Momma Sed (3 versions), by Puscifer
• Puscifer - "Momma Sed"...
#maynardjameskeenan #puscifer #matmitchell
"Momma Sed," taken from the newly released concert film: “V is for Versatile: A Puscifer Concert Film featuring music from the V is for… era.” The song, originally released on the 2007 album "V is for V***na," and later re-imagined by Dave "Rave" Ogilvie and Colin Janz for the companion remix album ("V is for V***ra"), was recorded at Los Angeles' Sunset Sound. Joining the core Puscifer trio of Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell and Carina Round are Gunnar Olsen (drums), Greg Edwards (bass) and Juliette Commagere (vocals/keyboards).
Tickets for “V is for Versatile: A Puscifer Concert Film featuring music from the V is for… era” and “Parole Violator: A Puscifer Concert Film featuring Conditions of My Parole” are available now via Puscifertv.com, with both concert films available now and remaining on-demand until Nov. 1 at 6:00 am eastern.
Puscifer complete their album-by-album at-home concert-meets-feature film experience with the release of:
“V is for Versatile: A Puscifer Concert Film featuring music from the V is for… era”
Puscifer take you into the famed studios of Los Angeles’ Sunset Sound, where everyone from Led Zeppelin to Tom Waits recorded classic albums. In this live performance piece, the band invites fans behind-the-scenes as they re-interpret and re-record songs from their "V is for…" era. Keep an eye out for Agent Dick Merkin, Major Douche, the briefcase and surprise cameos.
“Parole Violator: A Puscifer Concert Film featuring Conditions of My Parole”
Billy D is in jail, Hildy is on the war path and Peter Merkin, as usual, is up to no good. The saga of the Bergers continues as Puscifer pairs the duo’s ongoing drama with a track-by-track re-imagination of the band’s 2011 album, "Conditions of My Parole." Visually, “Parole Violator” is evocative of Keenan’s North Arizona homestead, with Puscifer’s performance married to striking visuals, dramatic lighting, and in a nod to the band’s 2011/2012 tour, closes with a campfire sing-a-long.

Mother’s Day Series 2023 (3 of 3) Puscifer is of course the wildly inventive, experimental and hilarious personal band and music collective of (the G.O.A.T.) Maynard James Keenan. I wanted to show a bit of that inventiveness by tracing the evolution of one of Puscifer’s songs over 15 years (and this is still a small sampling, as every remix and live performance is different). We start with the original track’s music video, from their 2007 debut studio album “V is for Vag.” Solid title. The second version is from their 2013 live album and concert film “What is…” (named for the band’s slogan “What is Puscifer?”). Note that by this time Carina Round had begun regularly working as second vocalist and occasionally on guitar or banjo. The third version is from one of two concert films released for the 15th anniversary of their first album, 2022’s “V is for Versatile.” Anyway, I think the song is kind of an homage to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and a slight jab at Metallica’s famously sappy “Mama Said.” That’s my impression at least.
Yes, everything, Maynard touches turns to gold ✨️ 👌 💛
Incredible. I’ve heard all 3 versions but not back-to-back-to-back like this. Very impressive musicianship to make the same song so different but flawless
That bass drop in the What Is version just pushes or to the top for me
I saw them live last fall. I didn't expect them to even come close to Tool as far as live performance goes but they blew me away. When maynard was signing Humbling River it might as well have been God singing to me. I'm sure the 🍄helped but still, amazing live show 😂
wow i was clueless
THAT WAS AWESOME!! I have two of those versions, but the live is freaking amazing as well! Thanks for finding that and doing the reaction!!
'Life will pound away where the sun don't shine, son.'
Mat Mitchell knows his stuff.
Holy shit that was good!
You guys are at the top of my reaction sites. Good work!. Your own music is also very good. Is there more?
How am i just now hearing that second version?? And how was the live at club nokia version not one of your three?
Third version, my fav
The sense of "whatever" to choose any version has never made so much sense.
It's so hard to puck a fav, but methinks the 2nd 1 is best
Version 1. Young 20s. Full of attitude. Think you're going to take on the world.
Version 3. Late 30s. You've found your own style and you're experimenting with drugs. You're more complex and layered.
Version 2. You're on your death bed giving advice to your young son. You're full of sorrow and wisdom gained through experience.
There are actually two more versions. There is an electronic version, and lastly, the best version of all…the Live at Nokia Theater version.
all great, but version 3 is God level.
🔥🔥🔥🤘🏼
Only known song that reference a kidney stone. Painful AF.
Yea Maynard and cor sound awesome together and bouncing off of each other ..hypnotic beauty
Loved watching your journey with these very different versions of the same song. Highly recommend reacting to Indigo Children off the new V is for Versatile remix album. It fucking slaps.
Fantastic version!
Silly stupid great👍❤️
Muito legal esse modo de reação! Desculpe não escrever em inglês, assisto vocês a tempos, abraços do Brasil!!
Maynard is something else!
Don’t sleep on pucifer ..they good
🤘
It's PUSSIFER, MAN, not pOOsifer
They are Radd
The Wolf HunterZ need to hear Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath, then Pantera's version!!! I'm gonna end up doing a vocal a capella version. Will let you know
def not a jab at metallica this song is a genuine song. OG and the V for Versatile! The live one is good but not on the same level imo ... Carina and Maynard are like PP&J man they just go together PERFECTLY. I'm in love with Carina she's so beautiful but her voice and stage presence are out of this world .
