Progress! 54:45 fun fact: The inventory key for old versions of MC was “i” and sprint was (and is still) double tapping the “w” key, sprinting was added in beta 1.8 and the sprint-key in 1.7.2 (according to wiki) 58:30 no. not day 7, that is the level of experience you have (the green orbs from coal and creatures. It’s also related to the score on the death-screen). Can’t fault anyone for not knowing; it’s not really explained. Its uses could be inferred form anvils or the enchanting table; or paying attention when ‘dispatching’ mobs or coal ore. 1:03:19 ok, If anyone makes fun of him not knowing you can shift click to make all. It took me til summer this year, to figure out you can split stacks by right-clicking them; I have played MC since at least 1.7.10. No hate XD. Either that, or I knew but forgot and did left dragging til I re-figured it out. 1:05:06 jumping off to grab a ladder has to be at least a couple of OSHA violations… I hope… 1:11:12 “no mining at nighttime” I wonder if there is a song or a MC-parody about that. There is the fun factor of watching the struggle of a “noob” we can’t experience ourself. It also gives a more objective look at gameplay experience, for part of the game that was made “worse” in a game design perspective. Cool ain’t it? 1:28:10 nah, dragons live in a whole other dimension… maybe that’s the “end” of the game… yes there are dimensions in MC 1:35:11 “it’s just 3 blocks of cobblestone”. How DARE you!!! How can an engineer not see the elegant beauty of the simple beam bridge. It’s cheap, it’s quick, and it’s efficient. I am appalled by the low rating of 1.5 /10. I understand that beam bridges made out of non solid Amorphous-ish cobblestone is not the best choice for structural stability, but it does its job, and rating a bridge low purely on looks is ARCHITECT behavior; it deserves at least a 3 XD. 1:37:29 He placed water on the tall grass. 1:38:48 OH! By giant he meant the Iron golem. I thought the was refering to the mob called the “giant”(big zombie). I know they don’t spawn naturally, but maybe he heard about them… or something. 1:40:13 the ruined portal is such a good thing from a game design perspective. He finished the portal and learned about the nether “without outside help”. Ok he might have seen them on the server. But it just shows that it is possible for a new player to figure it out… so good. Peace, love and pig hot-tops (bridges). And have respect for the beam bridge.

I am truly enjoying your journey into Minecraft. I resisted playing this "silly looking game" with my children for the longest time and when I did finally relent to their pleas I found it to be such a wonderful game, especially when you get to the point where you add mods that enrich the entire experience with new challenges, new content and themed storylines. I would love to see more of this from you, sir! I think you will particularly enjoy the Create mod. As an engineer I'm sure you'll love the mechanical building aspect that mod introduces into Minecraft. Thanks for all your hard work as a content creator!
Agreed. I already have premium, but if I didn't, I'd pay to watch Matt play more Minecraft. Although I feel like it wouldn't be as entertaining because he's familiar with the game now (side from all the new stuff).
Love the fact that he said “did that duck just lay an egg”☠️☠️☠️ it’s so nice seeing someone truly play Minecraft for the first time, kind of frustrating (sometimes) but funny and refreshing at the same time
New episodes, please! Was so excited to see a "new" episode from you. Then, I realized it was all the other episodes I have watched many times. It's so refreshing to see a new person share their experience with us. It gives us all warm fuzzies about our first time learning about our favorite game!
Its so cool to see someone with no bias going in. Making a stone pick seems extremely obvious to me but realistically thats only because i have the experience. Very genuine, loved this discovery feeling i cant get anymore😊
I have been playing Minecraft since 2010 (Cave Game at the time) I've been struggling lately and I have recently been getting into your videos cause they help me feel less lonely, and I just gotta say, the nostalgia I feel right now watching you play for the first time is so heartwarming and needed. Thank you.
