Because he was so consistent. He got only 2 DNF’s, the lowest of all of the full time drivers that year. He also finished 26th in points, and that was a career high for him until he bopped it in 2020.
I don't think it was a funding issue, I think Bob Levine shut down operations because he basically had no control over the team once Toyota signed on, Levine probably wanted to keep Matt Dibenedetto but Toyota executives overruled him saying Christopher Bell has to be in the car since LFR was aligned with JGR
Even though it was their last season, I'd give C. Bell a 10 for effort, he tried so damn hard to atleast get them to victory lane atleast once, There's a few times that 95 was bad fast this year like at New Hampshire but then blowing a tire, Texas chase race but then finishing Top 5 (👏👏LFR you won't be forgotten) ✌️✌️
Bob told me on twitter that he could possibly comeback to the sport as a team, i asked if he would come back as a sponsor but he said no only as a team
They were getting better over the last several years.sucks to see another team go.How bout a rise and fall of Chicagoland Speedway since I don't know if its ever coming back and I heard it may be torn down.
That was one of the worst teams in NASCAR history, most of the races were from "Start and Park" and with mediocre drivers like Jhonny Chapman (nationwide), Josh Wise
First Furniture Row Racing, Now Leavine Family Racing, what's next Gaunt brothers racing, Let's go to JGR HQ I bet they have an answer,23XI Racing is certainly not going anywhere anytime soon because MJ has enough money to feed Joe Gibbs for decades to come 🤔🤔
Im pretty saddened by this but i guess im gonna have to move on, each year they have been in the cup series i have liked them, they even produced one of the best crashes in nascar history i think in 2014 at the glen with newman
I thought they were going to be the next Furniture Row, aligning themselves with top teams to become more competitive and putting better and better drivers in their cars, but unfortunately their fate went the same that FRR did.
Poor Leavine they were a decent dare I say good team but they just could never get that win same with Germain in cup when Casey Mears drove it not Ty he had some moments but it's sad when Paul Mernard the definition of meh outshines you.
Crazy thing I noticed in this video, LFR finished 2nd to several JGR cars...and JGR and Toyota might ask them to swap out drivers so anther JGR driver could rise into the top tier. With 2311 coming on next season, I see them finishing 2nd to JGR....if the car climbs that high during the race. If 2311 wins with a JGR car in 2nd, it would be because what the fans and press would be saying about keeping Bubba down as a driver [sorry about the rant]
Is it just me or is there a trend going on with Toyota and gibbs any team that aligns with gibbs shuts down and is absorbed by gibbs . I know 23x1 is Hamlin but seriously they are really Joe gibbs teams. He just found a way around owning more than 4 teams
Great video. It seems like any team that Team has a technical alliance Joe Gibbs racing. Goes out of business quickly. Furniture Row won a championship then before the next season ended Furniture Row announced they were closing forever. There were comments from Team owner Barney Visser about the high cost of winning. The team was losing money because the amount of money Joe Gibbs charged them and TRD engines. Then Toyota goes onto Leavine family racing 2 seasons with Joe Gibbs alliance there out business. If I was starting a team I wouldn't ever go with Toyota Even though they want more cup teams then just 6. TRD supplies the engines for the cars they Leese the engines to the teams. Of course JGR tweaks the engines. Getting back to starting a team myself first thing I would do is get a Technical alliance with Hendrick Motorsports. Look at Stewart-Hass after they left there alliance with Hendrick by switching to Ford. No Championships they won in 2011 And 2014 championships with Stewart and Harvick. Yeah Kevin Harvick had 9 wins but by the end of the 2020 season you could see Ford falling behind and Nascar made a rule change to take away whatever Stewart-Hass was doing with their rear wheel wells
I feel LFR's fall is to do with JGR. How many drivers careers has Joe Gibbs pretty much screwed over in the past few years? Oh yeah, I can name a few Daniel Suarez, replaced by Martin Truex Jr in the 19. Matt Kenseth, replaced by Eric Jones in the 20. Matt D, replaced by Christopher Bell in the 95, which resulted in Matt going to Wood Brothers. And now? Eric Jones, replaced by Christopher Bell in the 20. I call favoritism on the part of JGR.
But is it a conspiracy theroy against LFR? Joe Gibbs Racing already bought out Furniture Row because of the competition now that LFR is gaining traction, JGR takes Christopher Bell from them and now they have to shut down. Another team shuts down because of Joe Gibbs
Bell did win a truck championship with KBM and finished well with JGR in Xfinity every year. So I believe Kyle put in word for JGR to bring Bell in and since he had already been on the team it was a no brainer I think that they should have have dropped to xfinity and be an xfinity team or be part time cup
Fun fact: McDowell completed more laps than any other driver in 2017.
Michael McDowell would be the 2017 champion if the season was ran on the 70s points
Did not know this!
If we still used the 1950s 60s and points format, he would have finished top five in the points standings.
What how?😅
Because he was so consistent. He got only 2 DNF’s, the lowest of all of the full time drivers that year. He also finished 26th in points, and that was a career high for him until he bopped it in 2020.
It's crazy how LFR dies like this, but teams like Rick Ware Racing are still around.

Never knew LFR was once “aligned” with Penske!
