- The 61st in my Retro Goa Explorations series of videos in which I present some of my favourite 'Goa Trance' tracks from the '90s.
In this series, I go back to my first experiences in the Goa Trance electronic dance music movement starting in late 1994, drawing upon my recollections of hearing specific music at certain events and using my classical music background explore the elements that I believe make these tracks so great.
The series is currently focused on music I first encountered in the '96-97 season, starting in September 1996, when I moved to London, and this track comes from a compilation CD that I bought within my first two months there, a masterpiece by one of the most important projects in the formative years of the scene (and since): The Antidote (aka Total Eclipse) and their phenomenal (and very long) track Sunrise. After I share some background about the track, I present my observations about the music while it plays; I then give a few closing comments before presenting the whole production on its own without any commentary.

What a banger. I never knew it was Total Eclipse. Loved this on the TIP Black but I hadn't listened to it in YEARS! All that layering of complex melodies, chords and rhythms is sublime. Fantastic ending. Edit after going for dinner and re-listening. It's one of those tracks that's so complete I don't think it's long enough. Even at 11 minutes. I'd love to have heard what they did with it at their own gatherings with all the unmixed tracks.
Oh god I just realized what was bugging me as I was mentally singing the tune around the house and it kept changing into something else.
