecraft or browser games on this thing.
Honestly, this game's thrust counters look so much cooler than the mikiri
Gotta love that the last boss even ressurects like the True Corrupted Monk wow
"Good artists copy, great artists steal" at its finest.
I actually love this, always happy to see more games like sekiro come out, even if theyre kinda short ans just super similar(aside from art style and story) like this one
Sekiro likes being a thing means we are evolving as a species
Fascinating how the people who thinks its a bad game are the equivlent of complaining about given an free extra ice cream cone for it being also vanilla flavoured like the one it just had throughoutly enjoyed
give this man the sequel he so clearly needs, hes gonna go insane!
I really like 's moveset, mixing different distances/angles with the thrust/sweep moves is a fresh idea
I love that mikiri alternate dodge. This look so cool and make me think "this game not only copy-paste"
Honestly, for a clearly budget game based on Sekiro mechanics, it's surprisingly solid looking. The only thing like to see (which may not even be possible, depending on how the dev made the game), would be for Niten usagi to have a perilous slash and a perilous thrust that looked near identical (like the thrust at 10:34; instead of having the right sword hanging off to the side, it's held closer to the body, prepared to slash) to trip up the player. Kinda like Genichiro's perilous follow up in phase 2 after his jumping downward stab, where he can do a thrust or a slash and your only real visual clue (thanks to the dust he kicks up) is the glint of his sword.
If Genshin Impact and Sekiro had a baby
"Sekiro goes to a isekai world"
Everytime Sekiro dies actually he got isekai-ed first and he must kill all the waifus to be allowed to revive
The mikiri counter equivalent looks awesome.
Is it weird to say that this makes me appreciate Sekiro even more than I thought?
After I S-ranked this game I checked my time and I'm almost a whole minute slower than Ongbal lmao.

Roblox designed anime waifus trying to cut you up like O'rin of the Water is what i needed in life, thank you!

I legit thought this was a mod until I looked in the description.
Damnnnn, what is it with you being good at every game you play.
Seems like it just needed a bit more sound work. A couple sounds for the footsteps, dashes, grunts, and different deflect sounds would make this combat feel so much more alive.
I agree, but you gotta admit that they nailed that Sekiro deflect animation! That's my one complaint in Lies of P, having only one deflect animation doesn't feel as great.
puppet maiden is literally corrupted monk, her moveset is etched deep into my brain for the hundred times attempt to beat her
Believe or not. This Game taught me how to actually should play Sekiro. I was stuck and frustrated in the Roberto battle, the combat of Sekiro just didn't click with me, until I beat this Game, and realized I wasn't being too agressive and straight up with the poise mechanic. this game feels and sounds very meaty. The attacks are impactful, well animated, telegraphed. And it feels satisfying to play. I am also happy a lot of the enemies are made, which means if they expand on this title, it can have an open world.
I'm not a fan of the ranking system, but it works for now given it's like an enemy gauntlet. It also has that weird touhou fangame feel to it where it's silly and knows it's a parody of an existing game.
I really like this, I like that it's free, too. Such a passion project. I wonder if there's anyway to support them.
