There's something that has always bugged me. Why did ZAFT make Gundams? It doesn't help that the Legilis isn't such a blatant knock off of the enemy. It bugs me now. And it always bugged me. Was this Patrick Zala's idea of a flex or something?
The Providence is easily my favorite design to come out of seed. The way it looks like a dark reflection of the og Gundam just stuck with me for some reason. Also providence is a kickass name for a gundam

This MS is just a monster of an MS. One of my favorites on Gundam Seed. They could have made this MS a protagonist MS in a spin off series (like building another unit of this MS) and it would have had the appreciation it deserves. In the hands of a hero character like Kira, Athrun, or even Char Aznable (Quattro Bajeena version), The Providence would be a killer mobile suit up there with the Barbatos or the Wing Zero.
sadly the Legend Gundam wasn't seen in its true potential because its pilot was easily distracted, I mean its predecessor almost destroyed the Freedom.

Always believed that the providence was the strongest gundam only behind the strike freedom…easy to forget this thing took on the freedom and justice with the meteor unit at the same time and almost beat full potential kira and athrun…
Don't forget how Seed Destiny ruined the coolness factor of the Dragoon System by not only giving it to so many mobile suits, but also inventing an "Easy mode" that allows non-Newtypes to control them...

Zeta and Double Zeta for instance only had the Quebeleys and Quinn Mantha with Funnels if I recall. Finally, Char's Counter Attack gave Funnels to Amuro, Char and his closest soldiers. Meanwhile Seed had Providence. But then BAM, Destiny gave Dragoons to Chaos Gundam, Akatsuki, Destroy Gundam, Legend Gundam, Strike Freedom. All in a single series.

I kinda like that the Providence looks like a twisted evil version of the grand daddy og, the RX-78-2 Gundam, kinda like th 0 gundam in 00 that was also like a evil version of it.
I honestly don't see the resemblance to the original Gundam. If anything, the Duel Gundam seems closer to RX-78-2, especially with its role as the first Gundam built in the SEED universe.

This is why the Strike and the Duel are so much alike and could hypothetically use each other's backpacks and weapons. The Duel Gundam, if you didnt know your history or background of it, was the basis of which all the other 4 Gundams were based on in the G Project by the Alliance in Gundam Seed. This is why the Duel is more closely related to the Prototype Gundam aka RX-78-1 Gundam than the RX-78-2. In alot of ways, the Strike Noir Gundam could be seen as the G-3 Gundam's counterpart as it is the 3rd one of its kind in the first generation G Series and the last of its kind other than the Strike Rouge. Strike Rouge doesnt count due to the fact that in all tense and purposes, the Strike Rouge is just another X105 Strike Gundam unit. Unlike the Strike Noir and the Duel. This is seen in the episode of GSD when Kira retrieved the Strike Freedom from the Eternal when he piloted the Strike Rouge. The Strike Rouge, while Kira was in the pilot seat, changed its colors from pink and red to red, white, and blue like his X105 Strike from GS. This is due to the fact that ORB built another Strike Gundam (became the Strike Rouge) from the data they gathered during their first visit, in GS, and when they recovered the wreckage of the Strike after Kira and Athrun's battle and repaired it. The Strike Noir's colors are a call back to the Prototype Gundam but like the G-3, it is a vastly upgraded variant of the Strike Gundam with different backpacks and slightly different head and body appearances as well as a stronger version of the Phase Shift Armor that serves as an in-between for the original Phase Shift Armor and the Variable Phase Shift Armor used by the 2nd and 3rd Generation Gundams such as the Freedom, Providence, Legend, and Calamity Gundams. Ah my unpredictable favourite unit, aside from the San Baka unit. Rau with Providence prove that he really a deadly threat for the ultimate coordinator. N although his close-combat range is very limited but how the DRAGOON move make Providence nearly impossible to get near it.
I mean, most suits are going to have some limitations, even the protag suit can at times be limited in certain ways. Consider Barbatos' lack of long range as it got fine tuned and modified for Mikazuku. So having a few tradeoffs can be nice, and quite frankly, that's what other units are supposed to be there for. Screening for beam spam or providing fire support for the CQC suit. And if they don't have backup, yet you manage to honestly close to short range in spite of all that fire, you've earned that kill.
I absolutely hate how ZAFT makes most of the gundams in seed. Like just for their high performance ace units they inexplicably adopt Earth style design and naming conventions. The freedom and justice really should have had monoeyes and then had their heads replaced with the salvaged strike and aegis heads to explain the change. And it makes no goddamned sense for ZAFT to come up with dragoons since they had no experience with remote weapons. If anything the providence gundam should have been a striker pack that Mu used once he got the strike. But it wouldn't be seed if we weren't trying to be zaft as op as possible.

