I found your first book in my school library and I nearly screamed! I love it so far.
I find it amazing how that black pencil of his always stays so sharp, and yet, it seems like he never sharpens it.

If you do use an rubber (eraser) use a putty rubber, can be found in most art shops.

@10blonde11 a simple HB and a soft thick one for shading and darkening lines.
it's pure skill. not anyone can draw like that. you hav to get the correct angles aswell.. i can have a drawing competition with this guy but he'll win. im almost at his level
i just imagine everytime he says at the end "real soon" he has this smile on his face

what kind of pencil do you use, and how do you draw cloths, trees, and background stuff like buildings, and grass and foliage?
Took me a while to draw the figures just so I could start the mouth tutorials. otherwise it'd be kinda goofy to have floating mouths on paper. lol.

Do you have a Michael's arts and crafts store?
If so, the pencil is Prismacolor colored pencil black.
What kind of black colored pencil do you use? I know kinda random but I just noticed that you're lines get very dark without it seeming like you're putting much pressure on the pencil. My lead always snaps when I try to draw darker.

--ink: MICRON PIGMA O8
--flesh tone marker: PANTONE 162-T (TRIA)
--watercolor: WINSOR & NEWTON, GRUMBACHER
--paper: STRATHMORE SMOOTH BRISTOL

Mark, may I ask which grade of pencil you are using? Or which type? And if you mess up ever..Which I have never seen (lol) What type of eraser do you use? Putty or regular? Thanks..
@sunburst3434 his colored pencils are prisma colors which you can get at any art store and his pencils are just at random realy
