That is one of the best classic silage videos yet. Camera man was excellent. He has the mowing, lifting and the buckraking. Even where he was filming from were good spots. Sound is excellent. Could hear the 10 series ford's as clear as if you were there. Even the in cab footage from tractor and harvester, unheard of back then. Just super. The 2wd non syncromesh men were proper proper pilots. Took skill to drive that kit. And that kit was very capable back then. Seeing the boys on the buckrake was just time warp stuff. Those men have forgot more incidents/accidents and handlings than we'll ever have. Keep them coming Johnny boy!
The time isn't long going on. Would love to be able to go back to them days. If you know of anyone else with old tapes with similar footage send them our way. It's not easy found, but when it is we can all share the memories.
What a beaty that 30340 is and what great tractors they were-knew one where it went around the clock 3 times, over 30,000 hours. Serviced regularly and engine sleeves replace 3 times plus usual wear and tear. Made to last
@oliver69cork46 I've got one and they are great tractors. Recently got a round bailer for her to play with and does over 500 silage bales each summer for us.
Proper kit controlled by the skilled operators, not a computer or GPS in sight. Cracking video thanks, Cheers Poth. My job was the pit with a Wetherall loading shovel and a Track Marshall 90 crawler, happy days.
Brilliant classic vlog one of the best I have watched..... Looks like the lads on the clamp buck raking were having a bit of a job with it tractors struggling to get up on top to roll it but still only two wheel drives, you never see that these days. Classic vidio thankyou
@@johnplatt8369 glad you enjoyed, we can't take the credit for filming this, we just do the capture and digitisation and processing etc. but agree, it is an absolute classic!
Wonderful farming archive footage from certainly to me the not too distant past. Some fabulous looking tractors (all 2wd) and a lovely self-propelled NH forager but to me the highlight has to be the Ford 5610 and Leyland 262 buckraking at the pit as this is how I remember so many farms doing this job 30-40 years ago doing a great job long before the days of 200+ hp tractors and huge loading shovels doing basically the same job no better than these 2wd classics. Thanks so much for uploading this, evokes so many happy memories from those classic days of silage making.
Thanks David, it's a real nice complete one this with action from mowing through to the pit. Highlight for me was the buckraking too, these boys were enjoying themselves with the camera there!
Brilliant footage brought back alot of memories of our old ford 6600 that we had on our farm for years great machine our contractor had a harvester and mower the same as the ones in the video and it was busy keeping the grass away even with 2 tractors and buckrakes🥵
@OldSchoolNI first tractor I buckraked with was a super major or a Nuffield 460 then a ford4000 or the ford 6600 then we purchased a ford 3910 4wd with no cab and an underswept exhaust
It's a great video. Really enjoyed. We had a tarrup 307 and some 1000 and 10 series Fords back in the 90's, one of which I'm still using now. A jaguar 60 chopping and some Bateson 'scissor' trailers.
@@OldSchoolNI I which I could I don’t think in my time anyone made tapes I was even looking for old photos and the person told me that they got damaged and couldn’t be recovered

Those videos are priceless, 1991 doesn't seem like that long ago to me but in reality its 33 years !!!!!