I always knew that the legend gundam felt like it was the exact same as the Providence and I was right because it is basically kind of the same just with a couple of parts that make it different in comparison. The other thing that makes them mostly the same: Both gundams were piloted by a crazy blond-haired man who had to kill jesus yamato although the second version it's just a pointless ring around the rosie because he was a clone of the first blonde crazy guy and shouting that he was Rau Le Creuset........Sigh, oh Cosmic Era you so silly lol. Next you're gonna tell me is there's no in story explanation for why the heck do zaku's exist now apart from we're referencing the UC era again.... Please let there be some story explanation lol. @Tokumastu1 If anything, it might have perfectly reflected how the Amuro/Char rivalry ultimately ended with such a close match-up with Gundam/Zeong and Freedom/Providence, but practically a curbstomp in the hero's favor with Nu/Sazabi and S.Freedom/Legend. Still doesn't change how rather disappointing that fight ended in the latter series.
God I love this machine. Never would've guessed it was originally melee centered. Thought it was just a bit of a heavy weight like the Calamity. I hope they both get a better kit, like these reletively recent Windam.
12:34 CORRECTION! The 'Deuterion Beam Energy Transfer System', was first tested on a ZGMF-X101S ZAKU Splendor, not ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam. Heck, 'ZAKU Splendor' has two energy receivers on its head, that were retained on the ZGMF-X3000Q Providence ZAKU as well, for the very purpose of beam energy transfer.
I hope in the next one of the development history series will be the strike, impulse and destiny, because I think those three are connected in design and history

It just occured to me, Librarian Works managed to acquire the blueprints for the Providence but not the Freedom and Justice, hence there are no Freedom and Justice LW versions.
Seed manages to throw a lot of Gundam designs at the wall and have quite a few of them stick. I don't like the Strike, it's sister suits, the Impulse or the Destiny, but the Freedoms, the Astrays and the Calamity all look cool and interesting. The Providence, however, looks absolutely menacing, helped by the no-nonsense grey colors. It doesn't just look militaristic, it looks like a product of a dystopian and cynical corporate entity. Everything on it just looks brutal, including its hand-held weapons. Would love to have this sort of design back in Gundam. WfM has some interesting things, but it has nothing cool.
One of my favorites in Gundam games. It had a menacing yet support role, funnels out, this Gundam looked like a scout, a heavily armed scout that has a huge ass radar dish on it's back side, so you engage it thinking it's an easy target... Then the funnels come back and you realize you are fucked. The only thing I don't like about it is the fixed shield. I prefer mine with both hands usable. Cause we all know Murphy's law abridged: "shit happens." Even if you are an ace pilot, one of your arms might get shot out, and you need to switch hands. Or you ran out of ammo and need to "borrow" someone else's weaponry. In Gundam Breaker games I typically replace those arms with Strike/Freedom/Justice/Double X/F91, then just give him a shield that has mounted weapons, usually the Jegan missile launchers.
What is a 'quantum communication cable'. Isn't the point of of the QC is that wireless? Reminds of a time at the call center I worked at where a customer told me their printer was plugged in via the 'wireless wire'.
The cables were for housing the communication system. I guess with Providence being modified to use remote weapons they couldnt fit all the extra gear inside the Peovidence
It seems to me that maybe a couple of those cables on the Providence might have been used for coolant, cuz, being nuclear driven, it's going to need to be kept cool and with all that extra bulk, overheating is only going to be exacerbated! Nice seqway, though, by the way! Although, it is nice to see another Mobile Suit use the same kind of system as the Destiny and I now need a Providence, a Legend or both in my Gunpla collection, jus so you know (hey, I've got the Full Mechanics Forbidden, Raider and Calamity, so why not, right? Although, I do still need two more Mk. II TITANS colours and three Doms, cuz you jus have to, so...)!
15:46 did some form of editing software get a crappy update recently? I ask because MANY of my favorite 'Tubers have had several single-frame editing errors in their latest uploads. Like, this-week latest. Not to point out such a minor flaw, this was a best-case error because it's funny, pointy-lady big for a second. Some other folks that have accidentally had themselves speaking mid-sentence showing up for a single frame in their videos during what were essentially powerpoint presentations, it has been really weird.
I kind of wish that we could have seen what the Providence's close combat configuration looked like before Rau was assigned as the pilot and had it reconfigured.

