    I have used Speedplays for over 20 years and love them. The only issue I have ever had is with the small screws coming out, so I always check and tighten them if needed before rides. With the rubber dam around the current models this might be less of a problem. Speedplay sold replacement screws but I went to the hardware store and got the same size ones for a lot less. 🙂

      That's great to know. Love that you got them from the hardware store 🤣 hate it when they pump up the price for things like that!

    Always been intrigued by the speed play pedals. Thanks for your video

      Cheers! Yeah surprisingly they aren't all that common. Guess people are pretty happy with normal spds

    Why did this seem like a fake review promoted by Wahoo? The last video you moaned about the clicking but this video you warn against how you were so wrong but avoided saying where the noise was actually coming from. Just seems a little suspect.

      Thanks for the feedback! I actually don't know where the clicking noise came from 🤦🏽‍♂️ I full stripped and cleaned the bike one day and it disappeared. Strange because it was so consistent and persistent! Sadly not sponsored by wahoo

    I've heard that clicking noise before. My ultegra crankset started coming apart also. I thought it was the pedals too haha.

    • @alexreader
      @alexreader  Рік тому +1

      That's so funny, about a month ago now my cranket fully came apart. Turns out it must have been that all this time. Massive crack along it that was probably getting worse and worse without me realising. Good excuse for me to upgrade to a power meter with a new crank 🤣

    The screws in the cleat where most likely loose. I have used speedplay wahoo for years. Had the same problem years ago . Redid the screw on the cleat problem solved

    • @alexreader

      They were loose! Turns out though my ultegra crank was ripping apart 🤣 one of the ones that needed to be recalled

    I've been riding on Speedplay for about 10 years now and need new ones, but I hesitate to continue with Wahoo altough people say that they solved the 'lateral play ' issue, is that really the case...?

    • @alexreader

      I still to this day have no idea 🤣 I got rid of it by stripping everything down and cleaning everything. Just randomly disappeared after that. Crazy becuase it was loud and persistent!

      🤣 im definitely a fan. Favourite pedal system I've used. What are you using at the minute? I've actually no idea, bike shop couldn't work it out either. It was so specific to putting pressure down on the right side. I just gave the bike a really good clean and it disappeared after that 🤣🤦🏽‍♂️

    I see you have done a couple of triathlons on them... how are they in transitioning... saw you running on the cleats. Good grip, solid running until mounting line? of more caution like?
    I am looking to install them on my canyon speedmax tot replace my current setup with magped system.

    • @alexreader
      @alexreader  Рік тому

      I've really liked them for tris, I did an Olympic distance one in them a couple of months ago and can't fault them. With the rubber cover over the cleat they are much less slippy than normal spds. They don't seem to be to bad with dirt and grass either really. But do have to have some level of caution because they still stick out. How do you like the speed max?

    • @obely1
      @obely1 Рік тому +1

      @@alexreader thx for the feedback... The speedmax is top for me... i have the mechanical shifters, but for an upgrade or newer version i would go for electronic shifting.

    So what was the issue?

    • @alexreader
      @alexreader  Рік тому +2

      Ah man it's a long story. Nobody could figure out what it was and it totally disappeared one day after I did a deep clean of the bike. But the clicking came back not to long ago, and about a month of it returning I realised there was some play in my crank. Closure inspection revealed I completely cracked ride side ultegra crank arm. Almost to the point of it slitting in two. So I guess it was cracked for a long time and slowly got worse ha. Since swapped it and upgraded to power crank at the same time. Wooo
