Crash Nitro Kart, one of the better racing games I've played on PS2.
In this video I'm going up against Emperor Velo XXVII, the final boss of the game.
Just like every other boss, he abuses items, but to somewhat lesser extent, I believe.

RIP blue section. I can see why they didn’t work on the anti-gravity sections, but this was probably the coolest part of the course imo.
The blue section could have easily been done in 2d . I guess they wanted to make the track shorter so lap times fit in with the rest of the tracks
Beenox did confirmed that they wanted the tracks in CNK to feel more like CTR like making them not too long and had to shorten some of the tracks down. Something like that
@@StanleySophana ...Which is abosolute bullcrap when you consider at least 3 other tracks from CNK are incredibly long (Electron Ave, Android Alley, Thunder Struck) and CTR has Tiny Arena which is also pretty long

The graphics and sound design in this game were amazing for the time and still hold up
The coliseum always reminded me of the Jimmy Neutron movie.

Velo is a huge pain, because he keep throwing bombs that move too fast to react! To me, he is harder than N. Oxide!
+bbgamer20 he reminds me of all those cops in the U.S who have caused those deaths like the Ferguson killing and others what i mean by that is Velo and the Cops have more power Velo uses those bowling bombs,rockets ETC

That, and his track is way longer so if you lose it takes way longer to make it up
I know Hyper Space Way was too big to have a mini map but I think it’s great for not having it. It gives the sense that you don’t know where Velo is located so even if you’re ahead of him, you can’t be cocky thinking that you won until the race is actually over
I used to always beat velo by throwing a bomb at him just as he goes on the ramp on the final lap
That way he cant do the jump and falls down the pit

I just keep up with velo until the final lap and save a rocket bomb
then when he takes the final ramp shoot him and he falls down the pit because he cant make the jump XDDDD

this guy is NO joke took me lots of tries to beat him luckily there's a shortcut in this long track better find it while you can it's very helpful in this race he cheats more than oxide he attacks you in the front as well but unlike oxide he don't go first need some awesome racing skills to velo I love this game and ctr too

Jose Luis Yes, it did. Or if you want to consider F-Zero's whole upside down gravity racing then you can go as far as N64, I believe. Was wondering when Mario Kart would catch up with any of that, but I guess it only took a decade.

crash copied the whole idea of kart racing with toonish characterrs, items on the road with randomized power ups, weapons etc
But adventure mode is original
@@RockStoneLee19 As a massive CTR fan, no, Diddy Kong racing did it before, hell, the devs of CTR have said that they recreated a map from DKR before starting work on CTR just to test the waters. While CTR is also a Kart racing game like Mario Kart, I have to say CTR is way better, now, CNK on the other hand was dissapointing and absolutely terrible in comparison, probably because Naughty Dog was not involved as you can see that the quality Crash games had went on a downward spiral as soon as Wrath of Cortex came out. (Or Crash Bash, but since it's a spinoff and mini-game based, it was not quite clear). Good thing the remastered trilogy and Nitro Fueled made the original games justice.
I heard that on Mario Kart 8 that the karts and bikes can hover, I wonder if they got the idea from this? XD

Same. I remember being so pissed off because I couldn't beat him. I was always close and this fucker would always do something sneaky. I finally got lucky and dodged his bomb and shot him at the very last ramp. I was super happy until he had me go get the Time Relics. Then I was disappointed.

this velo boss race is so hard that takes you a lot of tries to beat velo
Hopefully crash team racing remastered will be on the way soon. Id love for them to throw nitro kart in as a additional download or even just simply add velo, zem, zam and other nitro kart characters in to team racing as a bonus. Ideally id like to see a whole new kart racing game after team racing remastered.

Great job on that clutch nitro box placement.
This boss was really hard at first, especially before I discovered that he always released his bowling bombs in the exact same places. And before I discovered that he tended to release bowling bombs every time one of your weapons hit him to try and stop you from overtaking him.
That video just gave me a great tip on how to beat him
I remember when I beat this guy, with CoCo, I think. I had to go to school in like 5 minutes, I was rushing. I never really beat the game, because the time relics were so hard to earn. I'm starting to re-do the game and see if older me can beat the game this time.