I always knew that the legend gundam felt like it was the exact same as the Providence and I was right because it is basically kind of the same just with a couple of parts that make it different in comparison. The other thing that makes them mostly the same: Both gundams were piloted by a crazy blond-haired man who had to kill jesus yamato although the second version it's just a pointless ring around the rosie because he was a clone of the first blonde crazy guy and shouting that he was Rau Le Creuset........Sigh, oh Cosmic Era you so silly lol. Next you're gonna tell me is there's no in story explanation for why the heck do zaku's exist now apart from we're referencing the UC era again.... Please let there be some story explanation lol. The High Energy Beam Rifle of Legend, is very similar to the V.S.B.R. of the SNRI's Formula Gundams.
I'm hoping for an MG Legend gundam, tho I doubt they will ever release one.
There was actually a scene in the gundam seed manga where the providence small dragoons had a third cannon in the middle
It always frustrates me that the Legend was taken out so easily, but then again that's Seed Destiny for you if Kira is involve no one stands a chance.

@Tokumastu1 If anything, it might have perfectly reflected how the Amuro/Char rivalry ultimately ended with such a close match-up with Gundam/Zeong and Freedom/Providence, but practically a curbstomp in the hero's favor with Nu/Sazabi and S.Freedom/Legend.
Still doesn't change how rather disappointing that fight ended in the latter series.

God I love this machine. Never would've guessed it was originally melee centered. Thought it was just a bit of a heavy weight like the Calamity.

12:34 CORRECTION! The 'Deuterion Beam Energy Transfer System', was first tested on a ZGMF-X101S ZAKU Splendor, not ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam. Heck, 'ZAKU Splendor' has two energy receivers on its head, that were retained on the ZGMF-X3000Q Providence ZAKU as well, for the very purpose of beam energy transfer.
I hope in the next one of the development history series will be the strike, impulse and destiny, because I think those three are connected in design and history

I know Im late but, Nix Providence looks like it has great potential for a custom gunpla build
It just occured to me, Librarian Works managed to acquire the blueprints for the Providence but not the Freedom and Justice, hence there are no Freedom and Justice LW versions.
Seed manages to throw a lot of Gundam designs at the wall and have quite a few of them stick. I don't like the Strike, it's sister suits, the Impulse or the Destiny, but the Freedoms, the Astrays and the Calamity all look cool and interesting.
The Providence, however, looks absolutely menacing, helped by the no-nonsense grey colors. It doesn't just look militaristic, it looks like a product of a dystopian and cynical corporate entity.
Everything on it just looks brutal, including its hand-held weapons. Would love to have this sort of design back in Gundam. WfM has some interesting things, but it has nothing cool.
I don't know, I found some of the montage fight suits from the start of episode 2 to have a utilitarian appeal.
One of my favorites in Gundam games. It had a menacing yet support role, funnels out, this Gundam looked like a scout, a heavily armed scout that has a huge ass radar dish on it's back side, so you engage it thinking it's an easy target... Then the funnels come back and you realize you are fucked.
The only thing I don't like about it is the fixed shield. I prefer mine with both hands usable. Cause we all know Murphy's law abridged: "shit happens." Even if you are an ace pilot, one of your arms might get shot out, and you need to switch hands. Or you ran out of ammo and need to "borrow" someone else's weaponry. In Gundam Breaker games I typically replace those arms with Strike/Freedom/Justice/Double X/F91, then just give him a shield that has mounted weapons, usually the Jegan missile launchers.

What is a 'quantum communication cable'. Isn't the point of of the QC is that wireless? Reminds of a time at the call center I worked at where a customer told me their printer was plugged in via the 'wireless wire'.
The cables were for housing the communication system. I guess with Providence being modified to use remote weapons they couldnt fit all the extra gear inside the Peovidence

I think a model kit for meteor comes with a Providence model as the MS insert? It's been like 15 years so not sure if I'm misremembering.

It seems to me that maybe a couple of those cables on the Providence might have been used for coolant, cuz, being nuclear driven, it's going to need to be kept cool and with all that extra bulk, overheating is only going to be exacerbated! Nice seqway, though, by the way! Although, it is nice to see another Mobile Suit use the same kind of system as the Destiny and I now need a Providence, a Legend or both in my Gunpla collection, jus so you know (hey, I've got the Full Mechanics Forbidden, Raider and Calamity, so why not, right? Although, I do still need two more Mk. II TITANS colours and three Doms, cuz you jus have to, so...)!
15:46 did some form of editing software get a crappy update recently? I ask because MANY of my favorite 'Tubers have had several single-frame editing errors in their latest uploads. Like, this-week latest.
Not to point out such a minor flaw, this was a best-case error because it's funny, pointy-lady big for a second. Some other folks that have accidentally had themselves speaking mid-sentence showing up for a single frame in their videos during what were essentially powerpoint presentations, it has been really weird.
One thing that doesn't make sense in Gundam is the lack of starships.
There are lots of space ships. THey just haven't cracked FTL in any of the settings, but a handful. A couple near light designs though.
I kind of wish that we could have seen what the Providence's close combat configuration looked like before Rau was assigned as the pilot and had it reconfigured.
