A beautiful ‘classically’ influenced song that marks the return of Rick Wakeman back into YES. The compliments of spanish guitar (Howe) and synthesizers (Wakeman) along with Jon’s vocals (& writing) make this a wonderous song. I always feel light and happy after listening to this song! And wait till you hear ‘Awaken’! Looking forward to your reactions!
Before plunging into the epic 20 minutes pieces, i'd say check out a couple more shorter pieces like And You And I, South Side of The Sky, or Starship Trooper, and if you're still loving it, then get ready for a few trips...
4:50 Yeah, YES has that effect on a lot of people. Rick Wakeman, their keyboard player, said this about their singer, Jon Anderson: "Jon is the only person I know, who's trying to save this planet, while living on another one" Can't wait until you get into their music with Jon's "esoteric lyrics".
Nailed it! The unique sounds this band can make are heavenly, and Jon Anderson's voice is angelic. Their music is beautiful. Great review. You absolutely nailed it!
They released this as a single back in '77 and it didn't chart very high. But all that pop crap that charted higher will never be remembered like this, and great music lives through generations as your reaction proves. By the way - listen to 'Turn Of The Century' from the same album. It wasn't released as a single, but it's an absolute masterpiece!
I agree with some of the other comments, take your time getting to the epic pieces, "No opportunity necessary, no experience needed" from the 2nd album Time & a word shows how adventurous they were becoming, "Heart of the Sunrise" from Fragile, "Starship Trooper" from The Yes album, "And you & I" from Close to the Edge, "To be over" from Relayer & "Turn of the Century" from Going for the One, all magnificent shorter to medium length songs. Listening to them before diving into their "Holy Trinity" their 3 masterworks: "Close to the Edge", "The gates of delirium" & "Awaken" will make the experience so much more special. Best wishes
Thank you for taking my request Zay.....after this song you MUST REACT TO Yes's Masterpiece song "Awaken" It is sooooo Beautiful.....the message and musicianship of the song will make you cry!!!
You know, one Yes song that never seems to get suggested is Shoot High Aim Low. I’ve always loved it great guitar work. Very hypnotic vibe. Dont know why more people don’t seem to like it?
Love Yes! They are a sound that’s both spiritual and so full! Love Rick Wakeman! Special musician and really funny guy!! They all are so great! And yes, heavenly! Nothing like it!! Glad you get it! Yes fans know what musicians can do and how creative they can be!!!!
This is one of their best "pretty songs", but if you enjoyed this one, you should check out 'Yesterday and Today', from their first album. They are probably my 2 favorite pretty songs by YES : )
One of the things that makes YES brilliant is to delve into the lyrics. Some of the lyrics are so intense that they bring a tear to the eye. Seeing them live in 1979 was one of the best shows I ever saw with Rick Wakeman on the keyboards........I can't describe the experience.
Close to the Edge is arguably the greatest prog song of all time! I can't wait until you hear this for the first time. Yes was at their pinnacle with this album.
This is a great song so thanks for sharing. Turn of the Century and Awaken are also amazing from this album. Yours is no Disgrace should be on your short list.
Zay, you keep picking some of the greatest music from the 70's. So glad you can turn on a new generation to there classic songs. I graduated HS in 1975, and Jon Anderson's vocals are amazing. Thanks for bringing it back. Let's add some early Genesis like "Trick of the Tail" and Dance on a Volcano. You're going to love it!
This is my fave Yes song--thanks for loving it. The word "transcendent" describes how I feel listening to Yes... it seemed like maybe the word you were looking for :)
Saw YES live around 10 times. Everyone was special… but, the Union Tour in 88 I think had more talent on one stage than I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot. Let me suggest the song Lift Me Up from the Union Album.
Your comment about their sound is bang on...and you haven't even heard AWAKEN yet!! They actually achieved the sound of ascending higher and higher, up Into the stratosphere, voices and harps, cathedral pipe organ with earth shattering power...coming from a 5 piece rock band?!?! Also VERY important that you get to 'Close to The Edge'...this is their crown jewel epic, there has never been anything like it before or since in the history of rock. It is a stunning achievement.
Just found your channel. Anyone who is a Yes fan is okay by me! Been following them for 40 years. Suggestions: "Awaken," "Turn of the Century," and "And You and I." So many others... Wonderous Stories has always been one of my favorite songs. You are right that it is uplifting.