This was my first PS2 game back in 2005 when i got my PS2 and first time i was able to actually beat Velo (and this game) was in 2013 becouse i didnt know how to power slide 😅 i only pressed R1 and drifted to corner with no power boosting.... When i was able to finally finish this game back then it felt like i won F1 world title xD such an amazing game!
I wish Velo's vehicle when you race him was the same as it was in the cutscene.
Its so anoying when him say 'You gonna get all the time relics then we can speak for no destroy your earth'?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reminded me of this game.
The PS1 was probably on its way out by 2003 (when this game was made).
Two things:
1) This game now apparently looks a lot better than I remembered it, and I had the PS2 version as well :O (give or take the loading times)
and 2) Anyone who can beat Velo is a goddamn beast imo. I could only ever beat him twice (once with each team) and you made it look so easy :D

Ah...Perhaps The Best and Greatest and Infamous Cartoon Racing Boss Battle of Racing History It's Debated but Perhaps He is but One Things for sure He Is DANGEROUS but luckily and Fortunately, He was At Very Old Age and His Time was Soon Coming Up with His two Biggest Achilles Heels the Little Scenic Turns and The End of the track with Him hitting the Lasers. I personally give the Developers A Bravo for Giving A Challenging Final Boss. I Wish We Got to Play As The Robotic Version of Himself. A Great and Fun Game brings back memories ;-)

I hate the fact that none of the bosses or CPU racers drift meaning that I'm the only one that does it, even if they have low power characters they still being faster than me.

What the actual fuck. Velo's heat seaking missiles failed like 8 times in a row! If it was me playing, I would get destroyed with every single one of them!
It makes sense that you're racing Velo in the track that's in his own world. In Crash Team Racing, it seems odd that Oxide Station was in Pinstripe's world instead of Nitrous Oxide's world.

They should Revamp Hyper Spaceway in the next Grand Prix, with Emperor Velo XXVII as the Bronze Tier Reward.

This is the most fucking bullshit boss race ever. Velo speeds up to super sonic speed to keep the preset distance he's programmed for and then his minions hit you with bombs just when you take the lead. Drives me nuts
I would love to see another Crash Bandicoot racing game... with the addition of more characters, such as Nina, Pinstripe, the Elementals, the Evil Twins...

This is one of the hardest bosses in my opinion cause with velo you have to have a perfect race against him as if you fall of the map your lose if you hit a wall you lose if you get hit with any item your lose so basically make one mistake and you might as well just restart the race sometimes I feel like the race against Velo is more cheap than fighting game final boss I can't believe how many times I had to restart the race but at the end I finally beat him so in my opinion if I had to rate The final boss difficulty from 1 to 10 it would be a 7 cause even when you figure out how to beat him all you can do after that is hope that you can when the race and not mess up.

Ahh... I thought you had to do the boosts in Crash team racing to unlock a character. But that's only in CNK. In CTR you have to beat tropy or someone to unlock characters, right? It's my first comment here ist too much time ago ;)

I hate how the Kart is golden on the cutscene but then is purple like the rest of the bosses karts on the actual race, the developers forgot that detail
3:49 WHICH WAY SHOULD I TURN
Protip: 90% of the time that you fall off the very first bridge of the race course and die, you will be placed right at the end point of the first major jump, shaving about 5-7 seconds off of your time. You'll also be placed in automatic first if it's the beginning of the race.

Yeah. For Penta you need to insert a code at the menu. For Oxide you need Gameshark XD
As for Tropy and the others, no you don't need cheats ... Tropy is a bit hard to unlock though, but not impossible :)

This shit was fuckin hard as fuck to beat, I played the UK version of CNK and it was sooo much easier cuz they got rid of all those annoying purple things laying around.
Well I think I don't need them i'm just gonna try to unlock those who are actually possible to unlock.

Yeah, much faster and with better traction. At least that's what I've seen from other videos, I've never used used gameshark to play as him.
@craggyteeth you can play his real form after completing adventure mode 100% and obtaining the scepter with team bandicoot and team cortex.
I beat him with all characters (Crash, Coco, Crunch, Cortex, N. Gin and Tiny) it was intensen even with practice.
