  • I don't want to get too ahead of myself over here, but skating on these big wheels are giving me major vibes of when I first got back into aggressive skating. I can't get enough of it!
    I spent 6+ hours over the span of 3 different days skating the campus and getting to know the skates a bit and really enjoying the speed and control they offer.
    I'll be doing a full review on them once I put some more work into them, but for now I am straight up having a good time.
    Hope y'all are doing well out there
    Anywho, STAY SAFE!

    Loving this series bud! Can’t wait for the full review. I’m loving the set up so far. A couple weeks in to breaking in the skates, hrydrogen wheels glide like a dream. I’ve already done 13 miles on them with out even realizing. Mind you these are my first skates in YEARS. Following you over from reddit! Great channel bro 👍🏼

      You’ve got this same setup?! SO MUCH FUN! I came home each day from being out 2+ hours and my girlfriend was like ‘you haven’t been out skating for that long in a long time...’. I just don’t wanna take em off! Haha
      What type of areas are you skating? Mainly urban or are you hitting trails with them?
      Thanks for following man, I appreciate it! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

      Matt Burke i feel the same way man i just wanna skate. I’m down in south Florida so you know skating around the neighborhood, there’s trails almost everywhere, and i even got a skatepark close by that i can’t wait to go to once things start to open again.

      Man, I can NOT agree with Nick anymore than I do. This setup is so fun it’s kind of unfair haha.

      If you’re able to get them, I really can’t recommend them strongly enough. I’ve been having more fun skating with them than I have in a while!
      I appreciate you checking out the video! ✊🏼

    that ledge at 01:37 is grinder heaven, same for 01:47. i see at 02:01 that the ledge is already waxed for you!!! great video, that place looks amazing!! big wheels open a bunch of opportunities, you can do a lot of tricks with those without an aggressive setup (makio, mizou, p-star, you can also mixed those with mollie jumps rather than traditional hoping)

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 роки тому

      There are a FEW ledges that are skateable, but a LOT of them are either capped or just destroyed from previous skaters haha. I definitely plan to go back with my Mints, though! Such a sick spot.
      I'm still getting comfortable with the speed and everything on the big wheels, but I'm definitely excited to try some grinds in the future! Got my eye on a few shorter rails ahah

    Good to see you out street skating! UF is literally my favorite place to skate in the world. I’ve only been to FSU a few times but it’s also pretty damn fun

    That dramatic reenactment 😂🤣. Great video. I'm glad you influenced me to get a pair of big wheels. They are a blast! Planning on heat molding mine today. 👌🏼 I couldn't agree with you more about looking at obstacles in a whole new light. As always, looking forward to the next one!

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 роки тому +1

      Super believable reenactment, right?! Just flawless. 🤣🤣
      These big wheels are such a game changer! Every ledge and sidewalk becomes something mess around with, whereas on an anti rocker setup, I’d never be able to get the speed to do half of the thing I do on the big wheels. So rad to have all that opportunity.
      Stoked to hear what you think after heat molding them! My liners fit me like a glove at this point and it’s made skating so much more comfortable and fun hah

    Man. That looks HELLA FUN! I love the way you filmed it too...felt like I was skating with you. I love my 4x90s too...such a fun feeling just cruising with lots of speed.

      Honestly, it’s the most fun I’ve had on skates in a long time! I’m about to head out to a different area of town now to shred around.
      The goal of the video was to be a bit more immersive, glad you felt that! ✊🏼
      Hope everything is going well with you over there! Killin those royales lately!

    I think you might like the Aeon A 80 skates. They are great and fast for skating city and also have the parts for grinding and sliding the skate park.

  • @Robocrap

    Great to see an aggressive skater trying out freeskating. I think the best skating is when you mix it up and don't just doing one type of skating. 🙂

    Totally jealous. Last week some trash-spawn vandalized the local high school, so *all* the schools in the area are locked down even harder. Almost completely fenced off. I'd been using a spot at the middle school nearby my house to setup my pandemic p-rail, but now that option isn't there for me anymore. We in NorCal took shit srsly from the get-go, so the local Junior College has been blocked off for 6 weeks now, which sucks because the even just parking lot would be perfect right now...
    Haven't been to the skatepark since the fuzz kicked me out of it a month ago. That was just more motivation to finish my p-rail.

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 роки тому +1

      Leave it up to the idiots to ruin, well... everything hah.
      I’ve seen California has been pretty strict on things, and that’s definitely a good thing for your health, you guys must really be going wild out there.
      Hopefully this all ends soon so we can stuff the p-rails away and comfortable skate around again!

    If you keep getting pressure point on one side you can also play a bit with frame mount. Move it left or right to relieve the pressure. Looking great on these skates! My 4x90 frames have arrived, just waiting for the rain to go away :)

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 роки тому

      The pressure point seems to be where the cuff attaches to the boot... the blister hadn't totally healed, so I'm also wondering if that had anything to do with it! Gonna wait til it heals up before I tinker around haha.
      What 4x90 frames did you get?! SO much fun!

      @@MattBurke820 thanks 1. I will have to calm down when they arrive 😂 i'm so happy that i saved enough money 2. will be heat molding 3. I will have get use to 273mm frames before i was on 220mm frames 70mm wheels and 4. Try 100mm wheels, i ordered them with the skates. I can't wait any longer😂

    How did your blister/pain problem go on? I'm really facing the same issues. I got a pair of Next100 5-6 weeks ago, and still after heat molding the skate hurts my ankles like sooooo bad! The pain is real. I'm at a point that I am super frustrated because skating the big wheels is so much fun, but this just takes away a lot of positive experience. Would be interesting to see if the heat molding made a solution for you. Cool videos, keep em coming!

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 роки тому

      My blister is still there, but after heat molding, I ALSO put in a Dr Scholls insole because I’m pretty sure it was an edge of the MyFit insole that caused my blister in the first place, unfortunately.
      Since swapping out the insoles, the blister/pain area has gotten a LOT better. Still hasn’t healed because I keep going skating and tearing it back open, but the heat mold and swapping of insoles helped a TON. Hopefully it’ll work for you as well!
      Thanks for checking out the videos! 🙏🏼

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 роки тому +1

      I haven’t gotten into any sprinting or racing type skating, I’ve just been jumping off everything I can hah. I plan to do something speed related soon, though!
      You’re going to love these skates! My first recommendation would be to ABSOLUTELY heat mold the liners before you use them. Total difference
