Calvin Robinson's Case Against the Woke Church

  • Father Calvin Robinson, a British priest who has gained a significant international following as a fearless and often provocative social commentator, speaks with guest host Justin Brierley about his views on wokeism, gender, sexuality and race. Robinson believes the mainline churches have lost their way conforming to a so-called "woke" agenda that he deems antithetical to the gospel.
Father Calvin Robinson has a regular show on GB News and is very active on Twitter, where he's gained nearly 300,000 followers. Like most conservative British clerics, he wears a clergy collar and he articulates his old-school values in a posh English accent. Unlike most of his colleagues, however, Father Robinson happens to be black and just 37 years of age.
After his ordination in the Church of England was blocked, he was eventually ordained in the Free Church of England. For this episode, Justin Brierley will ask Father Robinson why he believes it’s time for the Church to return to something ancient, deep and liturgical, the church tradition in which he has found a home.

This is great advice. The one's taking part in the spectacle aren't helping anything. Their idea is anyone who shouts the loudest wins. And they say that *the voice of the debil is shouting so we need to shout louder.* compare that with "Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge."
      But no one is perfect!

If you like to listen to him, then you're not a Catholic since he teaches error. Just agreeing with him because he spoke out against the lgbtqia alphabet soup does not make him a truth teller. Even satan can tell you the truth, but I doubt you would follow him, and following a protestant is no different it's just less obvious of his duplicitous nature since he does not have a tail and two horns.

Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except by me. He didn’t have a single thing to say about sacraments and you know it. Not for salvation. You come must through the Door. Jesus is the door. He’s also the key. He’s the son of David. Our confession is that this is indeed, the Messiah, the promised one, the one spoken of in Genesis, the seedof the woman, the son of Abraham, the son of David, the promise fulfilled. Not a word not a single word about sacraments. Read the word and be saved. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. This is the work of God. That you should believe.

    • @peterxuereb9884

@clairstberry5315 Tell me clairstberry5315 were the disciples at the end of this text saved, you know, the ones that walked away from Jesus in John chapter 6
43 Jesus said in reply to them, 'Stop complaining to each other.
44 'No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father who sent me, and I will raise that person up on the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets: They will all be taught by God; everyone who has listened to the Father, and learnt from him, comes to me.
46 Not that anybody has seen the Father, except him who has his being from God: he has seen the Father.
47 In all truth I tell you, everyone who believes has eternal life.
48 I am the bread of life.
      49 Your fathers ate manna in the desert and they are dead;
50 but this is the bread which comes down from heaven, so that a person may eat it and not die.
51 I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world.'
52 Then the Jews started arguing among themselves, 'How can this man give us his flesh to eat?'
53 Jesus replied to them: In all truth I tell you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
54 Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life, and I shall raise that person up on the last day.
55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.
56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in that person.
57 As the living Father sent me and I draw life from the Father, so whoever eats me will also draw life from me.
58 This is the bread which has come down from heaven; it is not like the bread our ancestors ate: they are dead, but anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.
59 This is what he taught at Capernaum in the synagogue.
60 After hearing it, many of his followers said, 'This is intolerable language. How could anyone accept it?'
61 Jesus was aware that his followers were complaining about it and said, 'Does this disturb you?
62 What if you should see the Son of man ascend to where he was before?
63 'It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh has nothing to offer. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
64 'But there are some of you who do not believe.' For Jesus knew from the outset who did not believe and who was to betray him.
65 He went on, 'This is why I told you that no one could come to me except by the gift of the Father.'
66 After this, many of his disciples went away and accompanied him no more.

Obtuse remark. The issue is whether sacraments have ever been pointed out by Jesus as the way to salvation. The answer is “no”. It’s really very simple. Salvation is through faith in Jesus. He who does not have the. Son does not have the Father either .

We have a wisdom crisis and when these individuals discover that they've ruined their lives and they turn to desire wisdom, if the church keeps "reflecting" the culture rather than reflecting "Christ" they won't have any wisdom to offer these souls. All they'll have is more of the same that they have disillusioned by. We have ancient wisdom. We hold and if need be experience what Paul said would happen, "And indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." (2 Tim 3:12) Awesome program!!!!

That's how ALL revivals have always worked. There seems to be an immense revival going on in America right now: I'm watching from South Africa. God moves into places where hearts need to hear the Truth. Calvin is right. You don't need to do modern "advertising", you just need to obey God's Truth.

I found god 6 years ago and I'm due to be baptised into the Catholic faith in August. I chose Catholicism because it is the most honest expression of what I understand to be the word of god I could find and I looked at every denomination I could find. To all of the churches who are trying to do things to 'attract people' - IF you believe in god you will preach the gospel and let the dust settle wherever it may, you will trust in god to keep the faithful loyal through the gospel NOT through your own misguided, faithless actions. ANY church who would stray from the gospel in an attempt to popularise the church does not believe in god and therefore is not a Christian church, it's that simple.
On the topic of people rejecting the heresy and finding Christ - I was about as staunch an Atheist as one could be until I was 25, then I became a scientist... and understood how to be intellectually honest and properly research ideas, I set out to disprove Christianity and like so many before me, upon reviewing the evidence , could not deny the truth - Christ is truth.

you say "ANY church who would stray from the gospel in an attempt to popularise the church does not believe in god and therefore is not a Christian church, it's that simple. " It's not that simple. The RCC has done it many, many times in its history (indigenization and syncretism ) In fact the lower chuch RCC services are basically anglican services now I've been to many. Vatican 2? You could argue as they have done that they never strayed from the Gospel I suppose. The church has had to correct course many, many times.

