Amazing explanation. Each time I watch a BRS video, it's like the video was made just for me. By that I mean that, it answers all the questions I had previously in mind in just a short period of time. Checking other instructional videos I need to watch several and from different authors for starting to understand a subject, god, it's a huge waste of time. You're so professional people, you're amazing.
Approach to excellent explanation , just high pressure /low pressure sides description of SOV should be mentioned to cover whole idea of process . Thanks a lot
Thanks for good tips. I have 2 ro systems. On one system the ASOV opens almost immidiately when a cup of water is drawn from tank and we love this way. On the other system, ASOV doesn't open until about 1 gal of water is drawn from ro faucet. We don't like this way because the output pressure is weak for a long period of time. Please let me know what is the normal on/off behavior of ASOV. Thanks in advance
Great video,I have a question.I have installed a new auto shut off valve and float switch. My problem is my auto shut off valve isn't working. The pressure continues to build up and squirts water from my float valve.
I have a 5 stage with pump. Bladder p.s.i with drained tank 10 .Run system for 6 hours and bladder p.s.i 15. Poor symptoms 1) Pump on continuous and draining continuous Could the cause be a problem with 1 Pump or 2 Membrane filter (it was replaced 4 months ago. AMSO valve installed (after pump -before carbon filter). Signaled as per your video Trust you can assist
Hey guys. I purchased 150 GPD 11-9-12. IT has been doing well for me. However just today I noticed that there was a pretty steady drip comming from the waste water hose even though my pure water output hoses were shut off. Why could this be? Not enough pressure maybe?
what happens If I install this without the check valve? I own the 4 stage PLUS and it came with a shut off valve. If I only add a float switch will it work? or do I need to order a one way check valve as well?
I’ve one like this, and for some time it worked fine. Then one day I changed the filters and now it vibrates very strongly. Does anyone know why is this? Is it broken or is it a bad installation?
Hi , thanks for the videos ! Have a question . Im trying to fill a 40 gallon holding tank that is NOT pressurized for my Aquariums . I also would like to make ice in fridge in my garage . From where the RO system is on the wall in the garage i have to go past the Fridge first before getting to the 40 gallon tank . For the 40 Gallon tank i am using a Float shut off valve . My questions are 1) Will i need to use the 4 Gallon pressurized bladder tank to do this ? Im not really to concerned about the length of time needed to fill the 40 gallon tank if it takes 2 days thats fine . Id rather avoid using the bulky 4 Gallon tank to accomplish the 40 Gallon and ice 2) If i Tee off the line going to 40 gallon tank , will the ice maker make ice off the Tee ? Once the float turns off the water im concerned the ice maker will not work ? Any help would greatly be appreciated since i am unable to get a clear answer , you guys seem to know your shit !
Hmm...I don't think that would work. These auto shut off valves use very small diameter tubing and rely on pressure, which plumbing on sumps don't have.
These shut off valves are specifically designed for water filtration units with 1/4"inch tubing connections and designed to operate in pressurized environments just like a kitchen or bathroom faucet. They only work when the "faucet" is turned OFF and back pressure in the lines force the valve to close. The mechanics, fitting sizes and application of the ASOV are far different than your average aquarium and are not very useful outside of water filtration.
Ok thank for the quick reply..when the auto top off is triggered my Pressure gauge goes from 60psi to 80psi when the auto top off is triggered is that normal
My ro system is all internal between each filter and only has 4 lines outside, they are input, output, storage tank, and waste water. I purchased this system and and add on di canister. What's the best way to install it?
Yes I figured that part out. Just trying to figure out correct way to install aso. Would low pressure side go from the ro output to di input, and the high pressure would have to go on the waste water lines, since I don't have a line going from my carbon to ro membrane ( since its all internal?
14 yrs old and the video is still helping people :)
Tried an install method from another "expert" and it did not work. Followed the BRS video and it worked perfectly. Thank you!

thank you very much looks like someone from my family put the sov wrong and thanks to this video I am the man in my family.
Perfect video. Perfect instructions. Perfect narration. 5/5 stars!
thanks guys! my kit came in the mail without instructions. this should be a BIIIIG help! i can ALWAYS count on BRS

Mouse click is heard! back in da day BRS-style when reefing was easy and affordable.
thanks for the run through. i just finished setting mine up as an add on feature.
Thank you so much, with your instructions I was able to do it perfectly, thank you for your hard work!
Watching this in 2020...
How should it be setup with a di stage?
Thanks for good tips. I have 2 ro systems. On one system the ASOV opens almost immidiately when a cup of water is drawn from tank and we love this way. How do I use this on my 6 stage liquagen? I think I bought your shut off bar prematurely.
It doesn't look like there is a di chamber in this video. Would this hook up be the same or would it go after the di chamber?
Will this work if my storage tank and float valve are several feet (maybe 10-12 feet) away from the auto shutoff valve?

Wow, nice. I'll have to look into one of those.
I bought a RODI used and it has the float valve and the thing with the 4 screws but it has no check valve do I need one
+BulkReefSupplyCom okay do I need it ? what does it do if I don't use one what will happen
what happens If I install this without the check valve? I own the 4 stage PLUS and it came with a shut off valve. If I only add a float switch will it work? or do I need to order a one way check valve as well?
Do you have the installation video with the auto solenoid valve with booster pump?
Hi!
Can I install the auto shut off valve between the the tap water supply and the first (sediment) filter inlet?
I’ve one like this, and for some time it worked fine. Then one day I changed the filters and now it vibrates very strongly. Does anyone know why is this? Is it broken or is it a bad installation?
It’s the same proses for the 5 stages one ???
Very helpful, thank you.
how go i install a pressure gauge air just bought one
thankssss
thank you
Where exactly does the float switch go? Thanks
can this be used on all rodi systems or just the brs one?
Do you know approximately how long it takes for the ASOV to close after the floater does??
It'll depend on the pressure to the system, but generally between 5 and 15 minutes.
Why my RO system was not draining out?
Mine came defected...is not shutting off the water
Good video

Unfortunately, you're going to need a pressurized tank for this to work properly.
@@BRStv Thanks alot guys for the FAST response !!! You gys are awesome keep up the great work
Cool video nice and clear thanks!
Can you use an auto shut off valve to prevent a sump tank from overflowing?
Hmm...I don't think that would work. These auto shut off valves use very small diameter tubing and rely on pressure, which plumbing on sumps don't have.
These shut off valves are specifically designed for water filtration units with 1/4"inch tubing connections and designed to operate in pressurized environments just like a kitchen or bathroom faucet. I also forgot to mention that the system has always made some very strange noises when I turn off the valve. Like a long whine.
Could I use this in conjunction with booster pump Pressure switch?
You definitely can! The booster pump will shut off to back pressure, just as the ASO will.
Does water still come out of the waste line

OK thats for the help! Yeah I haven't seen many like it came with the house. It's a culligan ac 30
***** does it matter to have both in line?
what if u have 2 menbraines
I need help! I installed this valve and when the float valve shuts water off the aso begins vibrating violently. Any idea what is causing this?
Usually it's a result of the water pressure hitting the ASOV. What pressure are you running your system at?
Pressure is 45 psi. One thing I thought of does the valves orientation matter (I have it vertically so two connections face down and type face up)?
Is it the same for 7 stage RODI
Does water still come out of the waste line
Anyone else getting a loud hum from the auto shut-off valve?
Nothing to say??? After all this time and money spent? This is really crappy. I'm calling you guys tomorrow.
still haven't installed it have you
