- Hey Ya'll! :) In todays video we will be completing the project that I've been looking forward to the most !! We rented a drum sander from Home Depot (AGAIN!) and got to work! Starting from scratch never is fun but we think the end results were well worth it! We ran into a hiccup along the way but I think everything turned out amazingly in the end! The living room/dining room still has a long way to go so stay tuned for the next video! Let us know down in the comments what you think of the results! 🫶🏾

From the looks of the chalky one, it appears you didn’t stir the stain before applying. This would make it lighter on the first half of the container and when you reach the bottom the color is settled down there. Love how the floors turned it!

I noticed when she first swatched it that it looked NOTHING like my can of antique white. I just knew she never shook it or stired it or anything. 😬Glad she caught it in time.

The floors look great. Have you guys thought about updating the baseboards as well, that would definitely make the floors pop even more.

I had the exact thing happen in a 1950’s house when we refinished the floors. We ended up redoing them twice because of mistakes in the stain and poly…and some application issues (complete user error) as well. But…we made the mistakes in all three bedrooms, the hallway, and two living areas…so…the mistakes and do overs were a monumental amount of work. I really identified with your frustration because I can remember looking at those floors and wondering if they were possessed. It seemed like nothing we did worked out the way we thought it would in spite of multiple trips to Home Depot and several phone calls to help lines on the products we used. We didn’t give up though because we couldn’t. In the end they came out beautifully but I really thought it would never happen. So…you’re not alone…it’s really hard to crack the code on those old hardwood floors. You and Marcus did it though and it’s beautiful! Plus…you two were SO smart to experiment in only one room until you got it right instead of the whole house like we did. Can’t wait to see it with the furniture back in!

Your floors turned out beautifully. Your hard work and dedication to the restoration of your home is so very admirable. The two of you make a great team. 🥰 One thing to remember about stains are they need to be mixed very well to keep the components from separating. I've found even after the initial stir and/or mixing, I still need to remix every 15 mins or so. Much love and prayers for abundant now and always over your marriage and home.💕🙏