@@davidsprouse151 that is precisely my argument, if they are engaging in sacred traditions which have been upheld since before the bible was even written or assembled and those traditions do not flagrantly contradict the scripture then sure theres an argument to be had - but when new traditions, not withstanding the test of time outwardly conflict with the teachings of scripture this is when it can no longer be considered to be a christian organisation - Moreover, I don't see evidence that any seriously considered reforms that were made have been to popularise the church, most have been to stay closer to scripture, the written word I'm not aware of any who have reformed to popularise the church.
In fact I would declare blasphemy upon those Christians who utter arrogant phrases like "IF the church wants to attract more people they have to do X" - how dare they prostitute the values of our Lord to the notion of relevance, how dare they suggest that the word of god should conform to childishly egocentric worldviews - this is a sure mark of the corrupted, for these are the words of those who believe themselves so grand they can apply conditions to god, often bordering on blackmail.
      2nd Timothy
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Fr. Robinson is like King Josiah in ancient Israel in that he is likewise pointing out that the church needs to reclaim what was lost by secularization. Did not ancient Israel also lose its way; cave in to surrounding culture; begin to idolize foreign gods; get 'with the times' so to speak? That has always been the challenge, historically, to not give in, but hold fast, cling to the Rock of our Salvation. We know that the world will always be the world. It has made itself the enemy of God. We are to live IN it (for now) but to not be OF it. And the Words of the LORD are crystal clear about this, it is a recurring theme. Every generation must address the same challenge. Fr. Robinson has been and continues to be inspirational as he is holding fast. To be sanctified and holy is to be set apart for God and I wish more self-avowed Christians would read the Bible to understand what the tenets of our faith are. Especially as the Enemy has consistently attempted to silence and outlaw it, defame it or rewrite it. It's wonderful to see someone standing FOR the Word rather than the world. ❤

Watching this for a second time, because it is so excellent....Observations: very good interviewer; another point, I would like to say that I do NOT think you are provocative, Calvin! What is provocative about the truth?! It is people who have issues who are provocative. Having issues means...having ulterior motives. If someone speaks without ulterior motives, rather - with the wholehearted desire to be truthful, then how can that be provocative?! You are CLEAR, very clear actually. Your warmheartedness is obvious. It is like being a parent - you are not a good parent if you condone the actions of a child which are destructive for instance. You might well need to be extremely forthright. Not being 'provocative', does not mean saying : anything goes, there is no difference between right and wrong.
The older I become, the more I realise: the only crucial issue, all the time, for a person is - the choice between good and bad, right and wrong. Considering how crucial that is, how come people disapprove of clarifying that very matter?!! Unbelievable, really. NOT to recognise the prime importance of that...............that is indeed the path to decadence and self-destruction.
This really is a particularly clear interview.

There should be room for debate on non-dogmatic issues (and even on the interpretation of dogma - that's called "theology'"!) This lockstep woke agenda is quite distinct from theological liberalism. There is nothing liberal about its authoritarian woke fundamentalism.

The Church needs to get out on the streets and tell people the bad news of sin and its eternal consequences and the Good News of what Christ has done. In the way that people like Ray Comfort and Living Waters is doing and Billy Graham did in the past. Train its members how to evangelise, preach on the strets, or at least hand out Christian tracts. Train and encourage us, day in and day out, how to tell our friends, our work colleagues. We all need to step up to the plate. The "Church" needs to be doing that. Just like the Jehovah's Witnesses are doing. It was so easy for me to sleep walk in my faith, and until recently that's what I was doing. Well done Calvin for doing your bit. - You asked "Why do you think others experience the world the way you do?". Why do think that I do?
I don't think others experience the world exactly the way I do. That said we all, as far as I know, experience very similar emotions - fear, anger, affection, wonder, guilt, sadness etc.; similar responses to the physical world e.g. pain if we bang into something, sweating if we get hot, needing to sleep when we are tired, hunger when we need to eat, and so on. And, I assume, a similar curiosity about the meaning of life and death, and how to cope with those.
      - You stated "I see a disconnect there". A "disconnect" where? Please explain, I don't understand.
      - You quoted Eric Fromm "The main condition for the achievement of love is the overcoming of one's narcissism. ". How does that relate to the things I wrote? Please explain.

As a believer in Jesus and the Bible, when I share my thoughts about my faith I am trying to influence people and hoping that they will come to believe in those same things. To me that is an act of love, love for others that springs from my experience of God's love for me, and what Jesus did. I believe that the God that created the universe, also created us and loves us. I would be unkind if I didn't share that belief with others and that God through His incarnation into the world came to give us inner peace in this life and an eternal heavenly existence, and the avoidance of an eternal hell after we die. I believe we all, including myself and the best of us, go wrong - we all sin, break God's moral laws. That sin aka wrongdoing needs to be dealt with, in the same way if I break the law by stealing someone's car or money for instance, needs to be dealt with. Justice needs to be done. The price needs to be paid. Jesus paid the price for all our inner and outward wrongdoings - our sins. That is my belief. I guess that narcissism is one of our sins along with all the others. If it is one of mine, thank you for pointing it out.
I respect your and Eric Fromm's beliefs. From what you wrote I don't yet understand them.
We all have a choice and I respect that others may choose differently to me.

@@lovesong252 Brilliant reply, thank you So if you ever wonder what others might be doing viz their own narcissism. I'd ask you to crack the code of *wo es war, soll ich werden.* I didn't mean to say you were narcissitic necessarily. You seem like a righteous dude. So apologies.

@@mafakefoot Thanks. Yes I know that JWs are not Christian. The Evidence Study Bible has a good section on what they believe and how to communicate with JWs. I've read it and I am cautious
