Thank you so much, ive always wanted to make my own story, my brain explodes of thoughts and imagination. So i talked about it to mom, she said I should draw these images i see to empty my brain. So starting my own manga is a great start!
I’ve been trying to make a manga ever since the 7th grade (now in the 9th) and after many stories that never went anywhere. From one shot to long running stories. I found one that I really like and care about. Your channel has been very inspirational and a help thanks for creating this channel and keep up the amazing work
I’ve been drawing since I was really young and went back to my dream as a manga artist after years of being a nurse. This really helps a lot. Thank you.❤
People should stop saying "I can't" then learn to say " I will" I will make manga I will storyboard I will make an exciting story I will have an anime adaptation.
10:00 This question needs more context. In my opinion, without context, it depends on which is the focus character here, if the man was seen first, it would be implied the man is very unlucky. On the other hand, if the boy was seen first, it would be implied the boy is irresponsible. It could be both A or B depending on what message you want to convey in this panel.
Im only half way through this Video but already feel overwhelmed and the pressure…no wonder many of us out there get scared Even before getting started and keep on dreaming. I guess im just not cut out for this to make it Professional, guess im just gonna go on drawing for myself then 🫠 My Respect for all of you out there who are willing to make the commitment!! ❤
We all get scared and pressured when trying to start out. I can't count how many times I felt like giving up because I felt like I got nowhere and kept drafting on different stories. However, the endurance you maintain while feeling this way will lead you to go beyond and reach the pro ledges. Hope this helps, cuz I'm doing the same to go pro.
Super helpful to get a good overview on the stages! I'm planning to draw a story in the future and currently redrawing my characters from all angles. It's difficult to find a design that's easy to replicate in the drawing process that still looks interesting. Also a very good idea to test myself with drawing one part of the story on a limited set of pages! Will definitely try it before actually starting to draw! Thank you for sharing all the information!
Sure! Our PRO Mangaka Mentors Rena Saiya and Nao Yazawa recommend putting your character design right in front of you when you draw them again. It helps you stay consistent drawing your character again.
I've wanted to create an original story for a long time now and I think manga is the way I want to tell it. Thank you for describing the process. All of these tips are very helpful!
10:06 using a page from One, one of the best mangakas out there that is one of the best on doing the oage designs as an exemple make it looks like the entire thing is bad, even though is one of the best mangas to read (it's just a bit ugly, but is flows really good)

They are good enough that if I never get to publish it, or it fails to sell, my kids will at least have some cool hand drawn comics to read. I'm working hard and praying that it'll be good enough someday. This video may have laid on the pressure but I refuse to let 28 years of drawing go to waste. Someone will enjoy this story. Thank you for the inspiration to push on despite my own doubts.

On paper, I knew a good chunk of this. Like the hundreds of people who’ve watched this video, I too would like to publish a manga one shot at least in my life. But watching it and actually sitting down with the mentality of “ok, what am I missing?” And god I am still a very very long way to go- To begin with, I did have a genre: magical girl/mahou shoujo. The thing is, nowadays most magical girls are either they’re directly targeted towards very young children or are that dark. And I want a mix of both: the casual kinda slice of life but also showcasing growth of characters while mixing very dark stuff. At least, the rest is already settled in the writing aspect, I guess it’s mostly what I focused myself on. The rest… blank. I managed to make a one shot for a 5 max page story, fully written. Since you draw digitally, when you get off canvas, you can try to select your drawing and resize it / move it around to get if to fit. You could also do a very rough stickman like sketch and place/resize it on your canvas before your proper drawing, to know how big it needs to be (since resizing a drawing after its done like the first option I gave you can give you trouble with line width consistency and details when drawing the rest of the body). Keep up ! I you want to make manga eventually, I advise you to start with a 4 or 5 page story, contrary to the 16pages recomended it this video. Yeah the same goes to other manga cretors like the creator of attack on titan end if you still have a problem with drawing dont give up you can still learn how to draw or find an ilustraitor to draw for you there are many was to fix that problem end giving up is not the best choice
Well,In bangladesh we read from left to right. Thus comic as well, thats why storyboard b seemed natural for me.And also Iam gonna try the left to right as we bangladeshi tend to read from left to right.
i wanna make a manga soooo bad. I can draw its just the fact that i have a hard time drawing it to fit in a comic strip and make it fit. i like to have room when i draw.
