Is Anglophenia dead? I understand Kate has her own channel, but I don't watch this channel for her. I watch for Anglophenia.
contact her and find out !
What is kate's channel?
ECO BOOST (Her channel, or another she works on; Whichever). Also one that shares her name.
link to her channel?
is she an actress?
its been three months. where are you? :(
+Katie MacKinnon
yepp, was wondering too... Kate Arnell, I am missing your vids! Good to see you are alive and kicking on your own twitter but this Channel has no vids anymore and the anglo-twitter reads like a BBC linking machine. hmm, sold to the bbc? Done with YT? No "goodbye and thanks for the fish" vid? :)
I know right! Only it's closer to 4 now
5 months now. :(
+Bethany Redd Glad to see that others have noticed that their videos have mysteriously stopped on this channel....... WHERE ARE YOU X
Hello, Anglopheniaaa?
missing you Anglophenia. If you guys aren't going to post any longer please tell your subs so we can mourn and find closure. If not, please post another video. :-)
Unfortunately not... But we have a similar channel. Click on my profile and tell me what you think ;-)
?? We do :-)
I'm a big fan of you guys (Anglophenia) and it really saddens me that you haven't uploaded a video in nearly 2 months.
I wish you guys would make more videos. This is probably my favorite UA-cam show.
I just binge-watched all Anglophenia episodes :)
Wasn't pocket dial a thing when phones still had buttons?
Yes it was
Can you post more often
has this channel stopped
Where are you guys?!
this girl's smile is just driving me crazy
I miss this channel. I've watched everything. More videos, please.
1:56 Interesting colour correction.
+maybachlover15 -I don't know if you would call that a "correction", it looks a bit faded to me. It is different right at that second.
+maybachlover15 Good catch, though I prefer the hue prior to this time mark.
+maybachlover15 Ha! I caught that, too. Most professional outfits shoot a desaturated image like that and then color grade later (results in a better picture). Looks like they forgot to grade that clip.
Thank you for reminding me how much I hate modern culture
LOL me too
+Terence Francis It has nothing to do with fear, and everything to do with taste. I agree with Leah, modern culture sucks.
+Leah Davis This. Thank you for this.
That's why I live in 2006
Stop trying to make personal attacks on people because they disagree with you.
What happened to this channel? I miss hearing her accent. Being from the U.S. these beautiful English women truly have my heart
I won't lie, when I originally found this channel over the summer, I spent my entire afternoon binge watching ever current episode (rather than writing my dissertation exam material - I think I made the right choice ;)).
please make more videos... absolutely love this channel!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
love this hope you make more new episodes
Just watched the new episode from August 2016. Love the production quality of the new video but kinda hope you come back around to videos with more of an upbeat vibe. Either way, keep up the great work and doing what you enjoy.
Really been enjoying watching this video series - and I'm neither from America nor from the UK!
You should make a video on healthcare in the UK vs in the US - certainly a hot topic in the news at the moment.
Génial!
I discovered this chain because of my English teacher who show video for oral comprehension ^^ Since , I became a fan ! I love these videos and a lot of my classmates have subscribed to the channel . Thank you Anglophenia for these great videos! (sorry for potential mistakes^^')
I miss this channel so much
Kate, great vid. Oh, and love your lipcolor!
new videos please????????!!!! love this series !!
So did you guys just stop making these?
I love these videos...
I miss this channel!
this was a very fun and interesting video. Thanks. Not sure though what it has to do with Britain or British culture. But still fun to watch!
+simpsoned27 Well, it's about the English language which, after all, comes from over there. ;)
+nrgins It was Based on words entered in the Oxford Dictionary, which comes out of England, Great Britain, United Kingdom, and not words that were added to the American, Webster Dictionary.
+nrgins I guess the aim of this channel is to make foreigners know a little bit more of british culture. You might see it in a different way because you're from the US or because english is your first language, but for total foreigners who don't share the english as the first language this can be considered as a british (and anglophone countries in general) culture video. Cause this ''approaches'' me to the english world hahaha
- From a guy from Barcelona who loves every single one of your videos +Anglophenia
Eduard Cruset Hear hear! Writing here from Argentina.
Eduard, bones festes.
+Neldidellavittoria Parlant en català i tot! Bon Nadal i bones festes :)))
We need new videos
Absolutely amazing
I miss these videos.
I'm sure someone else will have mentioned this, but Awesomesauce has been in use for several years at least over in Canada, certainly that's where I first heard it.
Great video!😄
Oxford dictionary has lost all credibility.