"Knob monsters are the bane of this game..." Facts. Thanks for making this video. I've played MC for a long time yet it is really refreshing watching someone go through that learning phase, especially when you rightly pointed out, there is no real tutorial!

I LOVE this!! I played Minecraft for the first time 6 weeks ago. Which is wild since I’m a gamer as well, always have been. It just never crossed my path as I never play on PC. I am OBSESSED. I‘m about 220 hours in and it’s pure bliss. Seeing how you learn this is soooo great!! Cause I started on a server with my friends and they told me NOTHING. My friend spawned next to me and just stared at me and I was like“…. Should I … tree? Punch a tree?“ and we went from there. I leaned more and more and now I’m into deep. I’ve seen a lot of things, beat the game, build amazing things, currently working on a huge cathedral - the one from the Pillars of the Earth Books. I’ve been working on it for a solid 100 hours (with gathering material, breaks etc) and I just love it. Enjoy it. I had the most fun with this game just experiencing it :)
@@Move_Flee That's not how it works. He probably has a whole backlog of videos that he could upload. He doesn't upload them because it gives him well earned time off. And mega edits still provide his editors with work.

I've been playing Minecraft for like 12 years and never really needed the crafting recipes. But, it was really neat getting to see someone learn all the recipes of the game in the moment through the game itself. How far we've come
I partially agree, but a big part of discovering MC back in 1.0 was combining stuff at the 2x2 and 3x3 to see of it creates anything, while the book is neat it also takes away part of the magic. Mat never even tried mix and matching on the box, he just searched words and went from there
You should check out some mods like create and the physics mod, create seems like something you’d enjoy a lot (download the add-ons to create, it’ll be a lot better)
I hope you are able to play through without having too much told to you before you can explore and discover! Seeing someone genuinely experience and learn is enjoyable!!
If you ever decide to continue this series, here are a few tips to help your experience: - You can shift-click to move items quickly between your hotbar and inventory, as well as between your inventory and chests! It makes looting & organizing a lot faster, especially if you're in a timed situation, like when you looted that wreck, for example! - If you've got a stackable item taking up multiple slots, you can double click on any one of them to stack them all automatically. Additionally, while in a chest & while holding the item, you can press shift+double click another stack to transfer ALL stacks of that item to or from your chest. - When crafting, say a chest for example, you can hold left (or right) click as you drag the item over the item slots to fill in the spaces quicker.

You should play one of the create mod packs with objectives, like create above and beyond. It adds automation and factories in a way that looks nice, and the objectives drive progression and give a definitive end to the series.
Ahh good old mine craft. Watching you play for the first time was like watching me play for the first time. Brings back good memories. I would enjoy watching a series for sure. Couple of suggestions. 1. If you die you can go back and get your inventory you lost when you died. 2. Ducking allows you to dangle off the edge without falling. 3. Sheep give you wool for bedding which allows you to make a bed and a respawn point from sleeping.
I posted this in excitement of the first few minutes and then realised it’s a lazy episode of stringing together all the ones you done previously- still watched it again though 😂
You're definitely right that this was going to be hard to watch for those of us with more Minecraft experience. I want to personally thank you for convincing me why I shouldn't try convince my friends who've never played before to come join me on a private server - it's fun when I can just facepalm in private, but if I was in voice chat with them too, I don't think I'd be able to keep my frustration out of my voice. That said, I definitely want to see you play more Minecraft, because as you said, you were enjoying it, and to me, that's what makes good gaming content: someone genuinely enjoying the games they're playing.

54:45 fun fact: The inventory key for old versions of MC was “i” and sprint was (and is still) double tapping the “w” key, sprinting was added in beta 1.8 and the sprint-key in 1.7.2 (according to wiki)
58:30 no. not day 7, that is the level of experience you have (the green orbs from coal and creatures.
