- Hop the Fence yoyo trick. Hop the Fence is a reverse loop thrown down towards the ground. YoYoTricks.com
Get the Oracle Yoyo we recommend for learning this trick: yoyotricks.com/shop/oracle-yo...
It is a fun kids toy that is good enough to do the most professional yoyo tricks.
can't believe I had to look this up for a physics problem
__spencer__ lmao no way
my grandpa taught me this one and he called it over the falls
That is pretty normal when working on this trick. Just make sure that you have the right kind of yoyo (one that is designed for looping) and that you do your initial throw properly. This trick takes a while to learn, so just keep at it and I am sure you will get it :)
The yoyo flips over when you do this trick, and for each hand it flips over the opposite way. One way makes it tighter, the other way makes it looser.
@MrCamrocks102 Kind of, I find that when I am doing hop the fence the yoyo is angled inward slightly... that is, the part of the yoyo furthest from me is usually angled more towards the center of my body, while the part of the yoyo closest to me is angled towards the sides of my body. Hope that helps!
@braveblade87 I do not use my fingers to flick the string, most of the power comes from my wrist. However, I do use my index finger to guide the string. I keep my index and middle finger together during this trick and the string is usually touching my index finger.
Thanks a lot for the info .. it doesnt matter much since its bearing passed away the second day ...
@YoTriskut If I understand you right it is supposed to be a little tilted and a little turned... more turned than tilted though.
@Burialhound Yes, the yoyo flips over on its axis during this trick.
I have hit my eye once and bellow my eye brows (and its started bleeding a little) with yoyo while doing this trick. But im using a sage so its not ideal for this trick, plus i think ive been holding the yoyo too high up. Be careful while doing this trick, or these migth happen to you!
@rubik0912 You do not need a brain yoyo to do this trick. When the yoyo hits the bottom of the string your hand should be moving up slightly, and this will help the yoyo to come back. It will also help if you lube the bearing on the yoyo.
How can left or right handed make a difference between gettin tighter or looser, didn't understand that...
Does the yoyo flip over on its axis like in Loops or does it stay on one plane the whole time?
Can i use a [yo]2 tripleaction for this trick? And should i get another one?
I do this trick but sometimes my yo yo keeps turning around while I do the hop the fience, can you tell how to make my yo yo stop turning around while I do this trick?
Do you use your middle finger to flick the yoyo or index?
I use the Domninator yoyo, and when I try to do hop the fence, the yoyo keep sleeping and won't come back until i pull it, do I have to use a brain yoyo to do hop the fence or I have to pull the yoyo back everytime i flip it.
What's the point of doing tricks if the string always end up being thighten or loosened?
Yo YoTricks, have you guys/going to do update videos of 2A????
Yes.
is the Sage a good yoyo for these types of looping tricks? i find im having trouble because it sleeps so well
The Sage is not designed for repetitive looping tricks like this. If you are interested in looping ticks we suggest you get a yoyo designed specifically for looping, like the Oracle.
yoyotricks.com/yoyo-store/yoyo-brands/yotricks/oracle-yoyo/
i have a semi responsive butterfly type yoyo ,the sage to be exact, will that work or do i need a fully responsive imperial yoyo like yours
+Miles Prower It is much much easier to do this trick on a thinner yoyo, like an imperial or an Oracle. Wide responsive yoyos can do this, but it will be harder to control.
What does it mean when you say the string will get "tighter" or "looser"? The slipknot will tighten or loosen around your finger?
No, we are talking about the twists in the string. Yoyoers call it string tension.
if i don't flip my hand over and just keep a fist-does the string rest on top of my index finger or is it between my middle and index fingers?
JackEffenBauer On top.
can you do it with a sage? i lubed it with a bit more than usual, but it still doesn't come back when it gets to the end of the string and i move my hand up at the same time.
zappysta This trick would be incredibly difficult with a Sage since it is so wide. If you are interested in looping tricks I suggest you get a yoyo designed for looping, like the Oracle.

keeps going towards or hit my leg when I bring it down s
again, anything i can do to help with that problem?
+Amber Gao What kind of yoyo are you using?
When the yoyo comes back up, the string should wind from the front correct ?
Yes.
When practicing this trick I have noticed that the slip knot around my finger seems to slide and rotate as it looses grip. Is there a way to fix this problem? I bought the oracle starter pack and am using the polyester strings.
Corey Jewell When you put the slip knot on your finger make sure that the double strings from the slip knot are on the outside part of your finger (so on your right hand, make sure the double strings from the slip knot are on your right). That should solve the problem.
yotricks worked like a dream. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Awesome!
Will a Duncan limelite work
+Shondipon Pramanik Yes.
I wear my yoyo the same way but it hurts my finger and i know you guys have those finger sleeves but my mom wont let me buy one can you suggest any other ways?