I really want to start my own manga series. Something good enough to be on par with popular series like DragonBall, naruto, one piece, and jujutsu kaisen. Only thing is that im a bit iffy about moving to japan, its a completely new county, and i know 0 japanese.
iam trying to make an anime too :) i have a discord server with people (that can draw, voice and others things for anime) do you want to join the server ? for you can draw or make the story or do anything you want for the anime
That’s the thing, you don’t put all of that in just 1 chapter. The goal of making your first manga is taking a piece of that big story you have and highlighting the best parts. You can learn more of that here: ua-cam.com/video/gQLZMmrXz9M/v-deo.html
@aphlearntodrawmanga thanks that does make a lot of sense but does that mean i should scrap the probably at least 20 chapters worth of lore , origin stories and character arcs that can't fit in a one shot?I'm not sure what to do with all of that stuff.
I am delusional I am just doing whatever for a long run story but like it’s a one person team so it will take ages 😂 like a Netflix seasonal stuff and I just aim for my local book market since comic isn’t an industry here on panama it doesn’t have to be perfect or compete to industry level manga I just want to create and be happy I have a stem career to apply to “office job” anyways 🤣
What about when one can't draw? I think my writting skills are solid enough for starting out, but i cant draw no matter how hard i try. I've tried taking courses and training every other or so since 2012, almost no progress at all
Oh, it sounds like you’ve been struggling for years… 😢 I’d actually suggest hopping on a FREE manga consultation so we can get to the bottom of this. Have you already booked a call?
random set up: art liner, pencil, sharpener, eraser better set up 🤓:dip pen, ink, that random blue pencil that eraser forgot the name lol, led for blue pencil
I have drawn my own comics/mangas since 5 year old since i have always had very creative mind, the problem was always my art skills, but now i feel like i could make pretty good manga, but i would need someone to puplich it for me since im 13 XD
iam trying to make an anime too :) i have a discord server with people (that can draw, voice and others things for anime) do you want to join the server ? for you can draw or make the story or do anything you want for the anime
Maybe. There are already a lot of tutorials on how to use tablets and do digital art though. As long as you can apply the fundamentals to your digital art like basic drawing, lineart weight, etc, you’re good. :)

You could check out some entries from Silent Manga Audition and other manga contest entries to get an idea. :)
13:07 crazy how that all gets burned away in an anime I couldn’t do it😭
i wanna make a manga soooo bad. I can draw its just the fact that i have a hard time drawing it to fit in a comic strip and make it fit. i like to have room when i draw.
Me who has been inking with micron and copic markers for years ....I had no idea that i was so, so, wrong lol.
The problem with the oneshot is there isn't a clear to how extent of thee story should we reveal which will attract people and not spoil the storyy
hello
do you know where could i buy some screentones with limited budget?
i heard they are expensive
Where are you located? It depends on where you live.
poland (central europe)@@aphlearntodrawmanga
@@aphlearntodrawmanga I second.
so i am creating an manga like one piece i cant answer the question when
I really want to start my own manga series.
4:32 just to let you know, Skip and Loafer is a seinen.
Otherwise, good video.
But where to upload the manga after you done with it? How to share it with people?
I chose B because I read from left to right
Yeah I got the answer
Yay! That’s awesome! 👏
I honestly don't see how I can put an origin story , a whole character story arc and an meaningful ending in a 15 page one shot
That’s the thing, you don’t put all of that in just 1 chapter.