Really one of the top maybe 5 prog rock bands. I'd be hard put to place them, suffice to say amazing players. After all these years they don't get old. Pretty cool
Here you go, a whole different funky rock vibe with 80's synth work by YES, absolutely brilliant! Owner Of A Lonely Heart - ua-cam.com/video/M1SlmdVGbug/v-deo.html
Another suggestion is Stevie Ray Vaughan remake of Jimmy Hendrix's "Little Wing", and it is an amazing version of the song. One of my most favorite songs ever!
YES suggestions. Fragile - Heart of the Sunrise, South Side of the Sky. The Yes Album- I’ve Seen All Good People, Perpetual Change, Yours Is No Disgrace, Starship Trooper. Close to the Edge - Close to the Edge, And You and I. Going For The One- Awaken. Tormato - Future Time/Rejoice, Don’t Kill the Whale, Release Release, On the Silent Wings of Freedom. That should get you started?😵💫😵💫😵💫
Basically every thing of YES you listern betwen ... '68 and '78 is just great ... then many cool things even after '80 ... but maybe here and there, not full albums. They left to us a precious baggage of art. Now my suggestions for more reactions. I am excluding the maximum operas of the the 15+ minutes tracks , like "CLose To The Edge", "The Revealing Science Of God", etc.. If you like something really soft "Yesterday and Today" from the first album (1968) If you like something hippy and proto-progressive you can try "Survaival" from the first album (1968) Something hippy "Dear Father" (between the first and the second album) (1969) Something underground and jazzy ? A very "dense track"? The one I consider the "manifest" of prog-rock? "Yours Is No Disgrace" from the third album (1970) A great YES cover with amazing melody and instrumental sections (guitar) ? "America" bonus-track (1971) ...good even the one from 1996 live show in S.Louis Obisbo Prog-rock ? "Heart Of The Sunrise" from the fourth abum (1971) Another "celestial track"? "And You And I" , fifth album (1972) An incredibly pioneering sounding composition? "Sound Chaser" (1974) An amazing steel-guitar and electric-guitar interlude? "To Be Over" (1974) Another "celestial pinnacle" ? "A Turn Of The Century" from Going For The One Album (1977) A punk-rock (very refined) track'? "Release, release" (1978) One unique sounding track re-creating an third type meeting with aliens? "Arriving UFO" (1978) Just for giving you a very short list :)
Looks like that it's been about a year since you've done anymore from Yes. You haven't even touched anything from their masterpiece albums "Close to the Edge" and "Relayer". Even with "Fragile" you've only done Roundabout. The are so many wonders yet to be discovered.
Glad to hear you went with "Wonderous Stories". This is my favorite Yes song. As far as the Yesathon, the first two albums have dated recording equipment. Modern playback shows those problems. My advice would be to start with "The Yes Album". It's their third album and the first with any of their greatest hits.
There are some great songs on those first two YES albums. Some of their best work in my opinion. I don't think you should discourage from listening.I've seen other people react to some songs from the first two albums with no sonic problems. He just needs to work out whatever it is.
Steve Howe gave a solo performance. He knows he is great, he demands silence from his audience. If he doesn't get it, he will stop playing, stand up, and shush you with a scowl on his face! You ought to know better.
not a particularly good song of theirs, the early years970 on ab0out a decade or 2 , owner of a lonely heart , heart of the sunrise, long distance runaound. , starship trooper, etc.
Vangelis loved Jon Anderson's voice and requested to do an album with him. Which were brilliant. But the most memorable song, for me at least, was I hear you now. Such a beautiful dream and haunting sound
Zay, I think you really nailed it when describing YES music. Its ethereal.
A beautiful ‘classically’ influenced song that marks the return of Rick Wakeman back into YES. Starship Trooper, yes!
He already reacted to starship trooper

It’s great to hear the younger generation like the music we oldies grew up with. Jon anderson has such a distinctive voice
Nailed it! The unique sounds this band can make are heavenly, and Jon Anderson's voice is angelic. Their music is beautiful. Great review. You absolutely nailed it!
Yes was one of my first favorite bands. Great song, great album, great reaction!
