If I'm not mistaken he reacted to a clip where someone took a video of him yoyoing and put on top of an image of the WYYC2014 stage and I remember thinking "THIS IS THE MOMENT!! YOYOING IS GOING TO BE A REAL THING AGAIN!!"
Yo-yos were everywhere when I was younger, to the point everyone had at least three on them, broken yo-yos littered the streets and have them confiscated from us in class. I miss yo-yos I’m going to buy one tomorrow. Man this video made me feel all nostalgic for my youth.

All the people who used to make videos about fidget spinners would definitely enjoy throwing a lot more

I started learning how to yoyo again about a month ago. I bought the sage starter kit and love it. I've got 16 tricks mastered so far and love the yoyotricks app. It's awesome to see Felix yoyoing. I had no idea he threw.

I have been so disappointed with plastic yoyo’s that went out of control, and you just taught me that the sting needs to be at the top of the yoyo. I even know how to do some basic tricks and I didn’t even think to look at the physics of the string position, thanks dude.

What happened to the sage being the recommended? Not particularly against a change but it's so weird to hear you guys recommend something for beginners, that's not the Sage.
We try to make a distinction between beginner yoyos (like the Fizz) and starter yoyos (like the Sage). Beginner yoyos are easier, while starter yoyos can be upgraded for unresponsive play. In the last 4 tutorials I filmed (not counting this) 2 were Sage and 2 were Fizz. We like both and I feel like both really have their place.

You are the best teacher I have found yet. Still struggling a lot with the breakaway and similar "side" tricks - I think my throw is still not strong enough - but will get there without breaking too many things from my living room
One thing to note, if some people are unable to hold their hand straight when throwing it, you can twist the string just a little while it’s spinning and it’ll start to move in a certain direction (can’t remember which direction twist goes which way).

Fireball should get you through half or more of these tricks. If you are interested in getting good at yoyoing I would suggest either the Fizz yoyo in this video or the Sage Starter Pack. The fireball uses a transaxle, which makes it play terribly on the string. The Fizz is wider and it uses a ball bearing so all your basic string tricks are much easier to learn.
THank you for the video. I just started yoyoing and personally, I find doing loop the loop to be extremely difficult T_T . I mean I've already been through all the basic string tricks like Double or Nothing, Split the atom, Barrel Roll etc. But I couldn't do loop the loop even once, even though i used a specialized yoyo for string trick like the Magic Yoyo GHZ. I guess looping tricks are not for me TOT. I don't know whether I should give up the looping and try to focus on string tricks instead.

I was just looking for something to deal with anxiety and release energy while being stuck indoors. I could do some of the basics in elementary school but didn't realize the subtle but meaningful dynamics of yoyo playing and yoyos. Everything from the weight, material, length of the string, type of axel or ball bearing, material of axel or ball bearing, different kinds of mounts, ways to get creative and explore tricks and feel the joy of discovery through experimentation. As a 31 year old I am far better after just a few weeks of practice than I was as a kid in the Yomega hayday of the 90s. I'm currently working on a series that will include Yoyo heavily focused on Nostalgia and the boom in culture during my childhood and want to talk with experts in the field and am currently working with some yoyo and skill toy manufacturing companies. There is a Replay, and a Replay Pro. If you got the pro it will do some but not all of these tricks. The normal Replay should be able to do the all. And the Fizz can do them all, of course.

If you eventually want to get to larger complex tricks that require a long sleeper, then you may as well dive head first into unresponsive play. Personally, I like the ease of use with responsive throws. While waiting in line at the store, I can just casually take it off the holster and do some throwdowns or forward passes to pass time. If you want to show off a bit to people watching, it doesn't take anything that difficult to impress them. Usually Around the Corner is the peak of awesome for a captivated kid.
It will work to buy the Fizz Beginner Pack, in fact, we recommend that. Gloves are not meant to keep your hand from hurting, although they will stop string burn. If your hand hurts when you catch the yoyo then you just need to move your hand away from the yoyo as you catch it to cushion the blow.

It just means that your yo-yo isn’t set up right, if you want to know how to set it up right then look up “setting up a yo-yo”