+Majoofi No, you just don't actually know what dictionaries are for. They don't exist as some sort of official body to legitimize certain words and not others. They exist merely to document words and describe their various usages.
+Majoofi I agree with The Goodly Dragon. It's ridiculous to say Oxford Dictionary has lost all credibility just for recognizing that people use a certain word, because that's what dictionaries do.
+The Goodly Dragon I don't find issue with the fact that Oxford Dictionary recognized Lolz or other slang terms as words, because they are in fact words. I do think having their word of the year literally be a picture and not a word does decrease their credibility.
Dan Cancelmo Yes, I agree with that.
+Majoofi languages are always evolving.. you'd be amazed how many words you use now that were considered horrible newfangled Americanisms just a hundred years ago. You have to move with the times!
So bummed that I found this channel after it seems to be gone.
Hey +Anglophenia come back we all miss you !
I just discovered your channel this week and have been totally binging! I would like you to explore two topics, 1. When Brits us "can't" as in aunt and "can" as in pan. 2. The phenomenon of US movies who an english accent in movies to depict a french accent (example: Drew Barrymore in Ever After. This is just one example but it happens a lot. Things that make you go hmmm.)
"pocket dialing" and "butt dialing" have been around the vernacular lexicon since the epidemic of candy bar phones in the early-to-mid 2000's. (The Nokia 6000 series users were particularly prone to including their most-recently-dialed-contact into whatever _cotidiano_ conversation they are having with the checkout lady at the supermarket or as witness to their indecision as they stumble through their order at Starbucks... Ah, the good old days of, "Hello! ...hello? ...aw, hell... oh, you buttdialed me again."
(It could be fantastically voyeuristic, depending on your friends and the situation... The female-specific "purse dialing" not really catching on as a thing, because with that all you could hear was lipstick pens clanking around in the bottom of a cavernous COACH™ handbag...)
As a side note, the Spanish of "butt dialing" has been _buttdialeando_ ...which ranks right up there with _bipbipear_ as a funny cellphone-related word.
+Tristan Morrow - I personally get a lot of purse or backpack dials these days.
+Tristan Morrow Cotidiano! Wow, I've just learnt a new English word. Or have I? ;) Do we say buttdialear? Never heard that one. In which country?
omg this video was uploaded on my birthday
what happened to this channel? I loved it!
Where are new videos?...Longing to see something new!
Just stumbled on this channel today....shame its all ended :(
The anglophenia Twitter account has a post stating a new episode is being worked on at the moment, "working on a new episode as we speak"
twitter.com/anglophenia/status/747458738961924096
I would love to see a video about "hidden gem" places to visit in the UK; rather than the usual London Eye and Stonehenge. If people in the UK went on a "stay-cation" (not leaving the UK), where would they go for fun and relaxation, while avoiding a jam of tourists?
+SaoirseFaith
Probably not going to happen. Most of her videos are always about food or vocabulary. That's about it. I don't think she has the range that Siobhan had with her videos.
We'll see. I've loved all the food and vocabulary things to be honest with you, especially the teas, cocktails and Christmas videos... I don't know whether the travel ones will be picked up again, but it's worth suggesting all the same. :)
This would be amazing! I've been an au pair in England for about four months now and I'm probably going to stay here until July/August. I'm planning on travelling a lot when the weather gets warmer.
+SaoirseFaith I went to the Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfalls, Wales. Blew my mind plus there were about 2 other people around. :)
I was using Awesomesauce in early 2000, same with pocketdailing.
I keep checking for new content on this channel. Please come back!
It's been 7 years (so far) since a video was released. So sad...
Not only a great channel, but the presenters are pretty, adorable and smart. I melted.. they're my most desirable attractive features.
They're both unhappy looking SJW feminist women now unfortunately.
Remember when this channel was about Britain
+mrscorpion1829 - you are so very correct. If you like websites or UA-cam channels about England, or just London go to Joolz Guides -he is hilarious and very English with lots of funny and sometimes informative facts about London and England in general.
+mrscorpion1829 I agree. The last two or three videos have nothing to do with the UK - Christmas dishes from around the world and Thanksgiving have little to do with the UK. I doubt if many, if any, of the words in this video have their origins in the UK.
+mrscorpion1829 Yes......unsubscribe...
+mrscorpion1829
They exhausted that subject matter; it's a small island.
+AndrewofWare Actually, without Britain, your thanksgiving wouldn't exist.
Oh my gosh the short hair is so cute!
It's been 8 years now, i hope she is well.
Hi! Thanks for all the nice videos on this channel! Will there also be a "New words from 2016" video? Pretty please? :-)
Where are you, Anglophenia? We miss you!
