@@popupcamperpro your welcome sir...thanks again
Question. If my ceiling is wet and black (possible mold) from around this same area, can just that piece of wood be replaced without doing the whole ceiling? As it's only in that area. You can see a slight sag in the roof when looking at it. Great video! I will be replacing my gasket now and also subscribing. Thanks
You sure can Joshua! Just replace the affected areas.
@@popupcamperpro awesome!!! This ought to be fun. Hopefully I can get that sagging out of the roof by fixing this spot. This channel is amazing. I'll try and take pictures and tag you. Thanks!!
Excellent! exact question I was looking for! Is there any videos on the replacement of the ceiling in the affected areas? any recommendations on how to do that?
This weekend we ran our AC hard for 12+ hours. It sounded like water was leaking in the unit, so I shut it off and a ton of water came pouring into the camper thru the filter. Any idea what would cause that? I checked the drip pan earlier this spring and didn't notice anything wrong with it. Almost like the condensation built up and didn't go anywhere. Perhaps I reinstalled the tray wrong?
It’s possible. Please take a look at our drip tray service video.
hey man i have a seam that runs horizontally across my ceiling. i am seeing water there. i just had a new roof put on and i am still seeing water. could a bad gasket be causing water to enter and travel through the ceiling?
It could be bad, or just needs to be compressed a bit more. Air conditioner mounting bolts should be tightened at least once a year to maintained a tight seal. Make sure that the air conditioner drip tray is not clogged and leaking as well. We have a how to video for this job on our channel also.
We discovered a leak this weekend while camping. Water on the rooftop from air conditioner. No rain. Tilted a little backwards to hopefully drain it off and it came thru the ceiling and light in multiple spots. Would this correct that problem?
It could, but you may have another issue going on with the drip tray. Please take a look at our video showing how to service and clean the condensation pan on your camper. Here is a direct link. ua-cam.com/video/jK7TYq2TbGs/v-deo.html
I am highly allergic to mold and the white styrofoam is covered in mold from the ac leaking. Do you have any suggestions of what I can spray on it? Thanks!
Sorry, but I do not know of a spray fix. I would recommend removing and replacing the affected insulation.
We seem to be missing the bolts for ours. Any idea where to get them
Search for camper air conditioner mounting bolts online, then click the SHOPPING link. Choose your AC manufacture's bolts.
How Long does a Gasket last on an RV Air Conditioner? Mine is 8 years old.
Good question! Periodically tighten them will extend the service life. I would say for a foam gasket 10 years would be my max.
Until you seal the 45° cuts in the roof membrane at each corner of the ac opening, you will continue to have water intrusion
Good tip. Thanks for sharing Tinkeritis!
@@popupcamperpro You can now buy a one piece gasket of closed cellular foam, expensive but the last one you will have to install. Some of these gaskets even new, are a joke.
So "retighten the mounting bolts after your first trip..." really? Take all that back off to check? Have you seen them loosen up much?
Yes, and it’s a common source for water to leak in if they are not kept tight. Not every ceiling assembly is as difficult to remove the inner cover to check.
