I have observed that neo sometimes from nowhere speeds up and do crazy things. Even with today's update, latest update. I have also observed that always that this crazy behavior occurs it tends to make some weirdy sound with propellers before getting mad. Because of this I will buy care refresh and think twice before getting close to water.
@@MengFooChoo2 that's not fair. For some reason some neos tend to be like crazy guys. They are OK and suddenly they get crazy and do whatever they like. A maniac episode.
The Neo behaves exactly like my first drone over water and in low light: poorly and prone to weird crashes. It was the Tello (advertised by Ryze as powered by DJI, anyone remembers?). Never seen a Neo but seems they are both equipped with a crappy downward sensor.
You're not wrong. I haven't tested over water (and I won't), but I know that it doesn't do well in ANY kind of low light. Flying with the goggles and MC3, two times when I flew indoors into slightly darker areas it SHOT forward at full speed. Once into my sliding glass doors and once into a wall. Almost the same behavior as in this video. Not a warning, not a slow, self-landing as I would have expected, but an uncontrollable full-forward launch. I'm a little bummed as it would have been fun to be able to fly indoors in "less than perfect" lighting, but the Neo is still fun as hell for flying FPV with the goggles outdoors. I've even started flying manual mode with it and that's SUPER addictive. For $200, it's a pretty amazing machine.
The same thing happened to my Neo, but i wasnt flying over water. I dont know what happened. Can someone help me? When i looked to the screen after the crash it showed just 1 gps
Same happened to my first Neo. It got confused hovering above Lake Davos and it drowned. DJI mentions somewhere that it should not be flown above water as the water reflection confuses the sensors.
Where did the Dji mentioned that? Only learn that after I lost the drone that flying above water was dangerous. They flew over water in their promotional video. Sigh. So how did you recover it? Or got something from Dji?
You hinted at getting another Neo, did you? I like the jogging with Neo and I bought another too. Light and not danger to others when I use it in the garden. ua-cam.com/video/YPfMxWje5k0/v-deo.htmlsi=RhhTmJmKmZj0arAu
@@MengFooChoo2 I made a dive into Lake Davos to recover it but failed to retrieve it. It was hilarious but I accepted my loss. That's strange. What happend exactly ? Do you know now why the speed increased incontrollably ? Also, do you fly FPV with goggles or do you fly with RC ? 👍
yes i fly with goggle 3 and motion control. i believe is the low flying over water and flying too slow allowing the air to reflect upwards and confuse the sensors. Perhaps also the reflections. So dont fly too low over water.
I did a dronie shot over a swimming pool. Going out it was fine, but as it was coming back, it suddenly dipped and brushed the water and drowned. Only after did I learn that it is not recommended to fly low above water
Ok, this little Neo is tough, tried flying it last night to take pics of the aurora borealis, the drone took off in the dark, manual mode it immediately started to drift to the left, hit a branch and fell into my pond. Lights went out, drone sank to the bottom for 2 minutes while I hunted for my glass light. Got it out of the water, shook it violently until all water came out, battery was full. Dropped in rice for the nite, then 2hrs overvwarm vent. Tried turning it on , battery lite worked bit immediately went off. Took it apart (t4) used air can to dry damp Ness. Tried it a couple of hours later and it works perfectly. No water in lense ...so happnote inside there is a cable that connects top to bottom, be careful it needs to slide back down the side of the drone to close
HOW TO strip it apart, I took out the screw on the body and still cannot open the body. Can tell me how? I hope to dry the inside and see if it still can fly. By the way I like the lightness of the drone and the sound of it compared to other drones so I bought another one to fly it with the FPV and the motion controller.
@@johntunstall4835 Yes I took that out and still cannot pry it open and I dare not break it. After the screw how to remove the back? Which direction to go?

did not fast forward. It has error. Same speed I just cut and paste into a simple video apps. It fasten up suddenly, and got out of control even flew backward.
I don't take my neo very far it seems to take off on its own and just flys away with no water in sight. It has done it several times just speeds away with no purpose.

@MengFooChoo2 maybe it's a firmware thing and they will get it lined out with updates. It's crazy though will just be hovering in one place they just play away like it has its own mind...this has only happened though while just hovering over it's square landing pad twice now. I havnt taken it out lately kinda worried it's just gonna take a trip through the neighborhood and thru someone's windo...
@@thomasschutz3254 I had used the FPV and motion controller and brought it above the crown of trees to observe the Heron. It was amazing. I flew on trees crown too. The best yet is to observe the jungle Fowl which are abundant in Singapore.
Fun tale but is it just a story. The video is speeded up when you say the drone speeded up. You can tell because telemetry updates (the changing numbers) and ripple in water get quicker. Also, the video cuts out before it hit the water + "Motors Stopped" message is a different shade of grey to the other messages so is probably added in post. There is a flash frame of the message saying "Motors Starting press and hold..." just before that. Anyway, fun but a bit click-baity.

I believe is the water and also the tight space when the air bounced upwards and affected the drone. Although small but light too.