Been wishing for a new episode for the last four months... Still not happening :( But love you Anglophenia
+Noura1234 Wonder where they've gone.
this episode was really awesomesauce
Please come back :(
Awesome Sauce was popular in America years ago on the show Parks and Recreation when April told Andy she loved him and he replied, "Awesome Sauce!" She got mad at him but got over it. They got married it and the network NBC promoted it as the "Awesome Sauce Wedding." Lolz.
Most of these words were words before the year 2015, and I know this because I have been shut-up in my office for most of 2015, so any memories of me conversing with these words with other people was assuredly before the year 2015.
I did actually binge watch all of the Anglophenia episodes today haha
They are cool, we have a similar channel. Click on my profile and tell me what you think ;-)
What happened to Anglophenia??? I love these videos!!!
Pocket dial is mad old school.
I love her. I've watched all the episodes and I can now go to Britain. Successfully
she looks nice!
May we be getting a new video soon? It would be brilliant!
Perhaps you could explain the term "Liverpool Supporter." It pops up and is a complete mystery. A web search doesn't help much either.
I miss the videos....please post new video soon!
OMG.. where are you guys?!
We really miss you!!
Can you discuss the expression "Sod this for a game of soldiers!" Does adding "for a game of soldiers" make sod it weaker or stronger? And what does the game of soldiers bit refer to?
Where are the 2016 episodes?
your accent is amazing
By 2015, these words were years old in the states. I don't see why they'd be new in the uk considering the Internet
Yes, they are old, the point it, many of them are now official and classed as actual words according to dictionaries. The American dictionaries were also slow to add trending modern words to their lists. despite words like noob / newbie being around way before Scrubs... many spellcheckers still class these words as spelt wrong, despite many of us understanding and accepting them as words.
What's going on, Anglophenia? It's been bloody 6 months now. Where on earth are you guys??????
I just came to check if there were any new videos. There's been nothing in ages.
Beautiful makeup!
"Pocket dial" as well as half of the other words in this video have been around for at least 10 years.
This was a good Channel Where did you go?
I believe they didn't have enough views... But we have a similar channel. Click on my profile and tell me what you think ;-)
i didnt know this channel is going to close with 2015. :(
any chance for reestablishing anglophenia? i enjoyed this a lot :)
Gosh I'm in love!
yes, she looks nice!
where are you? missing your videos !!
Wow, plot twist. I actually had just been binge watching this series 😂
I've been using Awesomesauce for a while... Way before 2015!
pls make a new video it has been nearly half a year. where are you?
last year the word of the year was the tears of joy emoji and this year it's post-truth...
I want to see the next video why is not up there has not one uploaded yet? There has not been one for 3 months
I refuse to call any board that does not hover a hoverboard.
My favourite term is "Netflix neck", as in: My lady and I woke up with killer Netflix neck after binge-watching Orange is the New Black the whole day yesterday.
My term for the current noise that is called music - ESC for example - abounded in what I call SMS-pop - that is a tune which lyrics consists of only 140 characters and is insipidly repeated in absurdum and ad infinitum.
Kate is an awesomesaucepot!? By the way, have you stopped posting new vids?
PLEASE , keep with the amazing vids!.
just please please please add subtitles to them.
brit accent is a bit hard to understand
Super 👌
Why has this channel stopped uploading?
The proclaimed German Teen-Word of 2015 is "Smombie" like a smartphone zombie, a person who is constantly on their phone. But no teenager had heard it beforehand... Interesting.
Has the uploading stopped at this channel for good ?
technically skater tony hawks tried out the real hoverboard that does hover in 2015 before the seg was released and the public renamed it a hoverboard.
HEY BBC!!! GET THIS LADY A SHOW
You have no idea how much I'd love to have this accent !!! But everytime I speak with my relatives in USA I speak more like them ( I live in Brazil, and have no one to talk) -_-
has anglophenia been stopped? there hasn't been a new video for 3 months :(
alasdairw a year in fact
In a recent meeting of Parliament, MP Victoria Atkins referenced an American political candidate as a "wazzok" (please forgive the probable spelling error). Can you at Anglophenia help me understand just how much I should enjoy this lovely new (to me) word?
I paid for some groceries by cheque (= check) in the US once. The cashier pointed at the cheque (=check) and said "put your John Hancock on that". This is slang for a signature but I misunderstood and got thrown out the store (I made that last part up).
speaking on "pocket dial", you know how you can voice message people on the Facebook Messenger App...my boyfriend accidental sent me a voice message, he had no idea he was recording.... while he was saying something bad about me...
2015 is a year best sumed up by Crylaughing.
