Hey man don’t know if I’ll see another new video but I just want to thank you for making the IMS series, One of the most useful videos I’ve seen on UA-cam for anyone doing this job you help me save thousands of dollars and I made my own tools I am a mechanic myself but this was an awesome series to watch and learn a lot from thanks again
Ben, where have you been...really enjoyed the videos and am now doing clutch, IMS, water pump, starter, sparkplugs, all new mounts, and exhaust. everything is ready to bolt back up. Thanks for the help and confidence boost. Hope you are doing well and pretty sure everyone would like to see updates.
Thanks Neil! You know how it is, always trying new techniques... and good eye. I used a Canon 85mm F1.8 lens which I absolutely LOVE. It's not the most useful for tight spaces, but it looks amazing when you have the room!
Ben so sorry to head about the accident! But thankfully it seems very isolated to just the hood. I'm very excited to see you turn this into an opportunity. I'll be following your adventure with a lot of interest.
And I agree whole-heartedly with Neil. Image and audio quality are a vast improvement. I also though to myself that you've gotten a better lens or different camera, and the external mic is ace!
Thanks! Yes, you (and Neil) are quite right. I've been adding in a new lens. I'm always trying new things. It was definitely painful, but I'm glad the accident was minor, as you said.
Hi Burner mate nice to see you back. So sorry to hear about your car I feel your pain. Good to see you're taking it well and using it as an opportunity to create something new. I take it the bumper and all the fixings in behind are all Ok? Looking forward to seeing what you get up to. Wish you the best of luck. Mick 👍
You're far from an idiot my friend. Accidents happen. I know you will get it straightened out and I look forward to watching how you do it. As far as wraps go, I had orange racing stripes and side banners put on my 40th anniversary. I also had clear wrap put on all leading surfaces and all surface that have a chance of rocks being thrown against the car. clear wrap is like an insurance policy. Good luck!
Best of luck with you latest venture! It's really great how you could turn misfortune into an opportunity; I really wish more people thought this way. I suggest you look for a undamaged hood from a salvaged vehicle to use for the CF mold, instead of trying to correct your damaged one. If the CF hood works out, you can sell the salvaged hood; if not, you have a backup hood for refinishing. As for CF part ideas - gear shift, handbrake lever, and steering wheel. The things you touch the most and get the most wear. If you could make nice parts like these for sale, you might have a new home business ;-)
Bummer. A hood is going to be very difficult. You have to have support in the right places and not to mention making sure where you bolt up hardware to the hood has to be very strong so that the hardware doesn't come loose. The main reason you see hood latches/pins on the outside of carbon fiber hoods, just in case to hardware comes loose, the hood doesn't go flying off the car. Good luck.
Yeah. I've been doing quite a bit of studying and figuring. I absolutely do not want hood pins, so I've got to get the hardware and reinforcement right, as you said. I might even make a few small pieces and break them... you never know how strong something is until you break it!
Its funny that we had the same idea, I bought an 986 with a busted bumper and currently "trying" to install an aftermarket bumper and then vinyl wrapping it. Let me know how your vinyl wrapping project goes. I love wrapping and have done several projects, its all about the product. I just purchased Vvivid vinyl for my Porsche a couple days ago and I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. Would love to see an update soon!
I'm really looking forward to seeing the results of these mods. Specifically the wrapping. Mine's a 2000 Boxster S (black), but I think it'd be better off with a wrap. I'd really like to watch the vinyl samples since my Porsche is almost identical to yours.
Hi, don't leave us hanging...Consider making a video to keep us up-to-date with what is happening. Anyway, any ideas how to remove a stuck Spark Plug from a Boxster? Thanks and look forward to your next video.
OMG!!! Did you really take a circular saw to the front? Sh#t happens and I'm so sorry what happened to your Boxster. The next episodes should be very interesting and looking forward to your new challenge. I know that making your own carbon fiber might be very difficult since it requires an autoclave and other fancy high tech machines but if that does not work out, you can get good quality carbon fiber hoods for the Boxster online. Best of luck...
Any dash-cam video? These things can be either shame or blame ;-) After some near misses caused by crazy/distracted drivers, both my wife and I always drive with dash-cams.
eBay is horrible for used Porsche parts btw or at least my experience, try DC automotive or la dismantlers. If you call them I think might be able to get better prices. if you are patient and don't mind spending a ton of time with sticky messes and the dust it can be a lot of fun :-)
Haha! Sticky messes and dust... pretty accurate description of my future. It's moments like this that I wish I were still in LA as there are many more auto dismantlers and Porsches. As it stands, the freight on a hood is pretty steep!
I’ve been using your videos to keep my 03 boxster going since I got the thing in Nov 19’. Come back bro!!!

Ben is back! Yay! Image quality on some of the shots is great - new lens? Glad to see an exciting new project in the works! Keep 'em coming!
PS, great intro montage and music!

