Nice man, genuinely good hearted, self checking and humble in the best possible way. No wonder we love him. We also appreciate his beautiful quirky mind, full of wacky doodle! Such a unique gift to share with others, thank you kind sir!
Hugh and Stephen are what we call in England ‘national treasures’. Hugh Laurie it’s simply one of most gifted actors and comedians ever and one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.
I heard an actor say that "watching yourself act induces the same feeling as when you hear your own voice on a recording. It's horribly awful and embarrassing".
Happy to see his injection of Latin in talking about testing at 8:47 -- "Quis custodiet" shortened from "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" -- Who will watch the watchmen?
Yeah, he's all those things for sure. I have been a huge fan of his since getting into 'A Bit of Fry & Laurie' a little over a decade ago. I've been watching it ever since even though there's only 26 episodes. His book was fantastic, too!
I learned the underlying lesson as a child. Mum had gone down to the shops and I had a friend around to play and we thought we'd knock something up for a snack. We knew we liked cake but we didn't know how to start the oven so we grabbed a pie pan and put it on a lit gas ring and filled it up with everything that seemed as if it would go in a cake. Except anything we didn't like eating in isolation, such as raw flour and eggs. These we scrupulously left out, in our relentless pursuit of the perfect cake. Our attention span now being entirely used up we went back out to play and Mum got home just in time to witness the steel of the pie tin transitioning from orange to yellow heat.
I remember watching him having dinner in a fancy Beverly Hills restaurant with, I think, his wife. Paparazzi were gathered outside and he gave the impression he didn't notice them at all, though he must have been. It was the most expensive restaurant I'd ever been too, though I was another person's guest.
The world would be a better place if presenters, when interviewing Laurie, would a) let him do more talking and b) stop trying to be funny. She does an OK job at both, but the HTT (Hugh Talking Time) should still be more - and uninterrupted.
3:36 It is less annoying to think less of yourself than others think of you than to think more of yourself than others think of you. Humility can be a hinderance if it becomes too extreme but it doesn't seem to have hindered Hugh. Ego, on the other hand, is unforgiveable. Of course it takes capability to consistently accomplish things but there is no accomplishment that can be attained without having opportunity which is beyond one's own control so real valid pride in one's self should only be attained by the knowledge that one's motivations are what one wants them to be. Don't feel bad about being humble Hugh, it's a good thing.

Hugh Laurie is an introvert playing an extravert
Brilliant in the American series House, but really loved Bertie Wooster, with Stephen Fry as Jeeves.
What a pleasure listening to him. Thoughtful, intelligent and well spoken.

He's so captivating that's why people watch him@
I’m relieved he’s free of a cane in real life

Hugh is a great actor, musician and intelligent guy. I am truly a fan
I didn't know he was a musician.
Cheers.
@@shmookinscheck out "mystery" from his fry and laurie days.😂
@@Isthatyoudermot looool.
And I just saw another one with a guitar called "Kickin' Ass".
@shmookins "protest song" from fry and laurie and "America" . Absolute legend
He often played in House@@shmookins
Marirlla does have a beautiful voice.
Big fan from india. Fantastic actor.
I rarely have time for celebs, especially achtooors, but Hugh is a genuinely likeable, intelligent and interesting person.

8:46 Very important point about testing everything except testing. Story of much of my last 15 years of work till I retired - very frustrating

Fry and Laurie were in the pattern of John Cleese and Graham Chapman, all clever and the tallest ones admit to their hypocrisy

A lot of actors don’t like watching themselves
Such as Johnny Depp.
A lot more love it
4:30 - Buckingham palace

I just read yesterday how Charles Bronson would never watch himself in a movie. He hated it.
No mention of "The Night Manager"?
He was great in that - nasty baddy
Does Hugh not like watching himself mean he hasn’t ever watched Blackadder? If so he has been deprived.
"Of course you have such a beautiful voice..."
Pardon?
"attaching it""losing it again""rere-attach..."
I cant stand hearing my own voice.
Who is Hugh's interviewer?
I believe it's Mariella Frostrup.
Johnny Depp doesn't watch himself in his movies either.
I wish I was his friend 😕
Alright... I think I should stop beating myself up. I am not the only one who can't listen to his own voice recording and etc...
Why is it i come upon these things after 2 years...Have i been swallowed by a black hole?
Has Ms. Frostrup had work done 🤔…..or is it her hair …..🧐🤨
She sorta looks and sounds like Jessie Buckley.
"I'm all buildup, yeah, and one of these days..."
Fin.
If deliberate, very clever.
😄
Most Americans aren't privy to British hummer and it's intricacy's.
I got a hummer from a Brit once, and although nice, it wasn't particularly intricate
And we arnt up our own ass about it at all
Yes, it has to be funny to be called humor ;)
How intricate can fellatio be?
humor
Damn he's awesome.
