In any case, the active safety and distance control system is the assistant to the driver. But this does not mean that his eyes should not be looking at the road. Thanks for the great video, great as always!))))
what does a truck similar to this but with an manual trans and without the bendix wingman cost? I know prices are insane right now but im starting the beginning of my research to buy a truck in the next few months. So any details are helpful.
I drive a t680 with the bendx. I drives me crazy. It's that bad if you driving to close to snow banks on shoulder of the roadways it lock up your brakes. Not in winter driving. Not the system for me if I was buying a truck.
You mentioned an APU. Where would that be installed and does it run off the main fuel tank? Also will the APU be hooked up to a block warmer for the engine?
It runs of the battery.ac/heat. When you turn on the remote start. It works great.. You can walk away from it for a week.when the battery drain down. The remote starts your truck.
Hi Andy, am in the market for a new truck, i need to make my decision between the 660 and 680, is that true 680 parts are hard to find and very pricy compared to the 660? How about the 880? Is it hard to find a good size sleeper in the 880? Looking for 2017 with cummins.
I have one of these bendix systems in the truck I'm driving now and they are the most annoying useless options I have ever used Cannot use the Cruise control and the alarms drive u nuts
Can you shut the audio off on the Bendix Wingman system yet keep the visual dash warnings? I drive mostly Northeast From NYC to Boston and all New England states(L I, NJ, western NY also). That thing wouldn't stop beeping on my typical run. It would be way too distracting and annoying for Northeast runs. If the driver had a way of shutting off the audio portion I could see the benefit in my area. Of course, for rookie drivers a company might want the audio on but for oldtimer company guys or owner-operators no freakin way. Also, can you get the battery run apus from the factory? Is there a way(from the factory) to clear the lower back wall of the cab to allow a clear area for a tool box without the apu unit or hose/light lines being in the way? I noticed on some KW's they have the APU unit right in the middle of the cab's back wall.
Boy I feel like getting back into driving truck again especially a Kenworth T680 looks real nice and I would like one with a APU and surround cameras for posting on UA-cam!
I hate that system, I drive a Freightliner for a big company. They have the on guard system. I personally think those systems are a major distraction, and faulty.
It’s great until you have the cruise set and it picks up an overpass and sets the brakes. It will also pick up exit ramp speed limit signs and turn off cruise for speeding.
that radar is crap- it makes drivers lazy. that sleeper is crap as well...look at a volvo, western star, or freightliner that has the table option. KW does wonders with the outside shell and the drivers cockpit . in fact i think KW has the best factory seats...but from behind the drivers seat to the back wall in the sleeper is 20th century for driver comfort and lifestyle....hell even that spin out table KW offers cant handle my laptop.....such a shame.... ATTN Paccar : solo driven trucks sit 10 hours a day. most drivers only sleep 5-6 hours a day...that is 4-5 hours of not driving but still with the truck..we need a kitchen table option and better cabinets . look at volvo for ideas . until you get the bunk modernized, i will stay with VNL860. it really pains me to post that. I love the 680 and 880 from the outside.
Oh Yeah Vary Helpful Can The Owner Of the Truck keep Track Of How the Driver Drives His Truck . Why Do Companies Order A Mid Roof For A Van Trailer when it Just Kill's Fuel Cost and Slows the Truck Down. Thanks for This . 🤔🤔🚛🚛🐬🐬🐬🐬😜
Mid roofs aren't made for boxes. They are for tankers and flatbeds that go into areas where you might run under overpasses around 12'6" or higher. Those companies may be running both van and flatbed trailers.
Nice truck
Can the yellow iso/abs 7 pin be added with dump switch for spread axle? and air clutch pto with blower and the full 16 analog gauge package

Keep the sensor clean and they will work fine.
@@AndyTheKenworthGuy thanks for the info.

Jacket door lol
Can I put a aero kit on w990? I want a high truck.
Get a T680. Same interior
Very nice truck!
Thanks Ken!
The Best video ever, hope show more truck test like this
Thanks for watching Nicolas!!
I could not believe how quite the inside of the cab was while he was driving it.
It is very quiet
It has the Mayflower truck scheme going, just need a yellow strip and you ready to sail
I like the look of the mid roof sleeper on the trucks that offer it.. Looks a lot cleaner in my opinion.
Another great truck Andy like the video truck looks great
😎👍🏻

Awesome video as usual, thank you. Nice truck. What is the rear gear and last gear ratio in the trans?
Last trans gear is .77 and truck ratio is 3.25
Thank you, Would that be about the same as a 2:42 with a direct drive?,

Yep, the alarms on bendix systems arr frigging annoying, drives me nuts !! Feel like pushing my truck off a cliff after my shift

Right on!!! Do it!!!
Hey Kenworth Guy, can I fit an APU in between the wheels and the fuel tank with a 232 wheel base tnx man.
Tell me stuff I don’t know 😂🤦🏼♂️ damn rookies
Can you turn that system off and on.
Yes, but not easily. It has to get connected to the computer
Trunk it off and then throw it out if the truck , it's useless
Love the color, that's the color of my dream truck. Beautiful!!
Sweet! Thanks for watching Emilio!
Dark green is my favorite color. That truck looks fabulous. Love it, although I'd want twin 150 tanks.
Why not more disc brakes? Would think better for western Canadian conditions.
Disc can freeze up easier in extreme cold. Cost is pretty high for them too about $3000 and most drivers use the trailer brakes anyways.

Great video, but that audio! What happened to your fluffy mic?
I've upgraded! :)
Like to see brake knobs up top out of way of cup holders. Truck I drive have them down there and do not care for. Beautiful truck otherwise.
We’ve had them there for years.

Bendix wingman (or any radar system) big turn off...