They released this as a single back in '77 and it didn't chart very high. By the way - listen to 'Turn Of The Century' from the same album. It wasn't released as a single, but it's an absolute masterpiece!
Reached no7 in UK.
This is awesome. I haven't heard this album in years.
This came out when I was 17 and it was an amazing follow up to Relayer featuring Pat Moraz on keys
Yes takes us on journeys to other realms. Our generation's great composers. Great reaction bro!
GREAT CHOICE, Zay. Not that there's a bad choice when it comes to Yes. Look forward to your next livestream!
Love Yes! They are a sound that’s both spiritual and so full! Love Rick Wakeman! Special musician and really funny guy!! They all are so great! And yes, heavenly! Nothing like it!! Glad you get it! Yes fans know what musicians can do and how creative they can be!!!!
The Steve Howe and Annie Haslam cover of turn of the century is the embodiment of beautiful.
This is one of their best "pretty songs", but if you enjoyed this one, you should check out 'Yesterday and Today', from their first album. They are probably my 2 favorite pretty songs by YES : )
Such a beautiful song. I love driving to this! And yes their sound is heavenly!
5. Close To The Edge .
One of the most peaceful uplifting wonderous stories.
One of the things that makes YES brilliant is to delve into the lyrics. Some of the lyrics are so intense that they bring a tear to the eye. Seeing them live in 1979 was one of the best shows I ever saw with Rick Wakeman on the keyboards........I can't describe the experience.
Hey Zay! Please, please, please check out Yes' TEMPUS FUGIT from the album Drama. That song is wide open!
Bro! Always YES. It’s all peace, love and great musicianship. ☮️❤️
Aint nothing crazy about getting a great feeling from the sound of music. Isn't that what it's all about?
Amazing vídeos, you really feeling It! Try Supertramp - Child of vision (their best one in my opinion). Guys upvote this! He Will melt
I fell in love with the music of Yes from the first time I heard them on the radio back in the day.
Close to the Edge is arguably the greatest prog song of all time! I can't wait until you hear this for the first time. Yes was at their pinnacle with this album.
This is the definitive line up of Yes.
This is a great song so thanks for sharing. Turn of the Century and Awaken are also amazing from this album. Yours is no Disgrace should be on your short list.
Awesome and beautiful!!❤️

Rick Wakeman on the keyboards is the master. The Jimi Hendrix of keyboards.
Rick wakeman made those keyboards play.. I love Yes
Gorgeous track, absolutely beautiful 💜
The album going for the one is evidence that classical music is still being created for future generations
Great to hear this again..keep it up young man
Your comment about their sound is bang on...and you haven't even heard AWAKEN yet!! They actually achieved the sound of ascending higher and higher, up
Into the stratosphere, voices and harps, cathedral pipe organ with earth shattering power...coming from a 5 piece rock band?!?! Also VERY important that you get to 'Close to The Edge'...this is their crown jewel epic, there has never been anything like it before or since in the history of rock. It is a stunning achievement.

You definitely definitely definitely need to listen to And You And I from the Symphonic Live!!!!
"Turn Of The Century"
If you see a band with keyboard after keyboard stacked up. This band started that.
Really one of the top maybe 5 prog rock bands. I'd be hard put to place them, suffice to say amazing players. After all these years they don't get old. Pretty cool
Yes, More Yes, please.
wonderful, oh my goodness!!!!!!!!
Listening to "yes makes me want to be a better person.
"Then" was a song they wrote early on. Listen to it live. Then try Siberian Khatru and "Turn of the Century".

When Keith Emerson passed, Rick Wakeman did a tribute. How is that?
Looks like that it's been about a year since you've done anymore from Yes. You haven't even touched anything from their masterpiece albums "Close to the Edge" and "Relayer". Even with "Fragile" you've only done Roundabout. The are so many wonders yet to be discovered.
Yes is very spiritual. Try Southside of the Sky.
you should react to light my fire by the doors its super psychedelic and a tripp
Nicely done dear ^_^.. just found you. I am impressed ^_^ ♥
🥰
Glad to hear you went with "Wonderous Stories". This is my favorite Yes song. As far as the Yesathon, the first two albums have dated recording equipment. Modern playback shows those problems. The greatest show on earth
PS get a new microphone please.
