@@GooseWurkz I really enjoyed it, I had it installed during several HPDE events and it was perfect. It honestly didnt feel like it was a manual rack, however I’m reinstalling P/S since my daughter wants/needs to learn to drive a M/T car. No biggie though.
I've done this to two cars, except I didn't remove the rack piston seal. I just welded the pinion, removed the valve body from the pinion shaft, and put a vent on the return fitting (sealed the other). With most of the fluid drained, there's virtually zero resistance compared to actual tire resistance. Miatas have similar pinions and those guys weld up the pinion the same way. Not doing that leads to a clunking going over bumps/joints and slightly sloppy steering in heavy corners.
Mine's finally back in the car and I have to report it feels great and the resistance is really low! It feels easier then when it had power steering believe it or not.
Nice!! I did the same thing to my Integra about 12 yrs ago.
I’m so happy you are doing it this way and didn’t waste your money on a vent catch can.
Thanks man! Glad to know I’m on the right path :) how do you like your rack?

Glad your taking us through the steps required to have better steering.
We definitely need a video of the cat with its own helmet supervising your first track run. Good work as usual can’t wait to see it sent back
I'll have a talk with my supervisor and see what she says.