1:05:06 jumping off to grab a ladder has to be at least a couple of OSHA violations… I hope…
1:11:12 “no mining at nighttime” I wonder if there is a song or a MC-parody about that. Hhmmm … XD
1:21:50 Yes a natural bridge. You didn’t even have to calculate the structural strength of a cantilever platform; is’t that great!
1:22:42 he seem to be cured of the right-clicking allergy… he figured out the campfire. More knowledge progress, after some equipment regress...
1:25:32 yes, think it’s painful to watch, BUT it’s a pain many veteran MC-players had, and never will experience again. There is the fun factor of watching the struggle of a “noob” we can’t experience ourself. It also gives a more objective look at gameplay experience, for part of the game that was made “worse” in a game design perspective. Cool ain’t it?
1:28:10 nah, dragons live in a whole other dimension… maybe that’s the “end” of the game… yes there are dimensions in MC
1:35:11 “it’s just 3 blocks of cobblestone”.
It's not that deep buddy calm down.
@@merchant69420 I quite like the commentary actually.
Sadly not really relevant as the video is a mega edit from years ago.
But I liked it anyway.
It's nice when people are helpful and positive with each other.
So refreshing to watch someone actually being NEW to the game :D
I am truly enjoying your journey into Minecraft. I resisted playing this "silly looking game" with my children for the longest time and when I did finally relent to their pleas I found it to be such a wonderful game, especially when you get to the point where you add mods that enrich the entire experience with new challenges, new content and themed storylines. I would love to see more of this from you, sir! I think you will particularly enjoy the Create mod. As an engineer I'm sure you'll love the mechanical building aspect that mod introduces into Minecraft. Thanks for all your hard work as a content creator!
Please! We need more NEW Minecraft content! So much has changed!
Agreed. I already have premium, but if I didn't, I'd pay to watch Matt play more Minecraft.
Although I feel like it wouldn't be as entertaining because he's familiar with the game now (side from all the new stuff).
1:38:35 love how he is more excited about gold than he is about the diamond 😂
3:45 first big mistake
watching you learn the absolute basics is actually pretty enjoyable, be good to see you get to the point where you have crazy redstone engineered
Am I crazy... I swear I already saw this video before and I'm here going nuts seeing it was published 13 h ago... I remember it from Months ago...
Love the fact that he said “did that duck just lay an egg”☠️☠️☠️ it’s so nice seeing someone truly play Minecraft for the first time, kind of frustrating (sometimes) but funny and refreshing at the same time
The sheer amount of British swearing is just so funny😂😂
New episodes, please! Was so excited to see a "new" episode from you. Then, I realized it was all the other episodes I have watched many times. It's so refreshing to see a new person share their experience with us. It gives us all warm fuzzies about our first time learning about our favorite game!
For anyone wondering this is a mega edit monday video. Its a mincraft series from about 3 or 4 years ago
Edit: this is also why he is playing in 1.17
Had no idea he even tried a real game
@@jerrebrasfield4231ahahahaha I'm dead
Knowing this makes it much less painful LMAO (/positive)
Its so cool to see someone with no bias going in. Making a stone pick seems extremely obvious to me but realistically thats only because i have the experience. Very genuine, loved this discovery feeling i cant get anymore😊
1:51 “IM MINECRAFTING!” 🤣🤣
I have been playing Minecraft since 2010 (Cave Game at the time) I've been struggling lately and I have recently been getting into your videos cause they help me feel less lonely, and I just gotta say, the nostalgia I feel right now watching you play for the first time is so heartwarming and needed. Thank you.
21:09
Already the Perfect Zombie Impression 😂😂😂
"Knob monsters are the bane of this game..." Facts. Thanks for making this video. I've played MC for a long time yet it is really refreshing watching someone go through that learning phase, especially when you rightly pointed out, there is no real tutorial!
Because of all those "I worked on civil development project back in the days" talks, I thought you were around your 40s.
But now I learn you are my junior.
This is an old series
@@Ekipsogel But probably still their junior. He's younger than me too, which I didn't expect because of his engineering experience.