The goal of making your first manga is taking a piece of that big story you have and highlighting the best parts.
You can learn more of that here:
ua-cam.com/video/gQLZMmrXz9M/v-deo.html
@aphlearntodrawmanga thanks that does make a lot of sense but does that mean i should scrap the probably at least 20 chapters worth of lore , origin stories and character arcs that can't fit in a one shot?I'm not sure what to do with all of that stuff.
@@Rustytoast256GOJIDon't scrap it. Just treat the one shot like a demo or small snippet from your larger story. Like a little side story.
@@genera1013 ok thanks
@@genera1013 how do I know what parts to use though
I am delusional I am just doing whatever for a long run story but like it’s a one person team so it will take ages 😂 like a Netflix seasonal stuff and I just aim for my local book market since comic isn’t an industry here on panama it doesn’t have to be perfect or compete to industry level manga I just want to create and be happy I have a stem career to apply to “office job” anyways 🤣
10:07 not the hate on mob psycho 100
What about when one can't draw? I think my writting skills are solid enough for starting out, but i cant draw no matter how hard i try.
I've tried taking courses and training every other or so since 2012, almost no progress at all
Oh, it sounds like you’ve been struggling for years… 😢
I’d actually suggest hopping on a FREE manga consultation so we can get to the bottom of this.
Have you already booked a call?
working on a one-shot for SMA at the moment, wish me luck lol
Fu
10:35 mob psycho 100 is one of the best animes tho
random set up: art liner, pencil, sharpener, eraser
better set up 🤓:dip pen, ink, that random blue pencil that eraser forgot the name lol, led for blue pencil
What pen do you use to make black clothes and hair since a lot of ink will be wasted
Brush pens,g pens or dip pens
@@Bananalord56783if u use dip pens a lot of ink will be wasted
12:04 it’s the promised neverland! Right? Right!
It definitely is!!
Will you be covering the digital aspect?
What do you mean? What digital aspect are you talking about?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga Such as making the manga using digital methods in place of traditional.
Maybe. There are already a lot of tutorials on how to use tablets and do digital art though.
As long as you can apply the fundamentals to your digital art like basic drawing, lineart weight, etc, you’re good. :)
What is meeting if I did sign in
Right answer A yup
Great video is was there for the stream and I also want to create a manga but for now I’m focusing on the fundamentals of drawing
Thank you so much for watching our content! Sounds like you have a game plan.
What kind of drawing fundamentals are you working on now?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga right now I am working on anatomy but it is pretty difficult will guys make on that I think it could help a lot of people
Can you start with making a normal manga and not a one-shot manga
I want to make a manga but I am only 12 and have no one to help with me so is it possible for me to do it alone
Can i pls use your some sketch i can give them a makeover
I don’t need tropes, they’ve been growing to be lame. I’ll make my own tropes.
On my 20 pages it says how it all happened
I've been drawing since first grade ,i just want my story to be known as a South African
Hi I'm 13 I want to create my own manga and I am in J.H.S3 so I am interesting in this studies
Does this video also apply to manwha’s?
May we ask why you’re asking about manhwas?
Don’t diss on Mob Psycho 100 like that!!! 😭
Is it necessary to write the dialogues in Japanese for Kyoto international creators award please tell me
Can manga be a story then some drawings at the bottem each page?
nah
There are some visual novels that are like that. It's not manga, but it's still a visual medium.
I want the zoom link ........i want to do my manga and i want some tips
What Zoom link are you referring to?
What if one wants to draw in different demographics?
What do you mean?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga like a manga for both josei and Shoujo. Doesn’t that happen? Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable.
Instead of a 16 page one shot, can i cretae a 50 page one shot? I saw the top winner of the Kodansha competition and their one shot is 50 pages.
Have you ever made your own manga before?
yo i am from india

Whose drawing was it that was used as the thumbnail?
This is Yazawa-sensei’s art. Why?
