  • Volvo's subcompact XC40 crossover is a little sweetheart that we'll always be happy to take. This R-Design model spices the meatball a bit with 20-inch wheels, aggressive accents, and a 248-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. What goes further to make this car stand out is its violently orange interior carpet-you've got to see it to believe it.

How would you rate this car for a guy on the bigger side? like over 250lbs. I have owned a xc90 the 2014 and older generation and it was nice. I dumped it for a large sedan but am wanting that higher up feeling and ease of entry and exit. I do not wanna feel cramped tho like I do not have enough space or claustrophobic. I have yet to see one or go to the dealership yet. I am prob heading out to one soon.
      Thanks for any input.

@@6.2ltrv85 I'm 5'10 and weigh a lot more than 250lbs and when I took the car for a test drive I found it not at all cramped. I actually loved it and ordered one last Friday :)

That rear cargo floor does actually fold more. If you fold it into thirds it creates little bag holders and can keep cargo closer to the back seats and prevents it from rolling around.

Hi. How is the xc40 for "bigger" guys? I am about 275 and have owned a previous generation xc90 and now a Chevy SS Sedan. I am wanting to get back into a SUV, (getting old) with a bad back. I have yet to go to the dealership and see one in person. I am curious as to how a big guy would fit in it. Do you have an opinion on this? I just picked you at random, I could as the reviewer I suppose. :)
      Thanks

Also the park in and out feature requires actual cars to be present to park in between. It doesn't read the lines on the pavement.

Ahhh, that makes sense! I thought about that afterward, as we have a Sonata that requires the same situation. Thanks!

    Great review. Oreo. 😂👏👏
    It’s a shame about the MY21 downgrades.
Mine will come with no visible exhausts (all trims look like the Momentum trim now), no embossing on the leather, C-Pillar and kick plates, only 1 main key plus a care key, the paddle shifters are now removed from the R Design, folding headrests gone, close & lock button on the trunk has gone, electric folding rear seats has gone (now manual operation from rear seats). Even the ticket holder on the A-Pillar has gone, although there is one on the sun visor. WTH Volvo? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I use neutral regularly: automatic car wash “street”

Great Review. The shifter design is sooo unnecessary. Nice CUV.

Did you know you could open that rear door by slowly putting your foot slightly off center to the left underneath the rear bumper?

I'm still having trouble locating exactly where it is each time.

Richard Salinas it’s directly under the inside left hand sensor.

    • @richstex4736

@@bovver6092 What the problem actually turns out to be is that there is a delay between the time you activate the sensor & when the gate actually opens. That's what was throwing me off. I spend that kind of moolah on a vehicle, I expect it to respond on my timetable, LOL.

At first, I thought the thumbnail was showing an interior light kit. My kid would love the carpet as he is infatuated w/volcanoes. Too bad Volvo isn't as bold on the outside of the car w/better colors - black, white, silver, grey dominate (BORING!); hence your lifeless Oreo press mule. Our world is full of great color, I just wish lux brands offered more colors.

    • @DailyMotor
      @DailyMotor  4 роки тому +2

That's true, you can't get as many fun colors with the luxury brands (BMW and Mercedes are the worst offenders, just various greyscales and browns). Volvo had that cool soft ice blue color with the white room for the XC40 launch, but it doesn't look like it's offered for 2020.

22mpg in a 4 cylinder is actually terrible.

But it's turbocharged doe so it's actually decent average mpg 25 which is pretty good