It has been so amazing to watch someone whose never played or hardly seen people play it play the game make me feel
Iike a professional lmao this is my childhood game ive played since 12 when it was fairly new. Id love to see you play with the create mode youd love it, so much machine making and automation its quite complex too so i think ud have fun learning it and making factories and auto farms for iron and other materials
I didnt expect to see someone that knows absolutely nothing about minecraft in 2024
It's old vids in a compilation, it's Mega edit Monday
@@Ekipsogel True. But even at the time, he knew nothing about Minecraft. Which is quite a feat really for a self professed hardcore gamer.
You should edit it to say 2020
Yess, I'm sooo hyped to see you play and discover this. I feel like this is such a perfect RCE game because you can do soooo many crazy things. And you even blessed us with a long video off the bat! Can't wait for you to play more😂
At35:32 editor didn’t even bother bleeping out the swear words
This reminds me of my first time playing through. Now being a moderately experienced player....looking back putting that into perspective with the "figure it out" struggle.
“I don’t know how to open doors,”
Literally one episode ago
*opens door like 3 times*
Love that you are playing this Matt
@@Move_Flee That's not how it works.
He probably has a whole backlog of videos that he could upload.
He doesn't upload them because it gives him well earned time off.
And mega edits still provide his editors with work.
It's really refreshing seeing someone who's familiar with games play minecraft for the first time as someone who's played it for years! It gives you another perspective on newer features :)
5:41 there used to be a tutorial, but good things never last
love it mate. btw I think there is an achevement road with one of your buttons. just so you know how to progress. and dig down in the temple in the desert and stand on the presure plate.
Mat never even tried mix and matching on the box, he just searched words and went from there
The wholesomeness that is coming from this video just catapulted me back into my childhood watching Stampylonghead.
Did not expect minecraft, not dissapointed.
Fr
Same though
If he discovers Redstone All is Lost.
I am a veteran minecraft and especially modded minecraft player, and that was at the same time refreshing and infuriating to watch :D
cheers
THIS IS PAINFUL
It’s so rare to see somebody who plays games regularly that has never played Minecraft. This video is a gem
You should check out some mods like create and the physics mod, create seems like something you’d enjoy a lot (download the add-ons to create, it’ll be a lot better)
Definitely create mod, cogwheels and engines and conveyor belts….just his thing
I hope you are able to play through without having too much told to you before you can explore and discover! Seeing someone genuinely experience and learn is enjoyable!!
THANK YOU FOR PLAYING MINECRAFT
If you ever decide to continue this series, here are a few tips to help your experience:
- You can shift-click to move items quickly between your hotbar and
inventory, as well as between your inventory and chests!
It makes looting & organizing a lot faster, especially if you're in
a timed situation, like when you looted that wreck, for example!
- If you've got a stackable item taking up multiple slots, you can double
click on any one of them to stack them all automatically.
Additionally, while in a chest & while holding the item, you can press
shift+double click another stack to transfer ALL stacks of that item
to or from your chest.
- When crafting, say a chest for example, you can hold left (or right) click
as you drag the item over the item slots to fill in the spaces quicker.

2:00 he realised gravity is heavier?
i didn't realised that in 6 years
There are genuine minecraft engineers out there, Matt. You should ask for a tour of the SciCraft server if you decide to continue this series.
I wish these reposts were better labelled, I thought you had gone back and played minecraft again.
The description doesn't give you a hint?
I'm not concerned by it being a mega edit. Minecraft is the rare exception in the case of mega edit videos. I'll watch it again, even though I've seen the series before.
Yeah me to I was so excited and then I realized it
As a long time Minecrafter, this is awesome! Your commentary is perfect! “You can make wood with wood.” 😂
It’s a repost.
MATT IS FINALLY IN MINECRAFT!!! LET'S GO BUILD HOUSES Y'ALL!