+xX_MLG Attack_HelicopterXx If you keep yoyoing then your finger will develop a callus, which just means that your skin will get thicker where the string touches it so that it no longer hurts. It takes a couple of weeks for this to happen, but once it does you will not need finger tape so much.
+yotricks oh thanks i have actual started developing callus on my yoyo hand and its become more rough on my palm as well
Great.
Regarding the question with how to control the yoyo the sleep or loop, when I try to do this trick it just sleep. I can't easily do loop the loop but I want to prevent it from sleeping now.
yuta inoue To keep the yoyo from sleeping in this trick you need to make sure that your hand is moving up when the yoyo hits the bottom of the string. What kind of yoyo are you using?
Yomega Fireball.
I'm now using Yomega Fireball. There was a correction on my last comment. I can do loop the loop but when doing hop the fence, it sleeps.
yuta inoue OK, in that case I think the advice I gave will work. If you want the yoyo to be a bit more responsive you can put a little vaseline on either side of the transaxle.
Ok I'll start practicing on it
When I do this trick the string of the yoyo starts to wrap around my finger and it is on the top of it therefore messing up the trick. I also have the string tight around my finger.
When the yoyo is at the end of the string you need to bend your finger in so that the string falls off of it before it comes back up to your hand.
The Velocity is not a great yoyo for learning this trick. It would be easier to learn on a looping yoyo like the Dominator in this video. That being said, learning looping tricks like Hop the Fence takes a very long time and they can be very sloppy at first. That is just part of it. With more practice things will straighten out.
Any good tricks for the velocity?
I can't do it with my velocity
Dear yotricks,
It's adithya again I got my loop 360 and it is great but I can't do this trick because I cannot do a gravity pull for some reason? I keeping doing sleepers and I have tried throwing it softer but I can't do it and it is impossible for me to learn this trick if I can't do that so any tips? They would be much appreciated.
As the yoyo gets down to the bottom of the string your hand should be moving upward. If the yoyo still sleeps then you may want to try lubing the bearing with thick yoyo lube.
oh, i tried that and i did it twice thanks so much!
Great! I'm glad it worked!
Whenever i try this trick my yoyo (Yomega Xodus II) starts UFOing, any suggestions?
Since the Xodus is so wide it makes it nearly impossible to do this trick.
yotricks What yoyo would you recommend for looping? The loop 360?
Indeed!
yotricks What other yo-yos would you recommend from your store?
P.S. Thanks for all of your help!
We recommend everything in our store... that is why we carry them. Unlike other companies that seem to try to carry everything, we carry very few yoyos, only those we really like. If you are looking for looping yoyos, we only carry three (not counting wood yoyos), and we highly recommend them all.
yoyotricks.com/yoyo-store/tag/looping-yoyos/
Hop the fence is the reverse Loop the loop. Haha
I guess this will only work with a responsive yoyo?
+Joe Moore Your guess is correct.
+yotricks ok thanks! 😊
Well
If you want you can do a Frontstyle Regen thats basically like Hop the Fence.
Joe Moo
It doesnt keep spinning when I put my hand forward
When you push your hand forward the yoyo should be mostly wound up. As it unwinds down the string it should already be spinning. What do you mean when you say it does not keep spinning when you put your hand forward?
yotricks it's OK now I'm using the velocity that's why it doesn't work well
My yoyo keeps on sleeping, any help yotricks
It could be unresponsive what yoyo did you get
Azcend I had a bad one but have a better one now and still yoyo here and there crazy you found my comment I don’t even remember leaving this one
Bruh im tryin to loop thats why.
Hey guys,
When I do this trick, it will come back up, so I move my hand forward, and flick my wrist to flip it over. But it will start to rotate, and rotate, until it starts "sleeping beautying" And will just get out of control, rarely can I get over 3 loops without this happening thanks!
Kai Bagley That is totally normal when learning this trick. Unfortunately, besides practicing, there are no tips I can give that will make this trick any easier. One thing I can say is that if you are using a yoyo that is not designed for looping tricks this trick will be almost impossible to learn.
Ohh, okay, that makes me feel much better. Thank you!
I thought it was called inverted V
Is that not milk the cow?
Milk the Cow is when you do Hop the Fence with two hands.
I noticed you wear the yoyo loop in front of your second knuckle. I wear it at the base of my finger, is this a bad habit to get into?
+Noah Tonnesen It won't be so problematic right away, but as you get better and better it will hold you back a little. It would be better to switch right now, if you can take it.
Can you do it with a brain yoyo?
Roger Zuniga Yes.
Bad need more info
Shut
When I watch the video I can see that the yoyo is at a angle like doing the loop,is that important when learning this trick?
+Huy Nguyen It is.
