This comedy is not for certain people. Creating roasts for each other is how some people have fun, and for others it feels completely hostile. Instead of judging people for how they joke around just accept that it’s not your preferred style of comedy. That special was not comedy but a confession.
There's been times on Kill Tony when someone makes a gay joke at David's expense, and he gets VERY VERY VERY defensive. It becomes a serious matter, not a joke. There was a time when he was the guest and one of the bucket pulled comedians said something that was fake-flirting with David ... clearly joking ... and David totally went off ... yelling "He was serious!!! He was really askin' me!!! I aint gay!!! I love women!!! I love women!!!"
It was very revealing. Something you'd put in a comedy movie to show that a character is obviously in the closet.

I never really minded how Rogan is terrible at comedy, he just does that, you know he will never get better and it's weirdly admirable how not self aware he can be, doing comedy like some kind of stand up Dan from Street Fighter. But how far he goes to give other terrible comics a place to just be shit at their leisure, that's a problem. Any of these people would do one night at the Apollo, get booed to no end, and work on their material.