Oh well it was recorded in 2021, my bad lol.
@@MrSlonokot Eh. You're not alone with that mistake. Loads of people have said similar things to you. Other people are all bent out of shape that it's just a mega edit and not a new series. At least you didn't lose your shit about it.
I want mooooore!! Ive never played Minecraft or watched others play it, so following your journey as you discovered the game was really fun and interesting to watch!❤
a starter base is usually just a box, ambitious projects like a house hanging from a crane usually come later when you've advanced a little and got greater tools to collect resources
I haven't enjoyed watching a minecraft video this much in a looong time. please continue!!
Hope the guy who always commented to play minecraft is happy now xD
DUDE THIS IS MY JAM i literally have been playing minecraft for 8-9 years and have like 15000 hours on it im so glad you made a video about this. please make this a series. 🙏🙏🙏
Wasn't this video already posted like 3 or 4 years ago and when see the left bottom corner you can see the version being 1.17 while the current version is 1.21.
yeah, exactly the same
Reading the description can be a huge help when you're unsure about something in a video :)
it's a series of several older videos combined in 1 long video. not the 1st on the channel.
yeah
yep bcs this is a supercut pretty shure
Love that you are playing this! Please keep a series going, maybe watch some other UA-cam videos for tips 😂❤
I posted this in excitement of the first few minutes and then realised it’s a lazy episode of stringing together all the ones you done previously- still watched it again though 😂
@@jerseyd7131 It's not lazy. It gives Matt time off and still allows his editors to work.
@@QueenMonny you’re right, I was wrong to use the phrase Lazy, still very much enjoyed this though
This is the best ❤! Helps me remember when I first started playing! Absolutely loved watching!!
If you will play minecraft again, I recommend trying the create mod.
He needs to learn the game first xD
@@Move_Fleelol what
That was fun to watch. Took me back to when I first played minecraft. Thanks for sharing, RCE.
Day 49 of asking Matt to play what he wants to play. Because we will enjoy it anyway :)
28:09 "u can brew beer"🤣🤣🤣 i love this guy
Your not cringy
I think you are genuin
You are playing a brand new game
And you do your own research
I engoy that
Please continue the series
And get some mods
Create is the best
Also play creative mode I think you would like it
This is so painful to watch, but also refreshing as i can remember when a saw a first impression of minecraft Edit: i have now watched the whole thing and wat to say that i want to see you try play a few episodes at least
It's good that you chose the right version of Minecraft (Java Edition)
amen, no random dying and minecoins.
Man he should start a Minecraft series i want to see that
This are old videos all just merged together
Yes, it's Megat Edit Monday.
We know, but it's still enjoyable.
i would genuinely love to watch you play a whole playthrough of minecraft and once you feel you've learnt enough to manage vanilla minecraft i suggest you do a modded playthrough where you try a mod called Create. i think it'd be right up your alley🥰
We assume Minecraft can be re-developed with the Unity Engine and C#
Bedrock is already in C++, cant be too difficult.
No no, watching someone discover minecraft is a special joy. Interested to see what you do with redstone eventually.
Why would he post his minecraft videos from 2022 insted of playing it more
Mega edit Monday
These long videos play while people sleep at night and the ad revenue just piles up.
I can not beleive that in 2024 I can see a grone up play minecraft for the first time
Please play more, I swear there is no other youtuber with such interesting commentary and skills, it makes the perfect video!
Watching this whole thing and seeing him take breaks in between videos is like watching two steps forward one step back in real life
The best part about watching someone's first time playing minecraft is hearing how they pronounce "Acacia"
I have an early Mojang account… I played really early Minecraft. Most of my current Minecraft knowledge is from Hermit Craft though. It is really cool to see an absolute noob puzzle things out. And even name things. Engineer talks about blob things. Then when one of those blob things appears on the back of a villager, he thinks it’s a panda.😂 the observations and mental work through are very fun to observe!😁
