It may be wrong of me to point this out as I am truly obsessed with GM, however, couldn’t help but notice the rejection in EJ towards GM as he attempted to embrace him in the last seconds of this video. I’ve always felt over the years that EJ had some bitterness regarding GM … possibly regarding some sort of “personal/emotional affair. I am now convinced.
By giving an award to Wham for their visit to China they decided to include Elton too for performing in Russia 7 years previous! Elton hated that award, when he got home he smashed it into pieces. It was an affront to Cliff Richard (seen on camera) who, in 1976, was actually the very first western pop act to perform in the soviet union. A pointless Brits handing out pointless awards and .... from Norman Tebbit of all people. Music and politics is like church and state, never the twain shall meet.