Everything looks better at F1.8! I've a 50mm F1.8 I shoot my vlogs on. How'd the accident happen?
the mystery of this guy leaving has me wondering but at least he has all his helpful vids still up. hope hes ok :)
Where did you go? Did you give up on The Boxster? Your vids have been incredibly helpful. I hope you are well.
Hey Ben, how's things? It's been a while so just wanted to know how things are going with the repair? Any idea when the next video might be out?
Thank you for your library of videos. Hope there’s more.

I was crying tears as big as light bulbs at the beginning of this video but breathed a huge sigh of relief at 4:46...good luck with the project!
Thanks! Not going to lie, I was depressed for days. I definitely feel better now that I have a plan and a goal!

I am proud to be a new member of this channel. Ben, you are a Porsche's artist!
I am feeling your pain. Best of luck on the project. Looking forward to updates.
Thanks, Rob! It definitely hurt, but I'm feeling better now that I have a plan
Please come back! I really enjoy your videos!
Hope you are OK!! Love the way you think outside the Boxster...
Love your series Ben, and its been a huge help when it comes to working on my own car, a 987s Cheers and keep up the good work!
👍
Hey man can't wait to see your carbon fibre adventure. Hope all is well.

Hey, where have you been? Your videos are very entertaining and I like your delivery style. Hope everything is okay with you and yours.

Great ideas! I'm sure I'm not the only one who hates all those plastic interior bits on the 986/996!
congratulations on new baby... keep us posted..
Hope you are ok

Yeah, with 17 years worth of rock chips and scratches, it's time to do something...
Hi, don't leave us hanging...Consider making a video to keep us up-to-date with what is happening. Anyway, any ideas how to remove a stuck Spark Plug from a Boxster? Thanks and look forward to your next video.
Just take your time and don't force it, a little turn at a time with a little heat and lots of lubricate. Takes time and be patient...
Dude sorry about your Boxster, wish I can help you, you sure have educated me, thanks good luck
Hi Ben haven’t seen any new videos have you given up?
Hope your doing ok. Any updates or progress.
Ben, are you ever going to make another video?
What happened to burners cars? Burned out?
What happened to you buddy? Long time no content. Hope things are well for you!
You good? Looking forward to more videos.
Ben where are you?... Missing your interesting videos...

Yeah, that whole montage was incredibly frustrating. There were a couple times where I nearly gave up and cut the damn hood in half!
If I could fabricate in carbon fibre? I'd make a friend.
HOWS THE CARBON FIBER HOOD PROJECT?
Make a rear lip for your trunk and possibly a diffuser for a more aggressive look
Great thought, I've seen a few that look pretty sharp.
Hi Burner, two years since your last video, when is the next video, what are you up to.
Ben? thnx for your vids, hope you are okay,
Go for it. In Australia we say Onya. 😀
YES! 👍 Onya. I love it. I don't think I've heard that before.
I think Ben sold the remains of the Boxster and bought something else....🤔
I'm still looking for the part number, for the aftermarket IMS bearing, that you used on your Boxster, Thanks.
Hi burner, are you making a full carbon fiber car? its been a year now since you last uploaded, keep us updated please!
Good Luck to you Burner
Thank you, sir. I will need it!
Ouch! Hey! On the bright side you get to keep the car and fix it. My friend's cayman was written off after an idiot of a lady driver cut him off.
Yeah, that's true. It's definitely painful, but really pretty minor damage all considering.
Any dash-cam video? These things can be either shame or blame ;-)
After some near misses caused by crazy/distracted drivers, both my wife and I always drive with dash-cams.
That's a really good idea. I don't have a dash cam, but I definitely think it's a good idea. Any recommendations for dash cams, Simon?
Simon Chadwick He didn't have a dash cam but the police came and noted it was the lady's fault. The insurance also paid up. The rest is history.
Burner's Cars can't wait to see more of your update videos. I like your idea of a carbon hood. Hope you have success. 👍
i'm sorry about your car. i hope it gets fixed soon
Thanks! I'm hard at work on the solution... hopefully positive updates to come soon!

Very true!
Love the vids!
Where did you go man.
Hi, I would like to know, if you plans to go back o just rid out of you Boxster? Cheers
Where did you go?
i wonder why he stopped uploading
Where are you, Ben?
Hi Burner! Hope you are doing well. No more videos mate? Come onnnnnn
Where do you buy the clips from? Like the ones that are in the door panels
I take it you sold the Porsche & bought a ford fiesta
Where did you go????
Ben when are you coming back?
Where are your fantastic videos ?
I backed mine into my wife's car in my own drive, so there you go
Ben, I found you a carbon fiber hood. $450 gets it!
I would make rims out of carbon fiber
Next update??
Hmmm I would make the rear deployable spoiler carbon fiber
Great idea!
Yep had the same idea.Rear spoiler FTW!
So.... what happened?
what ever happen to this guy?
3D print a hood?
Where are you?
Pls come back
Is this channel still alive...?
Hi I have a problem
Burned
I think he got IMS failure?. Quit boxster DIY?
Burner is kill

Crap, another dead channel, why does this keeps happening to me! 🤦♂️
Where are you?
